The Illusion Almanac

The Illusion Almanac

I’m a firm believer that less is more. However, today I’m going to stick my neck out and assert that more is more.

“More what?” I hear you cry.

“More website,” I reply.

My brand new website, to be precise: The Illusion Almanac.

Why build a new site? Well, for a long time, the website you’re currently looking at has been the home not only for my fiction projects and general writing news, but also for the journalistic work I do covering film and television – in particular visual ef...

Short Story Sale – Castellia

Castellia

My short story Castellia has just been accepted for publication in The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction. It’s my first piece of short fiction for a while, and my first appearance in the legendary magazine that’s been inspiring readers since 1949. I couldn’t be more thrilled!

Watch out for Castellia in F&SF later this year.

Ghostwriting Confidential

Typewriter photo by Valerio Errani from Pexels Photo by  Valerio Errani  from  Pexels

I took on my first ghostwriting assignment in 2007, working with a book packager on a crime novel that was eventually published in 2008. Since then, I’ve ghostwritten over a dozen novels for both adults and younger readers. As I write this post, I’m almost exactly halfway through ghostwriting a new middle-grade fantasy trilogy, the first instalment of which is published this May.

Like many authors, I pursue ghostwriting in tandem with my own personal wri...

Cinefex 1980-2021

Cinefex 1980-2021

There was this kid who grew up on the south coast of England in the 1970s, devouring television shows like Thunderbirds and Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea and Doctor Who and cutting his cinematic teeth on Jaws and Star Wars and Close Encounters of the Third Kind, while at the same time building his collection of maybe a zillion or so plastic construction kits and drawing all kinds of crazy stuff out of his imagination, all of which was kind of a prelude to the 1980s when as a teenager he ga...

20 Years of Stone

The Stone trilogy of fantasy novels by Graham Edwards - Stone & Sky, Stone & Sea, Stone & Sun

The year 2021 marks the 20th anniversary of the conclusion of one of my favourite fiction projects, the Stone trilogy.

This set of three fantasy novels – Stone & Sky, Stone & Sea, Stone & Sun – was published by Voyager books, the science fiction and fantasy imprint of HarperCollins, between 1999-2001. Through the course of the trilogy, I took my hero, Victorian explorer Jonah Lightfoot, and his Kansan companion Annie West on a wild adventure across the vertiginous face of a strange world ...

The String City Mysteries – Now in Paperback

The String City Mysteries by Graham Edwards, paperback edition

Hot on the heels of the Kindle edition, I’m delighted to announce The String City Mysteries is now available in paperback. Its pages are bulging with werewolves and titans, angels and zombies, murder, love and, above all, mystery. There’s never been a better time to explore the extraordinary world of String City in the company of an interdimensional detective with a nose for an unusual case … and a rather remarkable coat.

The String City Mysteries is a collection of seven novelettes first...

Okay, full disclosure, The String City Mysteries is not entirely new. It’s a collection of seven novelettes first published in Realms of Fantasy magazine, and later as individual ebooks by 40K Books. Now, for the first time, they’ve been assembled into a single volume.
