My top books of 2017
I've been reviewing the books I've read over the last year and wanted to share a few of my favorite reads.
The Way of Shadows (Night Angel, #1)
Although I've had this on my radar forever and it was recommend to me by multiple friends, I finally got round to actually reading it in 2017.
WOW! was I impressed. I couldn't get enough of Durzo and his world. It's fast paced, full of intrigue, assassins, sub-plots, twists, a great story and realistic characters. I subsequently read the 2nd and 3rd parts as I wanted.. needed more. I've now started on the Lightbringer series. If your looking for that next "good read", check it out.
The Liberation (The Alchemy Wars #3)
The final part of the Alchemy Wars trilogy. I loved this series, following the exploits of Jax, the main character. He's a mechanical being, known as a clakker, created from a retro Dutch society using alchemy. Great concept with a theme of breaking the chains of slavery. Alternative world history filled with mechanical slaves. Brilliant read, great writing. A real page turner. Ian Tregillis has his "Milkweed Triptych" novels, which I'm keen to read too. and his website is pretty cool.
I'm always looking for recommendations. What books have you read this year that you've loved and why?
And what books are you looking forward to in 2018.
I'm keen to start Artemis by Andy Weir and being a HUGE David Gemmell fan, White Knight, Black Swan... After I finish Oathbringer, of course.
