The Top 15 Types of Australian Football Fan

With another season over and a new one on the horizon, it was time to celebrate the similar traits of the top 15 winning types of Australian Football Fan. How many do you recognise? Which one are you? So, during the last Grand Final (to protect the innocent and not-so-innocent) no places, teams, or names are mentioned. But the questions asked were: What makes them a football fan? What type of fan would they consider themselves? And, how do they see other fan-types? I’m sure you’ll recognise the many that follow – no matter what type of football code you enjoy in your part of the world. But first a Read more

The Humbling Might of the Football Fan

Today, I thought I’d cover the basics of the iconic game that infiltrates many hearts and homes every football season… But first a word of caution: *Disclaimer: No humans or animals were injured during this experiment. This experiment wasn’t conducted in a proper environment for scientific purposes because this isn’t an experiment! No one was coerced into this conversation for their opinions – that somehow ended up being this fortnight’s conversation (and side venture into procrastination) for this blog. Still with me? Well, here we go then… What is Aussie Rules Football? (simplified) AFL stands for Australian Football League, or Aussies Rules, AKA Footy. Invented in the 1850s as a Read more

The Curse of the Creative Crafter

Did you ever look at a project and ask yourself—Why did I do it? What crafter’s curse was I under to carve out another horrendous DIY disaster? Which somehow, became the cause and creation of a conversation (and side venture into procrastination) for this blog post. So, buckle-up, babe, this is all about the hustle for the handmade… That First Call to Craft? In the times of sword-wielding menaces on horseback, specialists were created out of pure necessity for their village. It was considered the birth of trade and the first masters of craft. (Tweet this) Yet, the art of craft could go back further with the simplistic nature of cave Read more

Is There A Nickname For Life?

Have you ever noticed how nicknames become a part of relationships in life? She inhaled deeply, basking in his manly aroma. His large palms cocooned her hands. Staring deep into his eyes where the world around them no longer registered. He leaned in closer and whispered the words, ‘my little blood-puddin!’ ‘Huh?’ She blinked at him as if flushing out an eyelash. His fingertip stroked her cheek, sharing a dreamy grin, he sighed. ‘You’re my little blood-puddin.’ Stepping back with her back straight, her eyes narrowed at him. ‘Fine. Peanut.’ His frown faltered. ‘But, I’m allergic to peanuts.’ ‘Like I’m a vegetarian—babe!’ (90 words) The above piece of Flash Fiction,

Do you Dream to be a Bride in Bali?

The wave’s slow curl spills across the white sands carrying the calm cooling breeze ashore. Long palm fronds dance with the sun fanning the breeze. While, poolside, seated beside a table laden of bright tropical fruits and fresh coffee, the sun slowly climbs over the horizon exposing tiny islands dotting the glassy sea. Slumping deeper into the comfy chair, your shoulders relax from the massaging thumbs while your nails are expertly manicured. It’s all part of being pampered for the day ahead. It’s kind of like the pre-honeymoon before the honeymoon enjoying yourself as a Bride in Bali. That has, somehow, ended up being this fortnight’s conversation (and side venture Read more

Shower Song

led by a gargling pod of caterwauling tone-deaf dolphins, followed by a chorale of water-sprouting sea-hags. It’s the end of the world and the end of hearing anything pleasurable as we know it … Thus is the danger of singing in the shower at dawn! We all know it’s the world of the closeted rock-star. It’s the operatic sound-booth testing beyond the sonic boom-box boundaries. That is until soap sings a new sting and opera heightens into a glass-shattering moment that awakens the suburb. So, what creates this memorable moment of lifetime performances of an under-stressed songster? Is it the ambience of running water, a shower curtain, and a new Read more

I’m Fine

Conor Maynard said, “I don’t get it when girls say ‘I’m fine’ but don’t mean it…” Sorry, still getting over the boy bands session a few blogs back, but the above quote is right, how often have women said those iconic words: “I’m Fine!” Why? Why do we say we’re fine when we don’t mean it? Or are you one of the rare ones who doesn’t say it, even if you say you don’t say it, or you do say it but won’t admit to saying it? Are you as confused as me?   Okay, so, back to why do we say, “I’m fine?” Is it because we don’t Read more
