Good-Bye iBooks, B&N, and Kobo: Hello KU!

Good-Bye iBooks, Barnes & Noble, and Kobo Luminata released in June wide, meaning available on my website, Amazon, iBooks, Barnes & Noble, and Kobo. Because of that, it wasn't allowed into Kindle Unlimited (KU).

Amazon requires a book to be 100% exclusive in order to be part of KU. So, after much deliberation I have decided to put Luminata into KU starting on Tuesday, December 4th. What does that mean for you? If you read on iBooks, B&N, or Kobo, you only have a few days left to snag a copy! After Tuesday, December 4th Luminata will only be available through Amazon. So grab your copy now!! Sailing on the Jolly Roger

"The captain is requesting you to arrive at the dock at 5 pm tomorrow instead of 6 pm." Wait? What?

Needless to say, I totally forgot to put something in my Google calendar and if it's not on my calendar, it doesn't exist. (Anyone else like that?) Back in August my best friends bought tickets for my husband and I to go on a cruise. The reminder email had me scrambling to make sure I could get out of work early enough to make it to the dock on time. Thankfully we made it happen. My co-workers were almost as excited as I was for the trip.
Only 3 people on the gangplank at a time Picture Lady Washington © Grays Harbor Historical Seaport We weren't sure what to expect, and I completely geeked out! We boarded Lady Washington, a full-scale replica of a late 18th century trading ship. If you're like me, she looks familiar. You guessed it. She was the Jolly Roger on 'Once Upon A Time'. I pictured Captain Killian 'Hook' Jones standing on the deck and sailing the seven seas. (I mean, who wouldn't want to picture Colin O'Donoghue standing next to  you?)

My husband was 'Shanghaied' into being part of the crew. He was part of the crew raising the main mast sail. Following the very specific orders of raising the mast sail with a halyard. (It's a whole language I know very little about.) He was enamored and smiled the whole cruise. Hopefully he won't be conscripted.

Unfortunately it was a calm wind evening, so we didn't use the sails as much as we wished we did. But, it was still to sing shanty's, learn nautical terms, and listen to the creaks and groans a ship makes when wind catches a sail.

I would definitely do this again, I kept thinking I should write a story based on a tall ship. I'd love to be out on the ocean with wind on our backs and hear the snap of the sails. And, there's a battle they do as well... that may have to happen in the future.

I'm very grateful they sent me a reminder email. Want to board a ship yourself? Grays Harbor Historical Seaport is an educational non-profit organization based in Aberdeen, Washington, but they travel on the Washington, Oregon, and California coasts. Their goal is to preserve maritime history and traditions for people of all ages, and they travel up and down the west coast sharing information about tall ships. You can go on a cruise or even join the crew for a short period of time to learn how to sail a tall ship like the Lady Washington. I highly recommend checking them out on their website www.historicalseaport.org for more information and to get tickets.

Picture Today, I am hosting Olivia Wildenstein on my website for the YA Scavenger Hunt!

Olivia is an USA TODAY Bestselling author. She grew up in New York City where she attended a French lycée before heading to Brown University. When she’s not writing, she’s psychoanalyzing everyone she meets (Yes. Everyone), eavesdropping on conversations to gather material for her next book, baking up a storm (that she actually eats), going to the gym (because she eats), and attempting not to be late at her children’s school (like she is 4 out of 5 mornings, on good weeks).

Find out more information by checking out Olivia's website here! http://oliviawildenstein.com/ Picture The Vampire Diaries with faeries. Welcome to Rowan...

Founded two centuries ago by a powerful tribe of Gottwa Indians, Rowan was a quiet town, so quiet that I fled after graduation. Staying away was the plan, but Mom died suddenly.

Dad said she suffered a stroke after she dug up one of the ancient graves in our backyard, which happens to be the town cemetery.

Creepy, I know. Creepier still, there was no corpse inside the old coffin, only fresh rose petals.

As we made preparations for Mom’s burial, new people began arriving in Rowan, unnervingly handsome and odd people.

I begged them to leave, but they stayed, because their enemies--my ancestors--were beginning to awaken.

Fans of Kresley Cole and Stephenie Meyer will adore Wildenstein's new Faerie-tale series. #element-a4153650-ae91-4da6-aac5-98bbc5e9ffed .content-color-box-wrapper { padding: 20px; border-radius: 0px; background-color: #ff13ff; border-style: None; border-color: #555555; border-width: 3px;}Go to Amazon for your copy!Exclusive Content just for YA Hunters from Oliva!Check out the playlist Olivia wrote Rose Petal Graves to. Character Cast:Can you guess who's who? YA Scavenger Hunt

The Hunt Starts October 2, 2018! I'm excited to be part of the YASH coming up in October!

The YA Scavenger Hunt begins October 2nd and ends on the 7th. Never joined the hunt before? It’s easy. You can start on my website or on the YA Scavenger Hunt website the day of the hunt and then you hop from blog to blog completing one team at a time adding up secret numbers as you go. When you’ve finished one entire team, you enter the total of all the numbers you found for that team on the rafflecopter on the YASH website to try for the grand prize which is one book from every author on that team. You can stop there or try for every team on the hunt. There are loads of giveaways since most authors do their own as well so mark your calendars. The hunt begins soon!

Be sure to follow #YASH on social media and be part of the hunt.

I'm on TEAM PINK so I'll start the hunt on Tuesday, October 2nd and you can jump right in from my blog and move from here.

Loving Your Library

E-Books and Audio at Your Local Library Picture Have you heard about Libby yet? Libby is an app by OverDrive that connects you with your library!

With Libby you can read e-books and even listen to audio books. All for FREE! It's super simple to use. Just download the app onto your phone, pick your library, and enter your library card number. That's it! In a few minutes your connected and you can immediately begin borrowing books. Request a book at your library Did you know that you can request a library carry a book? If the book is distributed wide, meaning they aren't exclusive on Amazon, then it's likely the book is available through OverDrive and can be purchased by a library to have in their collection. It's easy, just ask! I know Luminata is available through OverDrive, so I'm asking my local library to carry it so people can read it at no cost to the reader. It's a Win/Win for everyone.

I'm currently listening to Carve the Mark by Veronica Roth. It's my very first audio book and I have to admit it took me a few minutes to get used to it, but I'm totally diggin' it now.

I'd love to hear your experiences using Libby or another similar app for renting books from the library. Here's the link to find out more about Libby:  https://meet.libbyapp.com/

Talk to you soon, Yvonne

She Shacks

A She-sheier She Shack Thanks a lot State Farm for putting the term 'She Shack' into my consciousness. I'd never heard it called that before, but now that I know about it, I'm hooked. Granted, I may call it my writer's retreat, but She Shacks are definitely all the rage right now.

I've been searching for ideas and I have to admit, I'm a little all over the place trying to decide what I want to do. The hardest part is that I'm pretty handy and I can see my husband, our best friends, and I creating whatever we out our minds to.  Styling It's a blank canvas right now. I could go totally normal and create a modern shed to write in that would be pretty and functional. I can get a pre-fab shed and adjust it to meet my needs. While the simplicity of this idea appeals to me, I keep gravitating to a shack that is more unique. More elaborate. More MAGICAL!

In a perfect world my She Shack would be something out of one of the stories I love to read.

Maybe a castle? I'll be the book nerd in the turret, my reading nook, floating away to distant lands.

Or what about the witches cottage in the woods? I could create a fairy tale tiny home complete with flower garden filled with herbs for potions.

What about the house from Practical Magic? Midnight Margaritas!!!

Oh wait, I'm limited by the size of my backyard. LOL (Reign it in, Yvonne!)

But really, the possibilities are endless and I'd love to have a retreat from the world I could read and write in that is inspiring and I can call a place all my own. So, maybe I can talk my husband into building a mini-castle in the backyard. ;-)

Check out my Pinterest board with the fun ideas I've saved. Let me know which ones are your favorites. Picture Click on the image for She Shack ideas on Pinterest May Magical Adventures Find You!
