Author Interview: Mandy White

Please tell us a little about yourself.
I am a Canadian writer from Vancouver Island, British Columbia. I live on a lake and enjoy the outdoors.
What do you write (genre, length)?
I write speculative fiction. Most of it falls under the horror genre, but some is just plain weird. I’m a big fan of The Twilight Zone, Outer Limits, and Black Mirror and it’s reflected in my work. I have written a few full-length novels but have a special fondness for short stories, both reading and writ...

Author Interview: Jay Veloso Batista

Please tell us a little about yourself.
My name is Jay Veloso Batista, and yes, the middle name is important to avoid brand confusion with the wrestler! I live in Ocean View, Delaware, on a lake house with my gardens, only a few miles from the Atlantic Ocean, and 2 hours from Washington, DC to the west and Philadelphia to the north. For 30+ years I worked in international business and traveled the world—on the monthly excessively long flights I read many, many books! Regrettably over edu...

We Start at the End

“Papa had been a good man,” Ava Bähr whispered to herself. The photos hit her like a punch to the stomach, stealing her air, making her reel.
Rays of sunlight illuminated the motes of dust floating in her mother’s attic as memories—beautiful memories—played in front of her: days spent rowing on the lake with her brothers; picnics with the neighbors; bringing food to the elderly members of their close-knit community.
He taught us to be good people. To love one another. How did I not kno...

Author Interview: Katherine Gunnoe

Please tell us a little about yourself.
I am a nearly thirty college graduate working a full-time job that has absolutely zero to do with my degree (it pays well). I write part-time during most evenings when I am not playing or DMing Dungeons and Dragons. It’s one of the few things that keeps me sane while working my day job, and something I very much hope to do full-time in the future.
What do you write (genre, length)?
I primarily write fantasy fiction, though I have been looking...

Author Interview: L.A. Guettler

Please tell us a little about yourself.
I’m a lifelong Illinoisan, married with two teenage kids. I’ve been a writer my whole life—when I was 6 or 7, I filled a spiral notebook with a “novel” about two twin princesses named Justine and Justinea. There was a talking rabbit and a forbidden magical forest, yadda yadda. Today, I write professionally as a freelancer in the health care industry. I’ve got 3 cats, 2 dogs, 9 chickens, and (ugh) my son has a tarantula. I write my fiction under my m...

Happy Memorial Day!

I hope everyone has a safe, fun Memorial Day!
Please take a moment today to remember why we celebrate and to thank the men and women who gave their lives in service to the United States.
I took the above photo at the Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial when I visited in 2004. It’s truly a humbling place.

Author Interview: Claire Buss

Please tell us a little about yourself.
Hi, my name is Claire and I like long walks by the beach… oh wait, that’s not what you want lol. I’m a stay at home mum to two little darlings, the deputy editor of Write On! Magazine and a multi-genre author. I read lots, try to write lots, love watching movies, baking and eating cake!
What do you write (genre, length)?
I write a variety of different things. The Gaia Collection trilogy is my hopeful dystopia series. The Rose Thief, The Inte...

Author Interview: Nico Bell
Im Nico Bell, and I consider myself to be a feminist horror author. That term means different things to different authors, but for me it means that I actively work toward giving women a voice in the horror community and breaking stereotypes in regard to female characters and how females are portrayed in horror stories.
In addition to writing books, Im also a horror and science fiction book reviewer for Scificandscary.com, where we strive to boost...

Meant for Her: Part 4
I sat down the street from her bungalow in my new Mustang. Of course I wondered if Shelby would think Id given up on her, with her not knowing Id bought this car, one almost matching hers. It was my surprise to her. Yeah, it took all my savings, but it was worth it. Making myself what she deserved and needed. After four months of teasing one another, the time was coming to be together. Things were coming together.
She stopped, as usual, when she saw the envelope propped up next to her door....
