Dr. Robert William Chapman, usually known in print as R.W. Chapman, was a scholar, book collector, and editor of the works of Samuel Johnson and Jane Austen. In 1903, while a student at Oriel College (Oxford University), he won the Gaisford Prize for Greek prose. He spent the bulk of his career at Clarendon Press, and participated in the production of the Oxford English Dictionary.
