“His Royal Glory, the Splendid King Rokon, will receive you now,” Rffnss announced as he opened the throne room doors to admit a disparate conglomerate of vagabonds.

The Yithian was a conical creature three and a half meters tall with a quartet of flexible appendages. Two of these appendages terminated in great pincers. One terminated in a round head with three eyes, four antennae resembling closed flower-buds on stalks, and a fringe of tentacles resembling a patchy beard. Another terminated in four red trumpets. Most Yithians the King had encountered presented as coldly scientific. This one radiated a gentle inquisitiveness.

Notes

This fix-up novel follows the events that transpired in Ketil and Yitzy’s Adventures in the Xura Dream House. The book can be read as a standalone, but for a better understanding of the characters and events, it is suggested that Ketil and Yitzy’s Adventure in the Xura Dream House should be read first. A combination of athletic activity and youth gave me a muscular body. I got my earthy complexion, black hair, and stubby nose from my mom, a Crow Indian. I had hazel eyes like Dad, who always told me my exotic looks made me a real lady killer. I thought I was a regular-looking guy. I joked that I didn’t have any interest in killing ladies.

Truthfully, I had no romantic interest in ladies either, but I couldn't tell Dad that.

“You might never make MVP, Joey, but you’re a good solid player,” Dad declared, patting my shoulder. “You were the most dependable Behemoth for three years in a row.”

“My son the Dependable Behemoth,” I mused, feeling happy as Dad leaned against me, grinning. I loved being with him when he was like this.

Dad and I were a study in contrasts. He stood just five feet six inches tall, a portly middle-aged WASP with a bit of a pot belly.

“Of what variety are these other visitors?”

When I was a senior in high school, my televangelist father provided me with a list of ten colleges he recommended. I selected Elk Grove Christian College for Men, located in Parsard, a bedroom community of Billings. Mountain Ridge Christian Women’s College was located in nearby Coboia. I knew I wanted to be involved in athletics, and EGCC had a thriving sports program. I initially considered joining the rugby team, but Dad wanted me to play football. My height and weight were just right for a quarterback at six feet one and 225 pounds.

“Revered Leader, we have visitors from the Third Dimension.”

The speaker was a great snake with flexible, boneless arms. He held a trident in one hand. His golden scales glittered under the red sun that baked the desert world of Zandanua.

“Indeed,” mused the mighty emerald-scaled anthropomorphic snake king seated on the colossal throne of red stone in the grand hall of Ajnevan Palace. “Were they sent by my brother, Yig?”

“They are renegades, Mighty One,” the guard explained. “They are searching for a key to assist in solving a quest given them by Nyarlathotep.”
