Fun 5 - 'The King' by Rick Soper
Today Rick Soper is answering my Fun 5 questions on his novella 'The King'.
The King
Fun 5 Q&A:
What do you want your readers to get out of your book?
Nobody is safe, no matter how rich, so watch what you do to anyone and everyone you know.
If you could make up your own Genre for this book what would it be?
TragiThriller… Basically a thriller with very tragic elements.
How bad is your bad guy, on a scale of mildly fiendish to brutally evil?
Mistakenly vicious with horrifying results.
Which musician could sing the soundtrack to your main characters life?
Morrissey… who else could put tragedy and irony together with an edge of biting sarcasm.
What is the most important thing to your main character?
To Jon Stevens the only thing that matters is justice… not matter what the cost.

Fun 5 - 'The Beholder' by Ivan Amberlake
Today Ivan Amberlake is answering my Fun 5 questions on his book 'The Beholder'.
The Beholder
What message lies at the heart of your story?
The main idea behind the book is that one can achieve anything in life if he or she has faith in their own abilities. As one of my characters said, “The only thing that holds you back is your certainty that your abilities are limited. You need to break that belief.”
Is there a song that perfectly describes a moment in the book?
Breaking Benjamin – Anthem of the Angels (End of Chapter 37 – the end of the final battle between the forces of Light and Darkness)
EXCERPT from Chapter 37:
“The first ray of sun pushed through the massive clouds which still dominated the sky, painting their edges a vivid crimson. The dawn of a new day. Jason clenched his teeth against the pain and stared at the sun without blinking. More rays pierced the pall of darkness like gigantic swords, letting the light gush from the dark clouds’ wounds and warm the streets of New York. The buildings, which had been little more than huge tombstones only moments before, transformed back into their proper form.
Then he saw them: small dots in the sky, coming closer. Curious, Jason entered Sight and stared at the scene before him. About a hundred of the dots soared into the sky, except in Sight the dots were revealed to be beautiful auras, radiating triumph, and Jason knew they were the Lightsighted, all of them heading in the direction of E&L building.
But their joy was too painful to bear. Jason turned away and went out of Sight. He couldn’t celebrate, only mourn. Emily was dead. William was dead. Didn’t they know? His vision blurred behind a wash of tears."
Which paranormal/fantasy creatures inhabit this book?
There are people called Sighted who are able to see Energy threads ruling the world we live in. The Sighted can control these threads and change reality around them They are divided into Lightsighted and Darksighted, the former creating positive energy while the latter trying to destroy it by instilling negative feeling in common people and feeding off their fear and other feelings.
Are any of your characters inspired by someone you know?
One of my main characters is partly based on my wife, which makes writing about this character really enjoyable.
Who is the most important person to your main character?
Jason is my main character. He’s got best friends—Matt and Debbie—who are always there for him. Then there appears a mysterious Emily Ethan who enchants Jason so much he fears losing her.

Fun 5 - 'Predator's Kiss' by Rosanna Leo
Today Rosanna Leo is answering my Fun 5 questions on her book 'Predator's Kiss'.
Predator's Kiss
In ten words or less, what is your book about?
Bear shifter meets human erotica author. Mates? Hell, no!
Which paranormal/fantasy creatures inhabit this book?
Predator’s Kiss is set in the fictional community of Gemini Island, Ontario. Our hero Ryland is a bear shifter who has built a resort and fishing lodge there, and uses it as a haven for shifter families. A shifter vacation spot. As a result, the resort is peopled by all sorts of shape shifters, although bears are the main focus in this book.
Tell us five things your main character loves?
The great outdoors. Fishing. Shifting into his bear form. Being among shifter friends. Oh, and good lovin’ with a jar of sticky honey!
What is the one thing your main character would never do?
Ryland would never back down from a fight, especially if he knows a loved one’s safety or reputation is at stake. He would give his life rather than see his love Lia hurt.
If you could have any of the traits/powers of one of your characters for the day which would you take and why?
Shifters have some interesting traits: superior strength, stamina and keen ursine senses. If I could take on one of Ryland’s powers for the day, I’d want his sense of smell. I think it might be interesting to experience a heightened sense of smell. Think of how much better all those good fragrances would smell…and how much worse the bad ones would be. Oh, can I change my choice?

Fun 5 - 'Desires: A Legacy Novel' by R. Rose
Today R. Rose is answering my Fun 5 questions on her book 'Desires: A Legacy Novel'.
Desires
Fun 5 Q&A:
In ten words or less, what is your book about?
Passion, Betrayal, Magic…Otherworldly retribution that may destroy the Mortal Realm.
Which paranormal/fantasy creatures inhabit this book?
There is the Celtic God Dagda; his daughter, the Goddess Brighid; Morrigan, the Goddess of Killing Rage and Uncontrollable Lust; and the war fury, Badhe (Bav). There are also the Sidhe (Shee), the people of the mounds. But these are not the fairies we think about today, these are the magical Otherworlders know by the ancient mortals.
If you could have any of the traits/powers of one of your characters for the day which would you take and why?
I would like to have Eléan’s powers of healing, elemental magic, and communication with animals. I am a vet tech and a wildlife rehabilitator, think of how awesome my job would be if I had those powers.
What is your main character’s biggest flaw?
Eléan’s biggest flaw, if you could call it that, would be how naive she is in the beginning. It isn’t her fault; she was protected from the outside world by her entire clan, so she had never experienced anything or anyone evil. When she does lose her innocence, she has James and Liam to help her fight the evil that seeks to control her.
What’s next for your characters?
The next book in the series is titled “Malevolence (A Legacy Novel)” and I think that readers are going to be surprised with the characters that return in the second book. I can’t give you any more than that at this time. Everything about “Malevolence” is going to be kept fairly secret right up until the book is ready for the readers’ shelves. Currently, there is so much speculation on what will happen next that I am having a hard time keeping my own mouth shut. When I finish a really good chapter, I find it hard not to blog about it. Well, hopefully we will ALL only have to wait a couple more months to find out what happens next.
