Semi-finalist For a Book Award!

Sail Cowabunga! has been named one of 17 semi-finalists in the Chanticleer 2018 Journey Book Award for Narrative Non-fiction. The final first place and grand prize winners will be announced April 27, 2019 at Chanticleer’s Gala Awards Dinner in Bellingham, Washington. Sail Cowabunga! won out in several elimination phases over the past year, from the first Slush Pile out of hundreds of entries progressing to a Long List, Short List, and finally the Semi-Finalists.

Chanticleer International Book Awards is looking for the best books featuring true stories about adventures, life events, unique experiences, travel, personal journeys, global enlightenment, and more. We will put books about true and inspiring stories to the test and choose the best among them.

Sonoma West Newspaper Features ‘Sail Cowabunga!’s’ Homecoming

In somewhat of a homecoming, former Sonoma West reporter (in the 1990s), Janis Couvreux is featured in this week’s October 31, 2018 edition of the same newspaper on the occasion of her upcoming Sail Cowabunga! book launch event November 11, 2018 at the Occidental Center for the Arts. After sailing into Bodega Bay, Sonoma County, and first resettling in Occidental in 1990, the story of Sail Cowabunga! culminated here several years later, as the family settled into a new life.

The Sunrise Rotary chapter of Santa Rosa warmly welcomed Janis, Thursday, Aug. 2, 2018, as she recounted the story of Sail Cowabunga! to an internationally focused audience of travelers, sailors, and exchange student program staffers and organizers. This was the second of several scheduled Rotary appearances for Sail Cowabunga!
