ANIMALS AND MUSIC
by Kaye George
Since I’m a musician and have written
a Musical Mystery, I’d like to talk about the ties between animals and music.
First, some famous popular ones. Have
you seen Walt Disney’s Fantasia? Do you remember the hippos in tutus, dancing
to Dance of the Hours? The goldfish swimming along with Arabian Dance? Or the
dinosaurs battling through The Rite of Spring? Those are the

Bed-Bugged -- Excerpt from Susan J. Kroupa's Mystery
by Susan J. Kroupa
Some dogs work for their humans out of
love and a desire to serve. Not Doodle, the labradoodle narrator of the
Doodlebugged books. His motto? Do the work. Get paid. Nothing more, nothing
less. Of course, things don't always work
out the way he plans, especially when he's around Molly, his new boss's
ten-year-old daughter.

Cat Detectives, Part 2
by Toni LoTempio
A few months ago, I wrote a blog listing some of my
favorite cat detectives. Here are a few
more you might enjoy.

Midnight Louie series, by Carole Nelson Douglas
Louie is a twenty pound, jet black tomcat
with all of his – um- assets intact (well for the most part. He has had a vasectomy – yeah, you heard me
right) Louie is the first furpurrson of mystery, or

When Animals Speak
By Waverly
Fitzgerald (aka Waverly Curtis)
I was
delighted to be invited to be on a panel of animal-themed mysteries at Left
Coast Crime. Our moderator, Mary Lee Woods of Sparkle Abbey, sent the panelists
a list of proposed questions, including one asking each of the panelists to
name our favorite books featuring animal characters. I was surprised when I
made my list of favorites and

In Memoriam: Our Companions in War

Animals who do not make wars but live, and die, in them just the same.
Goodby, Old Man by Fortunino Matania
My grandmother was a poet. Squarely in the sentimental Victorian tradition, her poems were published in Scottish and Canadian newspapers and small-press collections in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. I have several fat notebooks

Horse Crazy Kid = Horse Crazy Author
by J.A. Campbell
I’ve always been something of a dreamer, a ‘what if’ sort of gal, if you will. What if I had a horse so smart I could talk to it? What if I could travel to other worlds and have adventures? What if I could actually write a novel and sell it? That last one, I think is the most fantastical of them all.
However, being a dreamer, the impossibility of those above ideas never

Animals, Novels and Me by Linda O. Johnston
Anyone who
reads my novels lately may see a theme in many of them. I’m currently writing cozy mysteries, paranormal
romances and romantic suspense novels--three fun but different genres. What’s similar about them? Well, mine all contain some degree of romance
and suspense. But the first two--cozy
mysteries and paranormal romances? They
all involve animals!
