Crime Reads lists August Norman’s Come and Get Me as one of April’s Best Debut Thrillers
Crimereads.com included COME AND GET ME: A Caitlin Bergman Novel on its list of April’s Best Debut Thrillers and Crime Novels.
August Norman’s thrilling debut is the latest addition to the giant genre of academic mysteries, but this one feels as immersed in contemporary debates about rights and safety on campus as it is evocative of the ivory tower’s ancient reputation as a place of secrets. In perhaps a nod to the structure of Dorothy Sayer’s seminal college mystery Gaudy Night, a journalist returns to her alma mater to receive an honorary award only to spot dark deeds a-brewin’ after an undergrad’s mysterious disappearance brings underlying issues to a head.

Thriller author August Norman applies Marshal Zeringue’s Page 69 Test to Come and Get Me
As part of the publishing process, I’ve met a lot of other authors, bookstagrammers, and bloggers.
Marshal Zeringue runs (at least) three wonderful blogs that discuss the writing process, and was good enough to invite me to apply his Page 69 test (essentially a look at the importance of a single page in comparison to the overall work) to COME AND GET ME.
You can find my answer, and those of many other authors with hot new releases, here:

Publishers Weekly calls August Norman’s Come and Get Me “Chilling” and “full of page-turning action.”
Publishers Weekly posted their review of COME AND GET ME: A Caitlin Bergman Novel.
When journalist Caitlin Bergman, the heroine of Norman’s chilling first novel and series launch, returns to her hometown of Bloomington, Ind., to receive an honorary degree, she’s approached by a reporter for the student newspaper, who asks her whether she’s going to look into the disappearance of Angela Chapman. Angela vanished after a night of drugs and debauchery two years earlier. Caitlin reluctantly decides that writing about Angela might help her finally face her own 20-year-old trauma over a rape in which her assailant left her for dead. She exposes a series of mistakes, indifference, incompetence, and lies about the night Angela went missing, which doesn’t endear her to the local police or to Angela’s friends. Indeed, Caitlin’s relentless probing and abrasive manner alienates everyone in Bloomington who might help her. Meanwhile, a serial killer lurks in the wings. The skillfully rendered plot is full of page-turning action, but readers should be prepared for graphic depictions of physical and psychological violence. Norman is off to a solid start.
