A DESERVED FRIGHT – A SCARY STORY
A DESERVED FRIGHT! © 2020

Jack Gennaro and Bobby Regan, friends, and both 11-year-old sixth-graders lived a block away from each other. They typically walked to school each day together, were noted for getting in to a few fracases together, and teased their younger sisters to the exhaustion of their parents as if they planned the teasing together.
All that had changed. It was now COVID-19 time. They were now parked in front of their computer screens listening to their teacher...

Good Prevailing?
Famous murder mystery writers have defended their choice of genres declaring the following: a murdered victim needs the killer discovered to give some value to a life taken away so easily and assurance to society that it is not the norm. The question of why some person would do such a 'dastardly deed' must be understood if for no other reason than the prevention of such horrors in the future. Another important issue is the society within which the murder or murders occur. What elements in society would allow, perhaps even encourage, the taking out of the life of another? How does the murderer feel after his or her act? Is their even a modicum of guilt evidenced? Murder is important to examine. It is the most heinous of sins. The mystery of a theft, unless there is an enormous amount stolen is not so important; nor are the legacy of the many other crimes and injustices committed. No, murder must be examined both in fiction and non-fiction. Murder must be examined by psychologists, social workers, teachers, criminal justice experts, economists, statisticians, politicians, etc. Murder must be prevented to insure good prevails.

WORDS AND PICTURES
This photo is one from the marketing of my first book in the The Beauregard Mystery Series, “SUNNYSIDE ROAD –
PARADISE DISSEMBLING’ published in 2018. the photo shows, in a darkened light, a beautiful street in a suburban neighborhood. The cover of the book, not withstanding the body lying in the foreground, is bright with a large sun shining on all. The shade in the picture above gives us glimpses of a setting for horrible happenings in a neighborhood in the fictional town of West Side, Mas...

OH NO! HAS INDIAN SUMMER GONE?
Fifty-two degrees and rainy in Springfield, MA today. I slept in to an inordinate and unseemly time for a working author. Still, I awoke with a vigorous attitude towards my daily duties and writing. Small jobs faced me; jobs I normally try to put off. Perhaps the extra sleep took away my unhappiness with facing boring every day duties. One after another, I checked things of my list. I made phone calls: house insurance, car insurance, Library of Congress for number for sixth book, scheduling a la...

EMPTYING THE BRAIN
I spent a weekend at a beautiful location on the shores of Lake Winnipesaukee, near Wolfboro, New Hampshire. This 21 mile long by 8/5 mile wide lake is the site of America’s history starting with the English Tories. The town is the oldest vacation site in the U.S. The weather was too cool for swimming and even boating in the pontoon craft available. Family was there, ensconced in a modern designed/built home with the feel of the nineteenth century. Time did not rush by. The work of the day was t...

Neighboring…
We all do it, sometimes. Neighboring! Good works done for someone who lives in the area; even if you are not personally acquainted. Proximity of living seems to bring out connections we don’t often talk about. I try to be a good neighbor, helping when I see a need. I exert myself to speak and smile at all opportunities when passing on the street during my morning walks. After all, we are a section of an urban area that feels very much like a suburb not two miles from city center. We have much in...
