Hello awesome creatures and happy Thursday everyone!
We’re already two weeks into 2020 and it feels as if this year has started with some really good omens. Still, because I don’t want to jinx anything, I’m going to focus on something positive that’s filled with love and swooning and precious moments.

Hello awesome nerds and happy Monday everyone!
After a tough year full of reading slumps and disappointments, 2020 came to repay me with amazing books that have valuable lessons to teach. One of those books was Call It What You Want, written by Brigid Kemmerer, the author of the amazing A Curse so Dark and Lonely.
“When his dad is caught embezzling funds from half the town, Rob goes from popular lacrosse player to social pariah. Even worse, his father’s failed suicide attempt leaves Rob and his mother responsible for his care.
Everyone thinks of Maegan as a typical overachiever, but she has a secret of her own after the pressure got to her last year. And when her sister comes home from college pregnant, keeping it from her parents might be more than she can handle.
When Rob and Maegan are paired together for a calculus project, they’re both reluctant to let anyone through the walls they’ve built. But when Maegan learns of Rob’s plan to fix the damage caused by his father, it could ruin more than their fragile new friendship…
This captivating, heartfelt novel asks the question: Is it okay to do something wrong for the right reasons?”
Inspired by the well-known story of Robbin Hood, this contemporary retelling is like a breath of fresh air, an original and fascinating story anyone should read. And by anyone, I mean all those who feel like they carry the weight of the world on their shoulders and they need to be perfect 24/7, simply because this is how they grew up and they always want to please everyone, because everyone else isn’t used to being disappointed on them. Does that make sense?
My feelings and thoughts about this book are still all over the place, but I will try to put everything in order and prove to you that you definitely need to add this beauty on your TBR pile, if you haven’t done so already.
Technically speaking, I very much enjoyed this contemporary Robbin Hood retelling, with the dual POVs, the refreshing and interesting characters, and the heartwarming finale. I loved Brigid Kemmerer’s writing style once again and I really liked that she gave, once again, a contemporary twist to a well-known classic tale.

Maegan and Rob were both fascinating, well-written and with so much depth characters, and I instantly connected with them; with Maegan because she always tried to be the perfect daughter and overachiever, and with Rob because he’s a bookworm like me. I mean, come on, dude! We could start a book club together with all those books you’ve read and with how similar our tastes are!
On what comes to the story itself, the beginning of the book felt faced-paced and so very pleasing to read (or actually listen to, as I listened to this book on Audible), but towards the middle of the novel, the story felt a little bit flat, not to mention that Rob started losing control more frequently and this whole attitude and behaviour got on my nerves sometimes. I know that he’d been through hell but everyone’s facing battle the rest of the world knows nothing about.
Still, the final plot twist was really amazing, although I have to admit that I’d seen this one coming. But that’s only because I never really liked one particular character and I wanted him to be the “villain” of the story.
Overall, this contemporary novel of Brigid Kemmerer reminded me why I love this woman so much and now I can hardly wait to read the sequel in the Cursebreakers series, A Heart so Fierce and Broken.
