Granted RyanAir makes even Go Air look like five star luxury but it was also my first time flying over Europe! From the brusqueness of Berlin to the super friendly (even when they're demonstrating) Athens. Here's sunrise this morning but I'm lying down on a hotel bed now. My winter boots were maybe not made for walking. Been to #Athens before? Send me tips! #traveldiary

Yesterday I was suddenly overcome with a wave of exhaustion (walking all day will do that to a person) so we just walked down to a mini pizza stop and then I napped all day. Never doubt the reviving power of bright red lipstick to make you APPEAR bright eyed and bushy tailed even if you're dead inside. Also this ski jacket I bought at the Noida Decathlon has made back its money in spades. I wear it out with just a t-shirt inside and I'm toasty warm and right on style point if fashionable Berliners are anything to go by. #selfie #traveldiary

The TV tower was absolutely stunning against the sky yesterday. Don't forget to check out my travel blog too for more of my Berlin adventures. #traveldiary #berlin

We don't need no thought control: Berlin travel blog post 3

Yesterday was spent walking around a flea market where I bought a hat which I'm calling vintage but might just be plain old second hand. As you can see the weather is ridiculously amazing: sunshine, blue skies and no hints of the rain my weather app is forecasting direly. *touches wood*

This at Mauer Park, mauer being the German word for "wall" and all along this neighborhood and others, there are testimonies, pictures and text about the time the city was cleaved in two.

We spend all day on our feet. I've been walking upwards of 4 km every day and also several hours. Which may not seem like a lot, but when you're as sedentary as I am, by the end of it, it feels like my hip is going to pop out of its socket.

I learnt a new word which is so perfect, and I didn't even know how much I needed it until we met. Glotz. It's German for watching something mindlessly, like binge watching TV. GLOTZ. I love it.

My German is actually really coming along but I'm too shy to actually practice on people. However, I can understand a lot of signs now and it's sort of cool how it all comes together like a big logic puzzle in your brain.

Stopped off for a quick snack of beef tacos and a margarita at Kreuzberg's amazing Santa Maria. This should be everyone's evening pick-me-up! #berlin. #traveldiary

Yesterday was a full-on museum day for us, checked out some art and some history. Seen here at the Wall Panorama, a temporary installation for the 25th anniversary of the Berlin Wall coming down. An artist who used to live in West Berlin just outside the wall took photos every day and these were stitched together in a life-sized panorama beyond this room. This section had wall replicas you could write on and stories from people who were there. (by the way, my blog totally has regular travel updates posted if you'd like to see more of museum day and general travel.) #berlin #berlinwall #traveldiary

From the Berggruen Museum today. Gorgeous private collection of one eccentric millionaire full of Picasso and Matisse, possibly my two favourite artists. Also included in the price of the ticket was an excellent audio guide. #traveldiary #berlin

The real Berliner. One of the biggest legends about Berlin was when JFK was here and he said, "ich bin ein Berliner." but did he mean a citizen of the city or a jelly doughnut? Now he's dead so we may never know. Meanwhile, the lady who sold this to us was quite sniffy about the name. "it's just called a pancake not a Berliner," she said, and when K insisted, she added, "maybe it's just something West Berliners say." point of note: We're in West Berlin. #traveldiary #ifitwalkslikeadoughnut #berlin

I see your fall colours shining: day two in Berlin

Went for a long walk in a park today and I was struck by all the colours. I mean, I've seen orange and yellow trees in movies but at home, the trees and foliage is all green.

The Good Thing is eager to introduce me to all his favourite Berlin food. This is from an excellent soup place next to his parents house here. They have different soups every day and so hearty and delicious they "taste like a hug" as the American on the next table said. We've also had the famous doner kebab he's been going on about, very different from the Delhi version. Oh also this is beef. I'm eating all the beef.

Next to the park, a house with red ivy. Did you know ivy could be red too? I didn't. So beautiful.

Bit blurry but topical, a sign at a speech therapist saying 'refugees welcome.' isn't this a great city? I'm in love.
