Panels

So I didn’t properly announce it anywhere but on social media, but I ended up doing two panels recently!  I got to do my  CosPain  Live Draw panel at  Super MAGFest , and I got to do my Whodrawnit panel at  Ohayocon !  Thank you to everyone who turned up for those events.

As an additional side note, Super MAGFest has a policy that I very much like, where they record all of their panels and post them on YouTube.  Once the footage from this panel posts, I’ll be sure to let you all know!

The Letters of the Devil II
The post-production process has finally picked up speed!  At the current rate, I should be done by the end of the month!  Huzzah!

​As a note, completion of these pages does NOT mean that the book will be ready right away.  I’m still going to be setting up the file, writing up an introduction and a “Making Of” section, working things out with the printer, etc. etc.  But completion of these pages will mean that the story is done.  Everything else is just the behind-the-scenes sausage-making you don’t really want to see.  And it also means that it’s almost time for …

The Legacy of L  Kickstarter
I’m finally pulling the trigger on this!  Barring any last-minute crises, the campaign will start on February 1, 2020 and run until March 1, 2020!  Rewards will include PDF, paperback, and Special Edition copies of the book, as well as options to get copies of the first book in case you missed out on it!  This time, I will be asking for a total of $2,000, which is double the goal for the campaign for the first book!  I’ll be sure to notify you all when the campaign is live and milestones are hit.

And now, time for the big news.

The Letters of the Devil II
So I’m going to start with the bad news, get it out of the way.  I had originally wanted the book to be completely done on 12/15 (you know, TODAY).  Unfortunately, that has not been possible, what with going home for the holidays, dealing with some technical issues, and other problems you probably don’t wanna hear about.  So I have pushed the deadline back again.


I will be shooting to finish by 12/31.  I REALLY want this book to be done this year, but to be honest … this is a tall order.  I may have to push the deadline into the New Year.

That said, I do have good news.

When I released the first book, I included a teaser for the sequel, stating that it was coming in 2019.  That’s why I’ve been so eager to get this book completed this year; I made that promise, and I want to keep it, at least in some form.  So, I have made an important decision: I am going to post the Prologue online.

Starting tomorrow, 12/16, my $3+ Patrons will start receiving pages on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, and these pages will become available to the general public a week later on my Patreon and on my website .  At this rate, it will take just over 5 weeks for all the pages to post, at which point I should be prepared enough to announce the Kickstarter.

Livestreams

As you can see from the plethora of links in the Recently Released section, I have finally gotten a chance to edit and post some of my old livestreams!  I do intend to get better about posting the replays.  Issues with Letters caused unavoidable delays, but things are in better shape now.

I am recovering from a case of con crud (yes, again), but I hope to do my next livestream this Saturday and Sunday starting at 7:00 PM EDT.  This one will be a little special, as I will be doing two strips at the same time to show off a new workflow I’m trying with CosPain .

The Letters of the Devil II ​
As per usual, things are running a bit slow with Letters, in large part due to the aforementioned con crud.  That said, I’ve completed about ¼ of the grayscale pages, and I’m scanning and prepping the files as I go, which will cut down on the post-production time dramatically.

Inktober 2019

So against my better judgment (considering my current workload), I am doing Inktober this year.  Well, kind of.  I’m following the  official prompt list , anyway.  But I’m not working in ink; instead, I’m working with graphite wash.

I’ve been having a ball with it, but I’m going to have to wait to show them to you.  Graphite wash is extremely messy and can leave loose graphite particles all over the page, which makes scanning them a dangerous proposition.  I’m also considering using these pages for a book and am a little hesitant to share them prematurely.  If I can find a way to do it, however, I will post images for you.  They look fantastic, if I do say so myself.

The Letters of the Devil II
It’s taken much longer than I’d hoped, but the inks for The Letters of the Devil II are finally done!  This is a huge milestone, and I want to thank you all for your patience.

Now that the inks are out of the way, we have a new projected timeline!
This timeline is still somewhat ambitious, as shading 238 pages by 11/15 may be too daunting a task.  I believe it is doable, however, and I am excited that this timeline still has the project finishing before the end of the year.

I have also begun making plans for the Kickstarter.  As things currently stand, I’m hoping to run it during the month of November, when the project will be in its final stages.  I’ll send out more details when things have been more finalized.

The replays for my live draw of CosPain strip #110 have unfortunately not gone up yet.  Due to the issues with Letters (detailed below), I have not had time to edit them.  As soon as I have a moment to breathe, they will be compiled and posted.

Unfortunately, the inking deadline has passed, and I still have work to do.  I can’t be helped; the inks have simply taken longer than I had hoped, by a wide margin.

That said, I am not shifting the deadlines yet.  I hope to finish the inks shortly, and when I do, I’ll see where things stand.  I appreciate your support on this project, and I still hope to get this book finished before the end of the year.

What’s Been Happening

The last few weeks have been absolutely incredible.  I have stayed in seven different states, driven over 2,000 miles, and flown twice.  I had two weekend-long conventions, my aunts’ wedding, and a family reunion.  It’s been nuts, to say the least.

As much fun as I had with the whole experience, the highlight had to be  Otakon.   This was far and away the best tabling experience I’ve had to date.  I went from barely making back the table fee on the 3rd day last year to surpassing it handily partway through the 2nd day.  It broke every record I’ve set for a con.  I had incredible interactions with customers, with other tablers, with staff … it was just the complete package.  I absolutely plan on attending again next year.

Unfortunately, these events have put me behind schedule.  I detailed this in my last update, but in case you missed it, I have included the revised schedule below.  
The Letters of the Devil II ​ To put it simply, I have pushed Inking and Penciling back a month.  Since I am also going to be working on assembly as I go, I have reduced the Post-Production working window to 15 days.

This also means that the final date of completion is unchanged.  I still intend to finish the book by 12/1/2019, or at least to give it my best effort.  I really want to finish this book before the end of the year, and I won’t throw that towel in until I absolutely have to.

I hate pushing back deadlines, but I’d rather give you all a good product late than a subpar one on time.  Thank you all for your support, for holding me accountable, and for just being awesome.

New LETTERS Schedule

Greetings and salutations!

This is not a full newsletter.  I’m currently out of town and do a more comprehensive post when I get back.  I do, however, have one big announcement that couldn’t wait.

As anyone keeping up with my posts will know, the deadline for completing the inks for The Letters of the Devil II is 8/1.  I have been concerned that I would miss that deadline, but I have been unwilling to push things back.  There was already buffer time built into the schedule, and I figured it would be better to miss by a few days and adjust the schedule once I knew what the damage would actually be.

Unfortunately, life caught up with me the last few weeks.  In a good way, thankfully, but my work did get significantly held up.  As a result, I find myself having to release an updated schedule.
