Wedding Tales: We All Fall Down!
For our reception party, everyone thought it would be best not to book any of those over-priced halls and host it at the garden and space around my uncle’s house. It felt more personal that way.
And I must say, it looked a thousand times more dazzling with all the mind-blowing decorations and amazing craftsmanship. Great place to have thousands of truly amazing wedding pictures clicked, isn’t it?
But that’s a different story for another time.

What this innovative plan meant for us was tha...

Wedding Tales: The “No Make-Up” Pact!
All through the wedding session, I appeared to have been on a “No Make-Up” pact with myself. While it was not a big deal for me (who never wears any make-up until it’s for a dance performance on stage), everyone else at the ceremony was finding it hard to digest.
Every time I stepped out for a ritual in my outfit with minimalistic jewellery and no makeup, the first question that I was greeted with was: “Don’t you wear any makeup?” I would just smile and say, “No”.
And now I wonder if there...

Wedding Tales: The Case of the Missing Shoes…
Everyone, who has been to an Indian wedding or has seen movies (or even certain ad commercials) on it, knows that we have a ritual of stealing the groom’s shoes. And those of you who have read my last wedding tale, know that my cousin had strictly refused to satisfy the demands of the mischief-makers.
But that didn’t of course stop them from making mischief!
So, the bride’s side did steal the shoes in hope of earning some money. Or perhaps just for the sake of playing a little prank on the...

Wedding Tales: The Unyielding Groom!
If you’ve ever been to an Indian wedding, you would know that there are thousand different rituals to rob a groom of his precious money. As if the expensive venues and over-priced event management charges weren’t enough!
But the groom, my cousin brother, who is spending his hard-earned money for the ceremony (and therefore knows the value of every penny) was adamant not to spend a single rupee more than what’s required.
But funny as he is, my Fulda has a typical way of saying it without offendin...

Wedding Tales: Love is in the Air!
Weddings are a great place for meeting someone, falling in love and having a happily ever after! Or, that’s what it shows in the movies…
Well, this wedding too had love in the air. Even if it’s highly unlikely to end in a “happily ever after”.
It’s true that we find love in the most unexpected places. But it’s a bit too unexpected when 10 year old boys discover their one true love with women in their 20’s!
Yes, you heard it right. There were actually two boys who fell head over heels in...

Wedding Tales: Arrived Too Early!
Weddings are filled with tiny mishaps. But who thought that a small mishap of missed connection would end up in something so funny!
Let me tell it from the beginning…
Predicting the huge number of people who would love to see a wedding under the midnight sky, my Fulmama booked a bus for us to reach the venue while the groom was to arrive in a separate flower-adorned car. But unfortunately, someone called Subho, who is my cousin’s friend, failed to meet us on time.
And we had to leave without him...

Wedding Tales
Weddings aren’t just a ritual or an event. It’s a celebration that unites two families. The grand ceremony is also known to cause a reunion among one’s own family.
I recently attended my cousin brother’s wedding that felt exactly like a family reunion. The one where the entire family from far and wide comes together to enjoy the occasion and make some great memories…
These are the memories that would soon convert themselves into short wedding tales to be told over and over again for years to come....

The Sinful Silence (Book Review)
“This is something bigger than our imagination. Something is terribly wrong. I can smell it, but can’t see.”
~The Sinful Silence by Abir Mukherjee
True to its most famous line, the book “The Sinful Silence” by Abir Mukherjee is a highly mysterious, mind-blowing thriller and an incredible story that’s beyond our wildest imagination.
What appears to be an open and shut case, turns incredibly mysterious and increasingly baffling when the rookie IPS officer Vayu Iyer smells foul play in the murde...

Burn Out: A Story of a Long Awaited Closure
It’s strange how our minds work.
It holds onto such deep emotions, without us even knowing it: fears and rage, panic and frustrations, regrets and resentments…
And sometimes even onto the horrors of an unfinished affair from the past…

My mind has been holding onto a traumatic experience of the past that I didn’t even know existed. But it was strong enough to paint my fears and colour my dreams in the darkest hue.
It’s strange how something so bright can have such dark layers hidden underneat...
