Ermana Talks

You think the drakonile hunting Rohi does is so macho? You should try teaching her anything! Hi, I’m Ermana Viejo. Yeah. Drakonian Pink’s big sister. I used to call Rohiya “Pink” to aggravate her, but it mostly only riled up Mama. I’m the one who taught Rohi how to fashion that one drakonile handbag she ever made, kill to carry.

Vote: What should we call ourselves?

My family calls my study “The Lair,” so I’ve named correspondence from DCHarrell.com “Letters from the Lair”  and my cat Briscoe “the Lair Cat.” What should D.C. Harrell readers, newsletter recipients and advocates like you be called (champions, heralds, accomplices)? I asked for brainstorms from those who attended the Dragon Hoard signing party. Here’s what they came […]

6 Reviews Unlock Dragon Fairy Tale #7

Briscoe the Lair Cat here, babysitting the dragons, while She-Who-Writes does her volunteer stuff. (It’s about time!) Meanwhile, there’s a new Dragon Fairy Tale egg rocking back and forth on the shelf. It’s trying to hatch for you to read, but the mamma book Dragon Hoard isn’t helping. Instead, she’s flapping around, trying to gain the […]

Opening Dragon Hoard Proof Copy

Big Happiness ~ While I was on vacation at my folks’, the proof copy of Dragon Hoard arrived. My sister recorded me opening it “live” four times before we figured out how to do it so that it would fit on all the social media sites. But even that was fun.

K. M. Shea Recommends Dragon Hoard

Dragon Hoard by D.C. Harrell [is] a collection of beautiful dragon fairy tale stories. While they aren’t your average fairy tales, they are beautifully told as if you were listening to a storyteller. (It’s a bit like a collection of Brothers Grimm fairy tales, so if you enjoy those, this is your book!) – K. M. Shea, […]

Is it summer yet?

One of the signs of summer is a fat novel in my hand. In the car. On the airplane. (Well, Kindle for the plane.) In bed. While I make the bed. (I’m talented like that.) Lazing around refusing to get out of my pajamas. At the beach. (Got out of my pjs.) While I do the […]

And the Meme of the Story Is . . .

Do you remember how old fashioned fairytales ended? When I was a kid, fairytales always ended with the phrase, “And the moral of the story is. . . .” Now story-morals are called “memes” and readers inscribe them on little pictures that they share all over social media, like this: In Dragon Hoard, the moral […]
