Book Three going out of KU this month.

Hey guys,

No new book coming out this month. :(

In other news I'm about done with a first draft of a kind of tragic romance. Not really a tropey romance, but I still think it's enjoyable.

+++

News for this month: Download It's Just Us Here: The Partner before June 7th because it's coming out of KU. Sorry. :(

KU has an exclusivity clause and in order to make it on a bestseller list, I have to cross a certain threshold of sales on multiple stores. So Book Three is going out of KU this month in preparation for 'the big promotional push'. Then Book One next month. Then Book Two in August (when I have a new book coming out, stay tuned for that).

I haven't decided if the last five books will be in KU or not. I was leaning towards not, but now I have a longer view in my plans so I suspect all the books will spend at least three months in KU. This is what KU does to an author, you get readers from that platform and then you don't want to disappoint them, which locks you into the Kindle store with their exclusivity contracts. Boo. Otherwise I love KU. :)

Okay, that's enough talking about KU. Plus, most of you reading this post have probably already read/downloaded the books anyway.

Happy Pride!

It's Just Us Here: Book Five!

Hey Guys,

Book Five is out today on Amazon! Get it here.

I must not have selected the little button to enroll Book Five in KU. I've done that now and it could take up to 24 hours to take effect! Sorry for the wait.

+++

Today is launch day for It's Just Us Here: The Stud. This installment ends in heartbreak and there are cracks in the relationship throughout. However, there's a lot of love and tenderness and I think you'll enjoy the ride.

+++

I'm almost done with writing the five remaining books. At this point, I'm making sure I have the 'connective tissue' between the main sections. So it's not really 'writing' new material.

I'm currently on Book Ten and working on the ending. Then I'll swing back and iron out Book Seven (which has been a pain in the neck from the beginning). Then I'll begin the beta reading process and final edits in early June. It's all coming together!

All the best,
Chris

$0.99 Launch and a free book

Hey Guys!

And now, we jump back into It's Just Us Here, the romantic self-portrait between an asexual man, Chris, and the vain male model (ish) Mark. This installment recounts the beginning of their physical relationship. If you want to skip the slow slow slow burn of the first three books that got them to this momentous occasion, you can start at Book Four: The Lover and get a pretty good story! This is like the start of Season Two of a television series.

=++=
NEWS:

Book Four: The Lover publishes tomorrow (or a few hours ago, if you live in Australia).

First, KU people... go and get it!

Second, everyone else, tomorrow I'll adjust the price to $0.99 and leave it there until Thursday/Friday.

I hope as many people as possible check it out during this window. Thank you to everyone for following along so far. You're the first few hundred to have read my story and I'm honored. I can't give you much in return... basically only a discounted book. Thank you so much for your support!

Also, I'm thinking about making Book One: The Friend free for the weekend. If you miss the freebie, fear not, Book One will go on and off free periodically. I happen to think that's the most important book in the series, even though it ends in an unusual place by normal standards. I think it's important for a book that ends with a semi-romantic QPR be as widely available as possible... so that means free... eventually.

Now, back to the current book release...

Enjoy Book Four: The Lover!

Book Three up on Amazon

It's Just Us Here: The Partner ... An asexual man falls in love with a male model... and they make it work.

***

Hey Guys!

In the next couple hours, It's Just Us Here: The Partner will go live on Amazon. Download the book on KU tomorrow and help it rise through the ranks. ;) I'm stressed out and off to get some sleep!

This third book completes a significant story arc--Friends to Lovers. If you were waiting to try the series until all ten books are out, I think you'd be safe to try the first three and feel like it's a completed story. (But what do I know, I'm biased.) Maybe think of this like the end of Season One? This 'tv series' will end after Season Three.

Speaking of endings... please don't be the kind of person who skips to the last page before you start reading this third book! Trust me. I know you're all really good about spoilers and stuff... but please, please, please nobody share the last line. I beg of you! No highlights! No spoiler tags!

Thanks. Hope you like it. :)
Chris

Also, Book Four will be discounted to $0.99 during release week around April 10th so skip the preorder on the next book. I want to see how high the book will rise if the maximum amount of sales/borrows are condensed into a few days. See you then!

Book Two, The Companion, is up on Amazon!

Hey guys!

Thanks for all the support with Book One! January was amazing and it looks like February will be even better!

Now on to The Companion. Get it on Amazon. It'll be in KU for three months!

The brilliant amazing Xia Xia Lake has read the first five books and says this one is her favorite. Here's here review of Book Two. Also, I love the pictures in Gabi's review! So perfect. lol.

+++

So far the launch looks like everything is in order. I won't be around until later this afternoon so if something goes wrong, feel free to email me and I'll get on it tonight!

For those of you wondering where I'll be, my dad 'volunteered' me to help lift boulders with him today. Not kidding. He's installing stone steps and they are sooo heavy. He told me this last night *after* I did my first triceps workout in almost a year. Like, I blasted them hard and now they're jelly and I'm basically not going to be able to lift anything. Oops. Should have told me sooner, dad!

All the best!
Book Three is mostly ready to go, too. So see you in a month!

Chris

PS: I guess I haven't said it on GR yet, but I'm working on my fitness this year after taking most of last year off. I hope you're still going strong with your resolutions.

Busy Day Tomorrow

Question: Is there a way for me to post a quick update without using the 'blog' function? For example, I'm deciding between writing a short story tomorrow or reading Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince.

That's all.

I don't know where the Harry Potter thing came from. I just looked at my book shelf and that's what called out. lol. Guess I want something familiar.

Possible short story: How's this for a title... The Werewolf Billionaire Lives in a Library! (With exclamation point.)

It started out as a silly, satirical romance, but then a serial killer showed up and there's dead bodies everywhere, so it looks like our shy/nerdy billionaire werewolf is going to reluctantly become the sidekick of a beat reporter. Or something? Also, I don't read werewolf/shifter books, so I have a feeling this might end up as a noir-ish murder mystery.

I haven't written a murder mystery in over two years! I think my subconscious is ready to be unleashed.

This year I'm setting aside one day out of every nine to completely disconnect from IJUH/GR/Amazon/writing pressure. One of those freedays is tomorrow and the crazy ideas are flowing and flowing and flowing. Oops. Now I'm not going to be able to sleep.

What are your thoughts on a werewolf crime-solving billionaire? Maybe I'll spend the day captioning silly animal gifs/videos on Twitter with captions from It's Just Us Here: The Friend.

If you want to help me find cute, relevant twitter stuff (make me laugh!), join me @cheese_sullivan. I'm only going to be on twitter for cute, non-political, non-news stuff and it's only going to be on my Freeday.

See ya around,
Book Two comes out in thirteen days!
Also, in preparation for the Freeday tomorrow, I updated the Amazon pre-order for Book Two so that stuff is completely off my plate. Next I'm working on Patreon special copies then I tackle my editor's comments for Book Three.

Happy Polar Vortex, (It is currently -20 degrees F outside! Ah!)

Book One, The Friend, is up on Amazon!

Hey Guys!

And so it begins!

Get It's Just Us Here: Book One, The Friend, on Amazon (or read with KU)! or check The Friend out on GR!

I was advised to make some marketing/propaganda pictures. Here's what I came up with. (And it was fun, too!) Next time I'll save to png instead of jpg so they don't get so compressed. I'm a n00b!

What if this were a horror story?

Still a horror story...

And he's forcing me into the gym... so still a horror story?

A note on length: I consider this 'series' of books to be one consecutive story. However, you don't have to read the whole thing all at once and there are some natural jump off/jump on points.

Book One can stand on its own as a complete story. Some of you may jump off the series there.

Book One is also part of a "Friends to Lovers" trilogy. If you make it to Book Three, you may want to jump off or 'pause' the series there. Some of you may want to jump in the series at Book Four, after the angst of "Friends to Lovers".

+++

Thank you to annob for combining the GR versions. I was wondering why the GR links didn't send to the right Amazon page!

I'm still waiting for the Amazon confirmation email saying my book is available everywhere. Maybe it got eaten by the system? (There seems to have been some behind the scenes shenanigans going on at Amazon over the past week or so... but when isn't that the case?) Who knows?

Hopefully you can find it HERE.

All the best,
Chris

PS: I know I put a nekkid male torso in one of my propaganda pictures... so that's the one you'll probably read first. lol.

Book One ARCs and publication info!

Hey Guys!

And so the journey begins! Book One, It's Just Us Here: The Friend, is completely done and ready for ARCs. Publication is on Jan 8th.

It won't have pre-orders. All subsequent books will be available for pre-order.

If you want an ARC, send me a message on Goodreads (or email) within the next couple weeks. I'd appreciate it if your reviews could come in over the two weeks after publication, not all concentrated on one day. Thanks!

If you plan on buying the book and live somewhere that doesn't have KU, please please please sign up for my Patreon at the $3 level! You'll get the book at least a week in advance of publication as well as a nifty 40% discount (yet more money will go in my bank account than if you were to buy it on Amazon--at a $5 list price, $3.25 goes to the Zon, which is unacceptable to me).

If your country's Amazon store has KU, you're still welcome to follow my journey on Patreon, but Amazon is fairer in its pay structure. So feel no pressure from me on that front!

Feel free to read on KU, but I'll be taking it out of the program in the beginning of April!

+++

And I'm off to finish drafting the last book in this series. I'll have it done before the end of the year, which is crazy! Last December I assumed it would take me three years to reach this point, yet here I am. I can't say it's all been as smooth sailing as a normal writing project, but it has been worth all the sacrifices me and my family have made.

Thanks to everyone involved! If you have any ideas/advice to make this a successful launch, I'm always open to ideas. :) Send me a message. If you know someone who might like this kind of a story, give 'em a nudge in my direction.

Okay, I'm really going to get back to work now. Haha.

Oh and PS, that CYOA story fizzled. It's not dead, but I'm currently stumped. However, don't be surprised if it returns from hibernation a few months from now when I'm finished with editing all of these books and have some more free brain power. ;)

NaNoWriMo!

Hey Guys!

I made a brand new NaNo account. Join me there if you want to be my writing friend and we can encourage each other to hit our word goals. Mine is 2k a day.

https://nanowrimo.org/participants/ch...

This year I'm doing something a little different. I'll be writing a CYOA type romance novel. It will be interactive and it will eventually be experienced through Amazon Alexa. (So if you have an Echo or a Fire tablet.)

I'm pretty excited! A CYOA has been on my bucket list for a long time and now that there's this extra challenge of making it 'voice' accessible. It's got me fired up!

This CYOA will feature all my friends you meet from my self-portrait. I'm planning to have Mark get sucked into a magical situation that ends up being like The Bachelor where all of these guys in Mark's life are gathered for a television dating show.

And you the readers get to decide who he interacts with and what they talk about. I'm excited! But baby steps first. Hopefully by the end of the month I'll have a fully functional 'First Episode' filled with three group dates and a few solo dates plus a 'choosing ceremony'.

I haven't decided if the show crew members should feature in the story or if I should play it like a you're watching a television show.

***
It's Just Us Here UPDATE:

I'm taking a break from thinking about this during NaNoWriMo. I will be making a batch of covers for Books 1-3 this month. After Nano, the schedule isn't going to allow for many breaks like this, so I want to refresh my pallet and prepare for 2019! It's almost here! I should have the entire series compiled and flowing nicely by the end of the year.

STATS:

I've read and edited ALL of Book Eight. Still some rough spots.

I've read MOST of Book Nine. Not many rough spots.

I've written HALF (maybe slightly over half, depending on final chapters) of Book Ten. Rough, but I'm so proud of how the end comes together! In fact, I skipped over the front third to get to the most complex section.

Venus v Serena

Hey Guys,

I won't be able to watch the Venus-Serena US Open match tonight. Previously scheduled plans and all that. Please enjoy it for me. :)

I've watched almost every match they've played against each other since the mid-2000's. Venus Williams is probably my biggest idol. I was fortunate enough to see them live at the US Open in 2015 when Serena was going for the Calendar Year Grand Slam. That was just an amazing battle. It's also the only time I've been to the US Open. (And it was a birthday surprise! You'd think having a birthday so close to the Open would mean I've been to it a few more times... hint, hint.)

In writing news: I'm going to be giving up editing over the next month to two months so that I can finish pulling together the last three books. Starting September 1st I'll be posting my daily word count on Twitter (though I'm keeping it anonymous for now... which kind of defeats the point, but oh well).

If anyone wants to join me on my daily writing challenges, let me know. :) Usually they go something like: write for half an hour every hour. You could modify that to write half an hour, take half an hour off, write for half an hour. So you'd set aside an hour for your writing.

The main point is to get in the habit and keep going every day.

I spent the past few days freeing up my schedule so I can do this focused writing challenge. My apologies to those of you who have messaged me or emailed. I've read them all! I'll have more time starting tomorrow to answer you!

The most significant milestone over the past week has been finally, finally, finally taming Book Six. I was going to go on to Book Seven, but there was just so much nagging me about Book Six that I couldn't in good conscious leave it.

Book Six is currently about 109k words. It'll probably grow by about 10% over the next round of edits. Then it'll shrink by about the same amount when I tighten everything up. Then it'll be ready for first readers.

Lot's planned for September. I hope you are as productive as I plan to be. :) Feel free to write alongside me.

All the best,
Chris

PS: Go Venus. I'm always rooting for Venus, lol.
