Harley Merlin and the Detector Fix by Bella Forrest
This is the 7th book in the Harley Merlin series.
On the run from the Coven she used to call home, Harley Merlin knows that Katherine’s power and influence are spreading like a poison. And she has no doubt that Katherine will follow through with her promise to torture and kill her friends, one by one.
Then Harley discovers that the key to her enemy’s undoing might be hiding in a familiar place—her parents’ Grimoire. With Finch, Wade, and Garrett by her side, Harley vows to steal Hester and Hiram’s final gift.
Liar. Rebel. Jailbreaker. Why not add “thief” to the list?
Meanwhile, Jacob senses trouble brewing in the San Diego Coven, with their friends imprisoned and Levi’s thirst for power spiraling out of control. Amid the chaos, the magical detector is on the verge of completion and Jacob meets a human girl who makes his heart race. But Katherine has plans for him. Oh yes, does she have plans…
I absolutely love this series! It’s by far, one of the best that I have read.
Harley is a brilliant character. She has so much power, and is so fierce and strong, but is so relatable as a character in term of her emotions and how she thinks. She has been through so much and is having so much pressure put on her that I’m feeling sorry for her.
Jacob’s perspective was interesting to read. He is a good character, but he needs to think about things more. His decision making is normally too rash, which really had an impact in this book. He is a very likable character though and I enjoyed getting a glimpse in to his head.
I love all the characters really, except Levi. He really was being a dick regardless of what excuse he had. Isadora moved to the top of my list reading this book. She is so caring, always turns up to save the day, and is a rock for everyone in the rag team, especially Harley.
There was various moment’s which made me laugh and some shocking moments also. But the ending. Oh my god, it’s left me feeling gutted. It sure left an impact.
Overall, this is one of my favourite series and I would recommend it to everyone. I’m looking forward to the next one and I’m already feeling sad that it’s coming to the end.

The Enhanced: Fractured by T. C. Edge
This is effectively the 13th book in The Enhanced series, but the 3rd book featuring combined perspectives of bith Brie and Kira.
The battle for New Haven is over, but Brie has been taken once more. Now, Kira and the survivors are in a race against time to get her back…
With the Olympian army pushed back, the city of New Haven has a chance to lick its wounds, bolstered by the arrival of Kira and over a hundred seasoned Neoroman warriors. The lull doesn’t last long. Only days after the battle, the Havenites wake to find that the Olympian army has disappeared overnight.
And they’ve taken Brie with her.
Plans are quickly formed to try to get her back before she’s drawn northwards, and into the heart of Olympus. The Prime, they know, have plans for her. Plans that could put the whole world in danger. And together, the might of New Haven and Neorome must combine to get her back.
Without delay, a mission is activated to head north. An advanced force of five hundred soldiers, Havenite and Neoroman alike, will set off first, desperate to hunt the Olympians down. Behind, Emperor Domitian will rally the full might of Neorome to follow. The plan is to retrieve Brie first, and then eliminate the Prime, setting free the minds of the people of Olympus and the Fringe…
But, such missions rarely go to plan. And soon enough, as Kira heads off with Ares and a dozen Neoromans to catch the Olympian convoy up, she finds that Brie has plans of her own…
The question is, is Brie strong enough to counter the powers of the Overseer, and the Prime? And how will she deal with the new threats she encounters along the way?
I really enjoyed reading this book. The story was great, the plot moved at a good fast pace and I love the characters.
Brie and Kira, as I have mentioned in previous reviews, are both brilliant. They are both strong and fierce. Their relationship has developed a lot since they first met, so Kira’s desire to rescue Brie is great to see. Brie, as usual, wants to help everyone, even when she is the one captured. This book is brilliant in having both of their perspectives and seeing the larger picture of the story.
I love all the other characters too. Ares stood out in particular to me. I like his character, his strength and also his pride and honour. Amber as well is a good character, and I’m looking forward to reading her series, (Children of the Prime).
Artemis Cromwell isn’t half going on his own story through these books. His character development is brilliant to read. I really hope he isn’t lost to the Prime too much after everything which has occurred with him!
Overall, I absolutely love this series, and enjoyed this book. I’m really looking forward to the next in the series.
I would definitely recommend this series. The Enhanced series has a brilliant story, world and characters.

The Enhanced: Conquest by T. C. Edge
This is effectively, the 12th book in The Enhanced series, although it’s the 2nd book following both, Brie and Kira.
They have suffered a civil war. They have beaten back a barbarian army. Now, the city of Haven faces the greatest threat of all.
A year ago, the world changed for Brie. She found out about her powers. She found out about her parents. She found…and lost, her brother, and found herself in the midst of a bitter war.
Now the dust is settling, but another threat is rising in her mind. After her adventure to the northern realms with Kira six months ago, she’s been ever restless about the threat she found. The Children of the Prime are coming, she knows. But, will anyone else believe her?
With Kira away in Neorome, and dealing with her own problems, time might well be running out before the renamed city of New Haven comes under siege again.
Brie knows this, and her powers are growing to face this new threat. The question is…will it be enough? Or will New Haven fall, once again, under the rule of a cruel dictator?
I have loved every book in The Enhanced series so far, and this book was no different. I said after reading the previous book with Brie and Kira, that I hope there’s another one, and I’m so glad that there is.
The story was brilliant and it led on well from the last. The storyline and plot developed well and I love Brie and Kira, and all the other characters. The new characters introduced, or taken from other books (The Red Warrier series and Children on the Prime series) are also great. (I have yet to read both those other series, but recognise characters which feature in them.)
Brie and Kira are fantastic on their own, but throwing them together and making them both the main characters is brilliant. They are both so strong, physically and mentally, and have both been through alot, but in their different ways. Having points of view from both of them is what is makes this book so brilliant.
Overall, I enjoyed this book and loved the storyline, the characters and the plot development. I’m really looking forward to reading this next on the series. I would definitely recommend this whole series.

Elf Mastery by Bryant Reil
Kyla Nim has left home to find her role in the World of Order. She meets Eunoe (YOON-way), an alseid who knits DNA to create animals, and Aspen, a dryad who helps trees and flowers blossom through song. Alongside Aura the Daughter of the Air, Denzig the Dragon, Saul the Satyr, and Lug the loveable stone elemental, Kyla works to find some hidden talent she can use to better the world.
Though Kyla is distressed at her eventual assignment as a mere messenger, on one of her missions she stumbles across a plot by Erebus, god of darkness, to envelop the world in eternal night. Finding herself pursued by Erebus’ deadly Avowed disciples, Kyla traverses rivers of lava and ancient underground caverns as she seeks to prevent an eternity void of light.
I enjoyed reading this book. The story was great and interesting, the characters were good, the plot developed well and moved at a good pace.
The characters were well described and it was great to read such a great variety of them. I like Eunoe and Aspen the most.
Kyla was a good main character, although I did find her childish and annoying at times and felt she did need a good slap now and again. I did feel that it was just in her nature to be that way and she did save everyone in the end, so she wasn’t all that bad. She would have been stuck if it wasn’t for her friends though.
The storyline was great and I enjoyed reading it. The world the characters lived in was imaginative and exciting to learn about, from their life at school to the sun and stars.
The only thing I would say was that the chapters could be broken up better. You could be reading about one character, then it would move to another, and then back to the other character which was a little bit annoying for me. I prefer to read one solid character or scene per chapter and not multiple ones per chapter, although thats just my personal preference and this was the reason I dropped a star.
Overall, I enjoyed this book and would definitely recommend it. I’m intrigued to see what the next book is about.

Resonance (The Game is Life Book 9) by Terry Schott
This is the 9th book in The Game is Life series.
Are thousands of orbs, with each containing a reality housing billions of souls, about to burn out and die?
Can Trew find his daughter, or will everything he has sacrificed be for nothing?
And what impact will a young scientist who believes that his reality exists inside of a computer simulation make on his world?
I absolutely love this series, and this book was great to read. It led on from the previous books and added to The Game world.
The whole series is well thought out and great to read. All the characters are great and their own storylines add to the bigger picture, the Trew to the old man, and Cooper to Samson. They are all necessary characters.
With each new reality and revelation comes more questions. It gets confusing to follow at times, but they eventually work out with questions answered.
I would definitely recommend this series, however the individual books will make zero sense unless they are all read in order. They are definitely worth the effort though and will make you question your own existence.

Zero Hour (The Child Thief #6) by Bella Forrest
This is the 6th and final book in the series.
The final book. The final mission. The final hour.
Time’s up.
Everything Robin has fought for hangs in the balance, and she no longer knows who to trust. But when hiding is no longer an option for Little John, Nathan must put his decades-old plan into motion… whether they are prepared or not.
The book was absolutely brilliant. It moved at an exciting fast pace, the characters continued to be great and the storyline progressed and finished well.
Robin was brilliant in this book. She was really thrown into the deep end of things, yet managed to keep fairly calm and do what she was meant to do. She was brave, yet still felt fear. Jace was a solid rock for her, but he also had fear towards some of the missions they had to face and he was scared of losing her. Their love for eachother has been great to see develop.
The rest of Team Hood were also brilliant characters. Each one was important and added to the plot. The series wouldn’t have been the same without any of them. Nathan was a brilliant leader for Little John and the cause. He really came across as brave in this book, yet we really saw his emotions start to come out. It has been nice getting to know him along woth Robin and the team.
This whole book was fast paced which was exciting to read. There wasn’t a dull moment. The ending was a happy and satisfying one. All the terrible times, missions and loss they endured throughout their missions was alot, so it was a great ending to read.
I’m kind of sad that this was the final book of the series. It was one that really drew me in. Overall, I would definitely recommend reading this series from the start. It was just brilliant.

Harley Merlin and the Cult Of Eris by Bella Forrest
This is the 6th book in the Harley Merlin series.
Harley has a game plan to stop the third ritual: infiltrate the Cult of Eris and steal back her mother’s soul. But her only way in is through her devious half-brother Finch—the same guy who was Katherine’s most devoted bootlicker not too long ago.
Joining a cult counts as sibling bonding time, right?
Left with no choice but to break Finch out of prison, Harley must play the part of a loyal cultist. Within Katherine’s inner circle, deadly initiation trials and watchful enemies make every moment a battle for survival.
Harley hasn’t forgotten that Finch once belonged to the cult himself, and she wonders if she’ll end up with a valuable new ally… or a knife in the back.
I absolutely love this series, and this book definitely didn’t let me down. It was exciting from the start, the storyline is great, the characters great and the plot continued to develop well.
Harley is continuing to be a brilliant character. She is so fierce and brave and just wants to do good by everyone. She is slowly getting a grip of her powers and overwhelming amount of chaos in this book. There were some touching moments with certain family aspects as well which were enjoyable to read.
Finch’s point of view was fascinating to read. He has been this big criminal from the start, so getting a look inside his head was interesting. The others in the rag team were naturally weary of him, but seeing his view on things was a stark change to what we should think about him. Seeing his relationship with Harley develop was great to read. They both long for a true family, and yet, with eachother, they have it.
The storyline developed well and moved at a brilliant fast pace. Getting a glimpse into Katherine’s lear was interesting. It’s no surprise that Katherine keeps succeeding in the rituals and I almost want her to keep doing so, just so this series doesn’t end.
Overall, this series is still one of my favourites. I think if you haven’t embraced yourself into Harley Merlin’s world, then you are really missing out.

Portals (Into The Galaxy Book 1) by Ann Christy
This is the first book of the series.
The world sees the portals as an invasion. For Lysa, they’re an invitation.
The portals appeared without warning. Every thirteen minutes they take a thousand humans, leaving exact duplicates in their place. Now, chaos reigns and no one is sure anyone is still the person they knew. Whoever is sending the portals has destroyed human society without firing a shot.
Not everyone thinks the portals are a prelude to invasion. Lysa, a student far too bright for her own good, believes the portals might even be something wonderful. There must be a logical reason for the portals, and that means something alive and thinking on the other side of those shimmering holes in our reality. Her burning curiosity leads her to do the unthinkable; she leaps through a portal meant for another.
What she finds is a galaxy teeming with life, worlds beyond imagining, and two terrible truths: Earth is in danger, and the portals are a one-way trip. Stranded in an alien civilization, Lysa will have to use her ingenuity to find a way home and warn Earth before it’s too late.
I enjoyed reading this book and found it very enlightening. The characters were great, the storyline was good and the plot developed well.
Lysa was a great character. She was just a normal human, but with alot of determination and bravery. She took a leap of faith and found herself in an unusual situation, of which she has ended up making the best of.
Jack was also a great character. He was different and I enjoyed learning about him. He was a rock for Lysa in this strange place and the connection they built was great to read. Hub was also a great addition to the book, and I found myself feeling sorry after Hub’s personal story.
The storyline was great and I felt that I went on a journey reading it. We learn everything as Lysa does, and it was all interesting information. At some places, there was a slight overload, but it didn’t stop me from enjoying it. The plot did also slow a tad in the middle, but it soon picked up again.
The descriptions were great and you could really picture the scenes in your mind, and visually imagine the characters. The added picture right at the end was a fantastic end.
I’m looking forward to seeing what happens next. The characters were great and the story was interesting. Overall, I would definitely recommend it.

Anyone Else? By Angela Scott
This is the second book in the Anyone series.
Surviving an apocalypse sucks. It totally does. Instead of counting herself lucky to be alive, Tess struggles to find the will to keep placing one foot in front of the other, especially when the most she ever had to worry about before the meteor catastrophe was whether she’d have a date to prom.
Climbing mountains—again—dealing with the lack of food, clean water, and wondering what the point of it all is doesn’t feel much like luck at all. More like punishment.
Maybe it’d be different if she had Cole by her side, as troublesome and irritating as he could be. But he doesn’t seem to be anywhere, and Tess wonders if he’d ever truly been there in the first place. Her dad and brother don’t buy her story of a lone wolf coming to her rescue, and as things become more and more difficult, she’s slowly beginning to doubt herself, too.
Real? Imaginary? A product of her delusional mind? Cole’s existence—or nonexistence—remains a mystery because this time around, there’s more than just herself and a kitten to take care of. This time, someone vulnerable depends on her strength and bravery more than ever before.
I really enjoyed reading this book, as I did with the first. Tess is a great character, as is Cole, the storyline moves at a good pace and develops well and Tess’ cat is amazing. This book, as with the first, has had me quite emotionally invested.
Tess is still not the best at surviving an apocalypse in this book, however, she gets shoved into the thick of it with certain responsibilities thrown at her. I felt she adapted well to everything and did witness and experience some true horrors, which is what makes her such a good character. She’s down to earth and relatable.
I absolutely love her cat, Callie. She is by far my favourite thing about this book. The descriptions and actions with this cat are so accurate and it’s really making me smile reading it. I can relate to some things with having cats myself.
Cole is becoming a mystery. I love him as a character, even though he can be frustrating at times. It was great to see him finally loosen up abit at the end. I’m hoping that all these coincidences surrounding him will be explained in the next book.
I enjoyed some of the humour in this book, such as with the deer. It did make me laugh at times which doesn’t often happen with me and books. I found it well written and Tess’ thoughts shown well. These incidences are a nice contrast to the setting and events of the apocalypse.
The only thing about this series so far which I have found slightly annoying is the overly American phrases. That’s most likely because I’m British and don’t necessarily understand them all. Like a pacifier? It’s a dummy. And band-aid – It’s bandage or a plaster. Just my English mind with that though.
Overall, I have thoroughly enjoyed this series so far and I’m looking forward to the next one. I would definitely recommend it.
