Duplo and Imagination

I love Duplo because they foster so much creativity and imagination.

T made this adorable stage and a full blown story where the little figurines have a school program, complete with parents taking pictures. While not evident, some blocks are steps to the stage which is why there is no fourth pillar!

I also loved how she explained it in details to me. Not only is it sweet and a cherished moment, it also is a great chance to practice vocabulary and conversations.

Pro tip from fellow mom: use these to guage what points interest your child. Use it for positive reinforcement and for storytelling. You’ll never run out of ideas!

Lego Duplo Fun & Imagineering

This week’s post is all about Lego Duplo creations.  T had her fifth birthday last week, so she got to pick out a present. Of course, she chose Lego Duplo: the Family Fun Fair.

Her choice stemmed from simple reasons:

She LOVES Legos
The box was huge
It had four figurines to play and make believe with

Naturally, we got building and here are some of the inspirations in the box and our own creations.

 Double Decker carousel:

  Single Fair carousel:

A boat and chair themed carousel T made for single and group riders:

Flower themed standing carousel like the rides T has been on:

Now this roundabout like in T’s playground. She made the girls and boys alternate standing and sitting in the roundabout like the big kids in her play area do:

I find these realistic make believe games useful because they tell me what all T has observed!
