Day 2,003: Till Next Time, Maui

Till next time, Maui. I’ll miss you.

Truly, one of the magical places in the world. I’m sitting here in bed, finally my own bed after a 19-hour travel day, and I can still feel the trade winds breezing through our studio condo at night. I can still smell the air.

I’ll miss you.

For now, however, I’m going to snuggle my dogs, who are pressed up against me tight, and sleep for a thousand years.

It was a loooong travel day today, and we got up super early. But, we made it home. And in good spiri...

Day 2,002: Maui

The ocean is crashing outside our condo right now.

I went outside and sat in the dark in my undies, listening to the waves. It’s such an incredible thing about this place to be able to go outside and feel the breeze, listen to the ocean, and feel so warm and cozy. The weather is that pleasantly perfect. Even in the breeze, right next to the ocean. It’s magic. I’ve never experienced anything like it.

We’re going home tomorrow.

We spent the day today at the beach. This time we tried Ka’anapali,...

Day 2,001: A Rest Odyssey

Liz and I did a whole lot of nothing today. We stayed in, let our (admittedly minor) sun burns heal, and then went out for Ululani and an amazing dinner at Merriman’s.

Sunset tonight (pictured) was incredible; a Merriman’s staple.

Tired now. Sleeeeep

Day 2,000: Glorious

I’m a bit sunburned. It’s finally happened: I actually got a sunburn in Maui.

It’s on the tops of my hands…which is so annoying, because I don’t think I’ve EVER had a sunburn on the tops of my hands. How did that even happen??? I slathered myself all over the rest of my body WITH MY HANDS.

My face got a little pink, too, and my eyes are irritated right now…but it was worth it. Today was magic. The water was so warm. I boogie boarded. I floating. I lounged in the shade…it was amazing.

I’m also...

Day 1,999: Party Like It’s…

Today is the last blog entry I’ll write in the 1,000s. That’s CRAZY.

I don’t really have anything profound to say about that, except that I’m really, really happy to be crossing into the 2,000s here in Maui.

We had quite the good time today. We woke up and had breakfast here at the condo, then we drove down to the far other side of the island to eat at Mama’s Fish House, a meal that’s become a staple.

We just did apps and desserts this time on a recommendation from Stephen, and holy crap it w...

Day 1,998: Cronch

Woke up nice and late. I was WIPED last night from all the hiking.

We went to breakfast at this tiny place in the middle of this super old resort called Gazebo and had their macadamia nut pancakes

Day 1,997: The Adventure Day

Liz and I woke up “late” for Pacific Time, but early here in Maui. We made ourselves breakfast, and then went down and explored the area. Not a ton within walking distance, unfortunately, but apparently some amazing beaches just a few minutes by car. We had some early lunch, too.

Then we hung out in the condo; Liz took a nap and I read the Maui guidebook that our air bnb had stashed by my bedside.

That was awesome, actually, because it gave us the idea to go up to Haleakalā and hike around. A...

Day 1,996: The Travel Day

Liz and I are back in Maui.

It’s my third time. First time was to get married here, and that was when I fell in love with this place. Absolutely blown away. Second time was to renew our vows last year and celebrate Liz’s birthday.

This time…we’re just here for relaxation.

Last year when we came, we spent some dinero. We stayed at arguably the nicest resort on the island the whole time, and did chi-chi things like traditional couples massage.

This time, we’re keeping the purse strings tighter....

Day 1,995: The Finish Day

Holy balls was today a long day.

I finished a looooot of stuff today. We’re going to Maui tomorrow, and I had a bunch of stuff that needed to be done before we left.

First, it was Netflix work. And that started out from behind because I’d been given the wrong timecodes for something. But I finished that and everything else I needed to, and got the thumbs up from my coordinator that we were in good shape for when I come back. I also got notice that they’ve extended me for another couple months...

Day 1,994: Long Days

This one has to be quick. I’m late for bed time…

Work was busy today. Nearly finished with the second book write-up in my Story Grid certification…”diagnostic” I think is what it’s called, actually.

Helped out with a surprise project for most of my day at the Flix. That stalled me for a bit on my regular work, but it seems as though I’m far ahead on that, so it’s okaaay
