Poem #495

[image error]crisp silver moon behind thin clouds
muggy sea air is between cold and warm
the world is not alive now
4:40 am is too early
for even the magic of early morning
but two people are awake
from the same house

Poem #494

I come home from working
and he greets me by the door
a meow in his throat
and he wants his meal
I come out of the shower
and he wants out of the bathroom
a paw on my face
and he gets attention

Poem #493

[image error]on Europa:
take a high speed elevator
up to one of six viewing stations
gaze through thick clear plastic
up at the Jupiter gases
turn around and feel the chill
of the universe and faraway Sun

Poem #468

bookworm girl sits
in her black and white room
behind sheer white curtains
shielded only slightly
from the evil of the world
by that curtain, those words
she experiences triumph and failure
but never lives it
living vicariously through characters

Poem #467

he teetered on the edge
talking to the speckled bird
and paying his bills on time
constantly on the cusp of insanity
but never quite there
he wondered if he should be worried
about his tenuous grasp on normal
but his life passed as if a roly-poly toy
perhaps all sanity clings dubiously

Poem #465

crybaby
I’ll hold you
while you cry
I’ll rock you
in my arms
I’ll wrap you
with the blankets
crybaby
