“SUSANNA’S MIDNIGHT RIDE” ON AUDIO

HUZZAH! I have long dreamed of having “Susanna’s Midnight Ride” on Audible. That day is finally here! So glad I took the plunge with the help of my fabulous narrator, Theresa Bakken. We are both so pleased with the results and hope you enjoy it on a road trip this summer. Here is the link to Audible and a free five-minute clip to take a “test drive.” Vroom, vroom.

Clip of “Susanna’s Midnight Ride” Presentation

HUZZAH! I recently had the honor of speaking at Hanover Historic Courthouse in Hanover, Virginia for the Hanover Historical Society. This is the courtroom where Patrick Henry successfully argued the legendary Parsons Cause case. Here’s a short clip.

Novel News

The Civil War began and ended during the month of April in 1861 and 1865, so April is the perfect time for this announcement. (Cue the drummer boys now.) My third historical fiction novel will focus on Elizabeth Van Lew, a fierce and cunning Union spy from Church Hill in Richmond. This wealthy spinster ran the South’s most effective spy ring, reporting directly to General Grant. She also organized a massive outbreak of Union prisoners-of-war from the dreaded (and aptly named) Libby Prison. There is no official release date yet, but my working title is:THE UNION SPYMISTRESS: ELIZABETH VAN LEW OF RICHMONDResearching Miss Van Lew and learning about Richmond during the Civil War has been fascinating. Here I am meeting General Grant who has aged quite well. And here I was checking out some local battlefields.

Epic Patriot Camp Registration 2023!

Don’t miss this EPIC opportunity to get one-on-one with Libby and her colleague Jenny L. Cote for this online writing camp! These two award-winning authors will lead 24 campers through a 4-week online writing course focused on writing the story of 1777-79. Campers will learn vital American history as well as how to research and write historical fiction. They will also learn the process of how to publish a book, from editing to formatting to marketing. Camp includes fun workshops with surprise special guests. Campers will assume the identity of a Revolutionary character and each week will conduct research and complete writing assignments to send to the authors who will provide critiques. Campers will share their work with the group to gain feedback, encouragement and ideas. At the completion of Epic Patriot Camp, the group’s work will be compiled and published with a title the group develops, and will be available for sale on Amazon. Each camper will receive a copy of the published book, and be able to order additional copies if they wish.

An ending celebration with optional colonial dress to share our work with families will top off this once in a lifetime experience. When your camper returns to class in the fall, they can proudly say that they became a published author over the summer!

See link below to our published book from Epic Patriot Camp 2022. The book is now carried by the American Revolution Museum in Yorktown, Mount Vernon, the Boston Tea Party Museum, the Gallery at York Hall, and the Henry Knox Museum among other book retailers. Our campers had two book signings in Yorktown, and we hope to have the same opportunity for EPC 2023 campers.

Jenny and Libby hope this experience will foster friendships for kids that continue long after camp, and will serve as a launching pad for young people who are serious about pursuing a writing career.

Space is limited and camp will fill quickly, so register early. We can’t wait to “see you” in June! HUZZAH!
