I haven't been able to participate in Charity Sunday very often this year because my own financial situation is rather precarious. The monthly food pantry day at Friendship Alliance Church is a great help all year long, and I hope to give them at least a $5 donation to give back to them a little.

Macario gazed in wonder at the little globe, whichcontained a tiny train running from a little railroad station charminglydecorated for Christmas.
“I make these myself every year,” Pika saidproudly.
“It’s beautiful,” Macario said, surprised at thelump in his throat and the tears springing to his eyes. “I apologize for mysudden display of emotion. I’m very touched—pleasantly so, mind you—that suchkind people can still be found in an increasingly harsh world. Thank you, Pika.I’ll take you up on your offer.”
Giving the friend he’d met less than an hour ago abrotherly embrace, Macario hurried to the little blue hybrid. He was preparedto climb into the back seat with his duffel bag, but Dom held the passengerdoor open for him.
“My friends ride up front,” the elf-like man saidwarmly.

“Macario, this is my brother Dom,” Pika said.“Dom, this is Macario Bachmeier, the gentleman I was telling you about.”
“Greetings, Mr. Bachmeier,” the portly gentlemansaid, extending his hand. “I’m pleased we are able to assist you in yourtravels.”
“I can’t thank you enough for this, Sir,” Macariosaid.
“Mac, I’d like to continue our conversation,” Pikainvited. She reached into the pocket of her vest, bringing forth a businesscard and a small snow globe.
