Seek No Validation
When you see children play, you will notice an inherent behaviour in them, they follow
their own instinct, they pick up anything out of the blue while their mothers run to
save the expensive ceramic bowl, they jump, they run, walk outdoor and do whatever
they want to do without seeking any validation from their parents or people living
around them – they are like free birds, they do not listen or pay any heed to any
opinion whatsoever forced upon or taught by their parents, but as they grow up, the
conditioning of societal rules starts getting a grip over their minds, and soon they look
for validation and opinions for what they are doing…
Famous American hip-hop star, Lecrae, said very aptly: ‘If you live for people’s
acceptance, you will die from their rejection.’
There is no one better than you to validate your decisions, there is no one better
than you to opine on your quest of life. No one else other than you can understand the
purpose of your life. You should never seek validation from others on your life.
The difference between average achievers and exceptional achievers is this simple
thing – The exceptional people never look for anyone’s opinion on what they are doing;
for them, their inner voice is the decisive authority. They are guided and fuelled up by
their inner passion and Self, they do not look for approvals outside, they turn inwards
and reap the benefits of following their heart and soul.
Even if the path they are treading is unconventional and 99 out of 100 people are
advising them to understand the perils of walking on such an adverse route, if they are
convinced with their inner self, they will not think even twice to accelerate further –
they are beyond ordinary. They do not look to walk on familiar and crowded routes,
they take the roads less travelled, they sail in turbulent winds and unknown waters, for
them getting lost is the only way to find their true calling.
Whatever you are doing in your life or whatever is your current situation, if you
have a shining dream in your eyes then stop seeking validation from others and follow
your heart as only you know how far you can go, have faith in your dream, do not fear
failures, it will only prepare you for a grander success in future.
If someone tells you that your dream is impossible, don’t be discouraged as it’s
simply a reflection of their own shortcomings and reflections, you are the skipper of
your life.
At this time, I remember the poem ‘Invictus’ by William Earnest Henley, first
published in 1875. It was also the favourite poem of Nelson Mandela and which kept
him going in prison at Roben Island in South Africa:
Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the Pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.
In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.
Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find, me unafraid.
It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll.
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.

Pressurised Cabin- Create a Gap between you and your Mind
Hi All,
I am delighted to share one of my favourite chapter of my first Book SoulCuppa- The Cup of Soul, It will really bring a paradigm shift to your perspective, Enjoy and Happy Reading...
Pressurised Cabin
When you travel by airplane, you often hear your captain soon after take-off or somewhere in the middle of the flight announce ‘Outside the air temperature is around -43° celsius, but we are maintaining a comfortable cabin temperature of 24° celsius for your comfort.’ This sounds assuring, especially on long-haul overseas flights.
The process of cabin pressurisation ensures that conditioned air is being pumped in to the cabin for the comfort and safety of passengers and crew flying at high altitudes
of somewhere around 35,000 feet.
The pressurised cabin is comfortable, steady and reduces the risk of many physiological factors like Air Altitude sickness or Hypoxia
or lack of oxygen – sitting at an altitude of 35,000 feet, you are being protected from
outside turbulence and weather.Imagine your inner being, thoughts, emotions and mind as a pressurised cabin, and all the turbulence of rough weather and high altitude as the outer world of your life, where you are connected with other people and address real-time situations or problems.
In order to live a content and happy life, we all need to practice this habit of
cultivating this psychology of living in a ‘Pressurised Cabin.’ There may be a lot
of turbulence, difficulties and problems appearing in the outer world, but if you
consistently fill your cabin with conditioned air, you will always be at ease and calm.
The outer world always appears chaotic, challenging, full of obstructions, people
cheating on you, backstabbing you, but with the right control on emotions and mind in
your inner being, you can always overcome the dangers of the outer world. You need to
look inward and maintain complete calm and happiness to sail through the turbulent
weather outside.
The world will seldom act according to your wish. If you are flying at a high
altitude, which most of the aspiring professionals of our age do, you are bound to come across factors that can shake your world beyond comprehension, but if you have an intact inner pressurised cabin with the right thoughts, controlled reactions and inner
happiness, you will never be bothered by these external threats.
Most things appear dangerous to our own minds; they look at least ten times more
difficult and challenging in our mind from what they actually are in the real world.
You have seen some people around you who are always at ease in any given situation
howsoever challenging. They do not have any special qualification and are as talented
as you are, but they have a better ‘Pressurised Cabin’ at their disposal. They know that the outside world does not have the capacity to disturb their inner peace one bit and that soon the circumstances will change, or they are not that bad as they seemed to our mind and to the incessant negative thought process.
I agree you may have a very difficult personal and professional life that may
jeopardise your entire existence, but what will happen when you encounter them in an
anxious state of mind? You tend to misjudge, react adversely to make it worse or maybe
your panic-ridden response could further aggravate it. But if you approach it with
complete inner harmony and control of your thoughts, you shall be able to address
them more practically and can provide logical solutions. It happens all the time – our
own reaction can make or break 90% of our problems.
A person who is inward looking and maintains a cohesiveness with his mind, body
and spirit takes everything that happens in the outer world as mere turbulence that are
temporary in nature or a foundation for future growth. They consistently fill up their
inner being with the conditioned air of rationality, contentment, faith and joy – they
know that after a while, everything passes in this universe.
‘Remember, it’s not in your control, what will happen to you. What is in your control is
your response to that happening.’
“If you have an intact inner pressurised cabin with the right thoughts, controlled reactions and inner happiness, you will never
be bothered by these external threats'
