Cipro may permanently disable me

I’m on day 9 of side effects from the antibiotic Cipro. I walked normally before taking one Cipro pill. Now it hurts too much to move my toes in bed.

I have pains throughout my body and I don’t know if my hands will hold up. This antibiotic can permanently disable people with one pill, so this puts further books in serious jeopardy.

I do have a large projector and 120” set up in my bedroom so if my hands don’t give out I can work that way.

I may ask my story editor and best friend to help me with the book if he’s willing. I don’t know if I will be able to continue writing unassisted.

I would be willing to suffer quite a bit to finish “Hot Nights and Cold Wars” and “Triple Apocalypse,” but it might end up not being my choice.

Interviewed on Bravely Mistaken podcast

I did my first interview on a podcast a little before Christmas. I imparted some solid #writingadvice but misremembered one of the Amazon Royalty rates. It's 35% instead of 30% outside of the $2.99-$9.99 price range.

Finalist in International Thriller Award

The Internet President: None of the Above was a finalist for another award. The book has won one award and this is now the second time the novel has been a finalist. It feels great to get recognition on my debut novel.

Interview with Author Voices

I did an interview with Author Voices back when I had the health scare about a month ago. That made one of my answers about the advice I would give myself a bit ironic:

"If you could, what advice would you give to your past self before embarking on this journey?"

Success is rarely instant. Lay off the sodas and hamburgers. Find ways to exercise. Keep healthy so you’ll be around long enough to write more books and build towards that success.

I'm feeling better and I'm continuing to remove distractions as I prepare to shift all my focus to writing the next two books in the series. I'll write a chunk of book 3 before releasing book 2.

Interview with AllAuthor.com

I was interviewed by allauthor.com:

Here's the summary they wrote:
Star Wars is one of the best all-time examples of world-building and inspired the author, P.G. Sundling, from an early age. He was 48 when he published The Internet President: None of the Above. It won one award and was a finalist towards a second award. He is easily inspired by science fiction movies and cinema has always been a great love of his life. He has taken writing classes throughout his life. Some of the more memorable ones were "Trading Your Addictions For Creativity" with John Hruby and "Creating Strong Female Characters" with Christine Conradt.

Nerdiest Subplot Comes True

Another event from my book came true. It was my understanding that you couldn't have low unemployment and low inflation together. That combination happens in my book and it's an economic mystery the main characters have to solve.

https://moneyandmarkets.com/powell-in...

Fifty years of data and the Phillips curve say it shouldn't be possible. Apparently, it can happen and it's happening now. It's bizarre that the nerdiest subplot from my novel is less fictional than intended. Crazy!

https://www.bloomberg.com/opinion/art...

I hope everyone will forgive me for quoting from my book:

“Unemployment and wages both dropped. More competition for fewer workers should raise wages, but it’s not happening. It doesn’t make sense.”

P.G. Sundling. The Internet President: None of the Above (Kindle Locations 3922-3923).

All the previous similarities to my book were about politics. I can't believe some of the economics came true too.

Interviewed on Laughably Inane Blog

I was interviewed recently on the Laughably Inane Blog. One of my better takeaways from the interview:

"I've always had to be a writer. It just took me a long time to learn the discipline to finish ideas. Waiting for inspiration is a trap."

Five star review in Thriller Magazine

My book was rated 5 out of 5 stars by Thriller Magazine.

"Fans of political thrillers, conspiracy theories, or those looking for a satirical escape from the dreary news that we see every day will certainly enjoy The Internet President: None of the Above."

There was also a hard-hitting interview that gave me a realization of the very thought that resulted in so many coincidences between my book's plot and what happened during 2016.

"There was a moment, about a decade ago, where it seemed to me that Americans paid less attention to the two wars we waged in Afghanistan and Iraq than to Kim Kardashian and her reality TV show. As I watched the trend of celebrity worship and misplaced national priorities intensify, I knew that had to be a story element. That crucial decision is one of the reasons why several plot points of the story were almost prophetic. It’s easier to reflect the truth of our time with a dose of satire."

Finalist in Cross Genre Category

The Internet President: None of the Above was a finalist in the 13th Annual National Indie Excellence Awards.

It feels great to get recognition for my novel, which is well off the beaten path. I wasn't sure how such a genre-bending story would be received. For a long time, I wasn't even sure how to describe the novel.

I've got some more unconventional approaches planned for the next books in the series. I'll be doing some things I've never seen done before.

I'll be releasing a hardcover version of The Internet President: None of the Above soon. After I release the hardcover and revamp my website, I'll begin work on book 2.
