Son of a violinist and a soldier from a noble neapolitan family, he became orphan in 1943; in 1944 he was forced to became a worker for the nazis. During this year he became friend with a libertarian worker who introduced him to anarchism and tought him to sabotage nazis' costructions and armaments

After the war he begun to study medicine but left university for economic reasons. He lived a spartan and frenetic life: he often used to sleep in the ship of a fisherman. He frequently traveled to United States, Canada, South America and Africa writing poems and travel notes during his trips.

In 1961 he became blind for a damaged pipe on a boat during one of his numerous trips.

Despite his blindness he continued to travel and had a bohemian life. I
