Between the Covers ~ Because of Rafael
Today’s Between the Covers is an excerpt from Because of Rafael, Trescott Cove, Book #1. Enjoy.
He held her gaze. “Both.”
“Look, I’ve done the party scene. That was basically my life. Which is why I’m where I am now, because I was too damn concerned about my own immediate needs to think further than the moment. Not really looking to get back into that lifestyle.”
“Going out doesn’t have to be that way. How about this. You and me go to Onyx.”
She stared at him cautiously.
He did his best to appear unthreatening because although he cursed himself the second he said it, he realized he did want to go out with her.” Not all I want to do with her. He ignored his libido and remained focused on her face.
“Why would you want to do that?”
Well, he was nothing if not honest. “You intrigue me, Brittany Gates, and I would really like to get to know you better.” He’d expected an immediate refusal. After all, he knew she’d been raised with a bitter old racist as a mother. So she may still feel the same even though she’d cut all ties with her mother. For all intents and purposes, at least.
“I don’t really date—”
He waved off her excuse. “Not a date. Just two people going out to have some fun.”
A sparkle filled her large eyes. “Isn’t that technically the definition of a date?”
He pursed his lips. “Technically? Perhaps. But we can just use the definition and not call it that, if it makes you feel better.”
“But you’ll think of it as one?”
He already was.

Grooving ~ Roux the Day

This book and series are some of my favorite I reread. Always enjoy it. The books are so good and build on each other. I enjoy the characters. I love this book and the series.
