Besides the books listed here, L.N. Hunter’s work has appeared in Short Édition’s Short Circuit and, most recently, the Horrifying Tales of Wonder podcast, among other places - you can find a complete-ish list of publications on my Linktree. There have also been papers in the IEEE Transactions on Neural Networks, which are probably somewhat less relevant and definitely less fun.

When not writing, L.N. unwinds in a disorganised home in Carlisle, UK, along with two cats and a soulmate.

Fun collection of unusual mysteries for kids

Four quite different to each other puzzle stories, all easy to read. I especially liked the playfulness of the final story, 'Keyholes,' but found 'Freakish Knight' a bit dull. The surprises and dangers are

An entertaining and twisty quick read

Escape Island has plenty of action and a few nicely done 'set pieces' (I particularly liked the octopus scene). There are several great plot twists, particularly as the story reaches its breathless climax.

Manic space humour throughout

A headlong dash from start to finish, the book's full of snarky humour and wonderfully pulpy sci-fi.

My favourite bits were the many arguments between Alex and the robot, Toshiro, especially when the latter engages full-on

A fine collection of haunting stories

Ethereal is a good term for this anthology, as practically every story has a dreamlike tone. Not every one is full of terror and dread, but they all have surprises. I think my favourite is the pleasantly gruesome

This put me in mind of some of T. Kingfisher's work: nicely written and easy to read. Lovely twisty, turny tale of people choosing what seems best in the moment, only to realise there are serious consequences. My one criticism is that it did take a w ...more
