I cannot believe that I am roughly halfway through publishing the entire series of The Missing Shield. 😁
Episode 6, titled ' The Lure of an Ancient Fable' comes out early September - slightly delayed due to holidays and a generally busy time in life, but the fortune of being an indie author is the freedom that comes with independence and the flexibility to work as I am able, when I'm able.
So what's it been like? What is it like?
In hindsight, there are things that I would have done differently, but I cannot dwell. Everyone has their own feelings about these things but I'm pretty sure there's a lot of writer friends out there who will nod in agreement when I state that it's been (and remains) a learning curve, bloody hard work, an emotional rollercoaster, and of course, lots of fun. I am able to pursue something that feels like a 'calling' and for that, I'm thankful - both to my family and especially to the readers.
A story that has no audience remains a little like a dream - contained within a personal universe, a mere possibility, a wild hunt for a soul - but with readers, it enters the world we live in and awakens. Thank you to everyone who has already read some the series and thank you for those who are yet to join in! I really, really appreciate your time and support, so please continue to share. Please continue to read. Please continue to drop me your feedback - and please do leave a short review (read: a few simple words) on any of your chosen social media, if you are able.

Back from holiday. My brain feels like butter and the rest of me works on autopilot.
Gosh, I forgot that the kids' summer holidays are really not a holiday at all. I am genetically pre-disposed to end up stressing about all the things I should definitely not be stressing over since this is (DUH!) a holiday, and hence, I should really not care about all the stuff that is not yet done but still sit there winking at me the moment I step back through that door!
Still, a break is a break. It could be worse! Happy Wednesday, everyone. :-)

It's Friday, it's sunny, and I am currently working on some last nitty-gritties of Episode 6 of The Missing Shield.
'So what's the deal with The Missing Shield?', I've been asked recently. It seems that some people have been a little confused by the fact that each episode does not finish per se, but rather leads directly onto the next.
Well, it's simple, really. I wanted to apply a different concept to publishing, and so I decided to split the book, crucially not into 'volumes' but 'episodes'.
I suppose you could look at it little like a tv series in a book format: so where the story finishes on a bit of a cliffhanger at the end of one episode, it will carry on in the next. Simple.
However, this does not mean that each episode cannot be read as a taster and indeed I have included a 'The Story So Far' in each.
Yet, of course, if you want answers, or if you wish to see where the intrigue goes, then you'll simply have to read the next episodes. ;-)

Background info:
The Missing Shield is the intended forerunner to The Veil Keepers Quest series. It is epic fantasy, it gets surprisingly dark and gritty in places, but it also revolves around friendship, love, and duty, all of which will be put to the test as the events draw you deeper into the rabbit hole.
The early chapters set the scene for the greater story, the following chapters deal with the more personal aspects/adventures of the main characters. Read it and enjoy the imagery evoked - and please rest assured that even if you feel the need, please do not think too much about anything - just dive in and allow yourself to float alone.
