New WIP

I’ve hit a bit of a writer’s block with Catheryn the Courageous. I still come up with ideas for it every now and then, but there’s no inspiration to write.

I however have been working on a new book. It currently has no title but I do hope you enjoy this excerpt.

Mood boards – CTC

A few weeks ago I created mood boards for the main characters of my upcoming book. I created them to obtain the aesthetic of my characters and help me get to know them. At the time I wanted to write, but wasn’t in the mood/didn’t have the inspiration to, so I created these mood boards. I thought I’d share these mood boards here and explain some of my choices. Warning – spoilers if you haven’t read Blair the Brave.

Catheryn Haynesworth is the curly blonde haired sister of Maxwell Haynesworth – a character in Blair the Brave. A fellow dragon hunter, she carries the dagger given to her family to protect her. Her favorite color is red, she loves chocolate, lilies, and prefers more sincere and thoughtful dates such as picnics. Catheryn is a successful businesswoman and due to her being a dragon hunter, she’s traveled to many places. She has reached the final chapter of being a dragon hunter and is ready to settle down and find love. While writing about Catheryn, I found it suited her to wear heels, pumps, or boots with a heel.

Elric is a dragon that has crossed paths with Catheryn many times. He was once a noble knight hundreds of years ago. Although the temperature doesn’t affect him, Elric often wears a leather jacket. When I had first introduced Elric into the series, I had no idea who he was or what his likes were. I’ve discovered Elric rides a motorcycle, listens to rock music, likes to cook, and keeps it casual with a basic t-shirt, leather jacket, jeans and a pair of boots.

1 year!

It’s been a year since I published my first book Another Chance at Love! I have come so far since my first book and I’m proud of the writer I have become. I can’t wait to see what other stories await me!

Catheryn the Courageous

“Catheryn, I would like to introduce you to my cousin, Thomas. Thomas this is my sister-in-law who I was telling you about.”

Thomas gave her a smile and offered his hand. He said to her, “I didn’t expect her to be so beautiful.” As the red grew in Catheryn’s cheeks, Thomas brought her knuckles up to his lips. Thomas had remained in his old-fashioned ways.

“I’ll leave you to it,” Blair said walking away, happy with her successful match.

Catheryn asked him, “What side of Blair’s family are you from?”

“Her dad’s, I’m Lucy’s older brother,” he replied. “Blair mentioned you were hunter, but said that you and your siblings were stopping, what are you doing now?”

She shrugged and said, “Anything that interests me. I own a business, but it doesn’t really need me anymore.”

“You’re immortal, you can do everything.” Catheryn nodded in agreement and Thomas said, “Looks like my sister has made a friend.”

Perks of Dragons

I have realized that when writing about dragons there are many perks to it. My top favorite is learning about the history my characters have come from. For example in my book Blair the Brave Blair and her family come from Viking times-they weren’t the vicious and gore type ones though. It’s part of the reason Blair’s weapon of choice was an axe. In my next book Catheryn the Courageous I’m writing about a dragon who was once a knight. I get to delve into more medieval times and actions of that time. I also love writing about people who have more old-fashioned ways and mannerisms.

Another perk of dragons is their powers. I can have these dragons with different types of powers, and I do have many. I’ve used ice, fire, plants, healing, creating metals, super strength, and using other dragon’s powers. There are powers to come, so far I have planned a dragon who can feel other’s emotions and influence them and another can camouflauge themselves.
