Dear Friends,

Thank you so much for your support in my first six books in the Serve Series! There is nothing like good readership to keep the heart & soul alive of an author. It's hard to know whether a book will be well-received, but in all honestly, we can't worry about that. We write what we're called to write, and so far, this has been a wonderful experience.

The latest in the Serve Series, Glorious Christmas, updates our four main characters Joan, Annie, Helen, and Bernice and sends them in directions that one might not have anticipated! Father Bertrand and Monsignor Kuchesky come back more fully into the story, showing more of the compassion of the holy men of the 1940s as well as their humor and generosity. Glorious Christmas brings ou

My current reading goal is a collection of 5 PG Wodehouse books, simply called "5 Complete Novels." He has such a genius for humor and making you laugh, whether you want to or not. I find him completely wonderful and totally recommend his books, particularly those involving Jeeves, the manservant. (less)

You can journey through time, other countries, other cultures, and there's no limits on what can happen while you're there. Of course, it's sad when the story comes to an end and you have to say goodbye to the "friends" you've made along the way. I think that might be why so many of us like to create series--you can hang onto the characters you've created.(less)

Making the Grade Just Out

Making the Grade by Cece Whittaker Had the medical personnel around her seen what Bernice saw, they would have ceased their frenzied ministrations and fallen to their knees. No longer feeling the bone grinding pain in her leg, or the blistering heat of the fever, Bernice was held in the arms of her angel as a sweet current of refreshment brought restoration to her body, filling her spirit with joy.

Bernice is one of four close Read more of this blog post »

Yes, Ma'am. I'm a bassist. I started when I was about 15. My mom drove me and my equipment to rehearsals.
Today, I play with a pretty good quartet called "The Atlanta SoundKeepers", or TASK for short. All of us sing, so our forte is vocal harmony. Yo See Kim’s answer.

“Father Bertrand stood at the window, gazing out through the sea oats at the wild ocean in the distance. There was such peace in something as big and powerful, as independent and majestic as the ocean. U-boats could travel through it and do their dirty work, but they, too, were at the mercy of the hapless wrath of such a body should God decide it was time to speak directly. Some people felt there were still enemy patrols out there, and maybe there were. But there was also Coast Guard, Navy Patrol, and our own variety of covert water travel, he thought. There was no sense in wondering why man had a persistent desire for dominance. It was clear that man would carry on until at that final call, when God would say, “Enough!” And no more.”
Cece Whittaker, Glorious Christmas

“From a safe distance, the man sat watching, thinking what a bunch of fools! Is this how Americans live? Walking around blindly, bumbling into each other and falling down all the time? But he hadn’t noticed what the Professor had noticed or he wouldn’t have been thinking in such arrogant terms. Before the Professor righted himself, he had caught sight of a partially concealed, but plainly present M1942 Sosso Pistol, an Italian made handgun.”
Cece Whittaker, Glorious Christmas

“She could hear his words ringing in her ears like an air raid siren. “Father’s asked me to accompany a sick soldier home. I would leave tomorrow but be back by Christmas.” Who was this Airman Ralph Jacobs? And why now? Why Dick, for heaven’s sakes? The man was shot down in Italy. Wasn’t that Sly and Bobby’s territory? Wasn’t it Harry’s? Maybe that’s what Annie had heard. So instead of using Sly, they dumped the duty onto Dick.”
Cece Whittaker, Glorious Christmas
