The Strange Death of Europe: Immigration, Identity, Islam by Douglas Murray: Book Review

The Strange Death of Europeis the internationally bestselling account of a continent and culture caught in the act of suicide. Douglas Murray takes a step back and explores the deeper issues behind the continent’s possible demise, from an atmosphere of mass terror attacks and a global refugee crisis to the steady erosion of our freedoms. He addresses the disappointing failure of multiculturalism, Angela Merkel’s U-turn on migration, and the Western fixation on guilt. Murray travels to Berlin,...

Star Wars IX: The Rise of Skywalker – I’m Glad It’s Over

I had a busy Christmas period so this review is a little late. I watched the film yesterday so Ive had a little while to mull over what I saw here are some thoughts.

Firstly, The Rise of Skywalker isnt terrible. In fact, I would go so far as to say that I enjoyed it. There were moments that were truly emotional and I felt so close to the events that were taking place. The death of Leia hit me hard. If felt like a tribute to Carrie Fisher and it was moving and beautiful. It didnt make sense...

I Need to Read More Non-Fiction

This is the time of year where everyone and their nan has a list of things they want to change about themselves in the new year. Whether you are cutting out meat or booze, exercising more, watching less TV, etc, etc, this seems to be the time of year when these things begin.

Leaving aside my own feelings towards changing an aspect of your life just because of the time of year, I quite like the action of improving your life in some way that you feel is personally important.

I was asked last...

The Madness of Crowds: Gender, Race and Identity by Douglas Murray: Book Review

In his devastating new bookThe Madness of Crowds, Douglas Murray examines the twenty-first century’s most divisive issues: sexuality, gender, technology and race. He reveals the astonishing new culture wars playing out in our workplaces, universities, schools and homes in the names of social justice, identity politics and intersectionality.

We are living through a postmodern era in which the grand narratives of religion and political ideology have collapsed. In their place have emerged a...

I Journaled for 30 Days – Here's What Happened

Unlike a few people I have seen try this challenge of journaling every day for a month, I had never tried writing in a diary or anything before. Journaling was a totally new experience for me and the process of writing morning pages every day was quite strange.

After the first week, I wrote a blog post about my experiences so you can read that HERE.

Journaling for a Week – What I Have Learnt

I found it quite easy in the first week to sit down every morning and write three pages of...

The Memory Palace Technique | How I Hacked My Brain

It was when Derren Brown memorized the A-Z map book or the bus timetables (ironically, I can’t remember) on one of his live shows that I instantly knew I wanted to try it.

I scoured the internet with terms like, “how to do that Derren Brown trick” and eventually, after digging myself out of a few dark places, found memory athletes. These are people who can memorize the random order of a deck of cards, a lot of numbers in a row, and other stuff that isn’t useful but I found fascinating.

Crisis on Infinite Earths #1 | Supergirl S05E09: TV Review

My Rating: 4/5

SPOILERS… LOTS OF SPOILERS

This was the first episode in this year’s crossover event and it was pretty good! Firstly, I would like to say I loved the little hints at other universes like with the Titans and an old Robin at the beginning – also we saw Wil Wheaton for a scene which was fun. I am glad they didn’t milk that too much and focused on the story for most of the episode.

Let’s talk about Oliver. I am sure that there are a lot of people who believe he is not really dead....

Why You Should Own Fewer Clothes | Minimalism #2

When beginning minimalism, many people start in their wardrobes and drawers. It makes sense. Many of us have over 4 pairs of shoes but only wear one or two regularly. The number of dresses, shirts, trousers, and jumpers we own compared the amount we actually wear more than once a year is huge.

So, the first step to minimalism is decluttering (as I stated in my A Beginner’s Guide to Minimalism post). But why is this important?

Spend More Time on the Important Things

I own several t-shirts...

The Mandalorian Gets Better and Better: Episodes 3-5 Review

Before I start this post, I agree with the rest of the world: The Mandalorian should have been called The Baby Yoda Show. That little thing is adorable. Okay, that segment’s over.

The first two episodes of The Mandalorian did an incredible job of setting the show up. We were introduced to the Mandalorians, and we understand enough of how they live and operate to appreciate the plotline. We know about bounty hunters, recent history, and the settings to follow the show without having too many...
