Quarantine Relief
Like many people, I had a rough start to quarantine. I was not at all as mentally prepared as I thought I'd be. Worse, I had pneumonia just before the COVID crisis hit, so I'd already been home for 2 weeks.
One of the things that kept me sane was writing little TAROT SEQUENCE mini-scenes. They are now canon -- Rune and Brand are struggling through a Coronavirus outbreak just like the mortal world.
If you're on Twitter, and you're interested, feel free to check it out. I post about 1 mini-scene per weekday; and it occupies the period of time between HANGED MAN and TAROT #3.

THE SUNKEN MALL
Hey, all.
If you have any interest in reading a free TAROT SEQUENCE novella featuring a standalone adventure that happens between the events of LAST SUN and HANGED MAN.... Well, I've finally gotten off my arse and made an effort to finish "THE SUNKEN MALL."
The first few chapters were posted before all the wonderful hullabaloo that surrounded the launch of HANGED MAN. I've been pecking away at the story, and the end approaches.
I'll be posting the entire novella as a MOBI and PDF in a Google Drive, free for all to access. I hope you like it. It contains a more lighthearted adventured, with some deeper character moments, and a bunch of Rune and Brand head-butting. It's a nice way of me saying goodbye to these characters -- in a public way -- before I sink into the writing of TAROT 3.
It should be up by Sunday, or early next week. I'll post the link here when it's done.

Feb 12, 2020 in LA?
Hey all. I'll be in LA next week!! Nothing wide-scale planned, but I did set aside a couple hours on Wednesday to meet with local readers.
Are you free on Feb 12, Weds, from 2pm-4pm? Are you near the Beverly Hilton? I'll be commandeering a table somewhere and talking about....things. Maybe sharing the first scene of TAROT 3? Giving away some secrets?

There are some creative contests; a really fun "court" game; raffles.... Many cool prizes including a beautiful tarot deck, Kathy's gorgeous artwork, copies of LAST SUN.... As well as free, early copies of HANGED MAN when they're available (paperback AND Audible download), deleted TAROT SEQUENCE scenes, and copies of LAST SUN that I've personally defaced with comments in the margin, including a couple hints on major secrets. Oh! And character naming! You could name some new, major characters.

Edwards (Pyr, 2018), a queer Tarot-inspired fantasy in which the only remaining heir of The Sun Court must find Lady Judgement’s missing son somewhere on New Atlantis, the island city where Atlanteans moved after ordinary humans destroyed their original home, for TV development. Kim Yau of Paradigm on behalf of Sara Megibow of kt literary.

News!
Happy Friday, world. I've got some percolating news.
#1. This isn't percolating. It's done..... I will gleefully publish my entire novella, THE SUNKEN MALL, as a single MOBI when I'm finally done with it.
But... if you're interested... and you knew the link to the Google Drive folder... one might find Chapter 4.

Guest Blogpost
Hey there!
The fine people at A NEW LOOK ON BOOKS just published a guest blog post I'd written several weeks back. I've been anxious to share it with people, because it addresses a topic very important to me.

Basically, it's a quick summary on the major lessons I learned from reading reader reviews. LIKE YOURS. That experience has been.... Not even sure which adjective to use. Humbling? Exhilarating? Sobering? Ecstatic? It's been the experience of a lifetime.
And because of that reader feedback, I realized I needed to make some SERIOUS changes to my novel outlines, especially with regards to diversity representation.
Anyway, I wanted to share this, since a lot of you have called me out about these issues! And I heard you, loud and clear -- and HANGED MAN is so, so, so much the better for it.

Tarot Novelette becomes Tarot Novella, and More
I mostly announce updates via Twitter, but I'm trying to do better at....er...centralizing? Branching out? Either way, I have a new website under development, and here's my second Goodreads post!!
I've been writing a free TAROT story this summer. Just posted the third chapter, and I expect at least two more super-sized chapters this month or early September. I've been storing them on a public Google Drive folder:

The link is also announced on my Twitter page with each new chapter. It's morphed from a novelette to a novella....I'm thinking it'll clock in at 80 pages, when all is said and done.
And you may have heard that the pub date for HANGED MAN was pushed from September to December. It broke my heart, but it's a smart decision. We're just finishing the final proofs right now; so by delaying a few months I'll be able to do all the normal things writers do, like try to get reviews and cover blurbs in advance of the publication date.
And, that said, I think the extra time was worth it. I've plotted my entire series in "trilogy" installments, which means HANGED MAN is a middle child. Middle child syndrome is real in writing, as in life.... But I think I overcame this sophmore curse. I am insanely happy with the way it turned out. And it leaves things in the perfect position for so many future storylines, including a blockbuster NOVEL #3.
Which I suppose is my third piece of news. I've started writing TAROT #3! No more 18 months between novels. I'm committed to turning this one around much faster. If I have my way, I'll be finishing the manuscript right about the time that HANGED MAN is published.
Okay. That's it. As you were. I feel like I'm talking to myself.... Blogging is so strange. I'm always in awe at the reviewers and bloggers who do it well.

Free Tarot Novelette!
There's a first time for everything. Here's my inaugural blog post, for those of you who don't follow me on Twitter (where I post most of my social media updates).
HANGED MAN comes out in September. In anticipation of it, I'm writing a free Tarot Novelette called THE SUNKEN MALL in weekly serial form this summer. Chapters 1 and 2 are out; and there are (at least) 3 chapters to go.
