One More Month!
Happy Friday, Aledan Merfolk! I know the title of the post says One More Month, but it’s actually LESS THAN A MONTH until See The Depths releases!!
The final draft is currently with the copyeditor going through line edits, and I’m looking for ARC readers to post some early reviews and build some excitement. If you’re interested in becoming an ARC reviewer (that’s Advanced Reader Copy), you can fill out this form.
Not sure you can commit to becoming an early reviewer? I’ll have preorders for the print book the next week! (You can already preorder the ebook direct from me or on several of your favorite retailers)
I’ll also be signing books at the Mermaid Festival in Aberdeen, WA the weekend of April 5th & 6th! We had so much fun last year launching Speak The Ocean at the Mermaid Festival, and this year’s launch of See The Depths should be even better! Join us for the festivities!
I hope you’re ready to See The Depths! Have a wonderful weekend, everyone!

Goodbye 2024, Hello 2025!

Happy Monday, Aledan Merfolk! The year is almost over and I, for one, am happy to help usher it out the door. We lost several family members this year, including our old man, Boudin, and it was a challenging year on the whole.
But the year wasn’t all bad. This is the year that I officially became a self-published author! And you know what? For as much as I never wanted to self-publish, I’ve found it very rewarding. It’s been a lot of work (and money), but it’s also been so satisfying to know that I did all that work and got my book into people’s hands, and overall they’re enjoying it. I’m sitting at 4.6 stars on Amazon, with 137 reviews! I had about 50 reviews and 4.7 stars from the original publication, so getting that many reviews and still keeping the high rating is pretty damn good.
Overall this year, I’ve sold over 500 books, which I’m pretty proud of! I sold 617 copies of the original version of StO between 2019-2022, so nearing that in less than a year on my own makes me so excited! You can find copies all over Whidbey Island (the Book Rack is my home store and carries it for a dollar less than anywhere else), in Anacortes and Bellingham, and even in Key West! And with book two coming out in April, and book three in the works now, I’m excited about the rest of this series
If you haven’t heard about the rest of the series yet, I announced See The Depths in October (you can preorder the ebook direct from me right now, or wait for a signed paperback in April). Publication date is April 4th, and I’ll be at the International Mermaid Museum for their annual Mermaid Festival that weekend to sign books! The festival is so much fun, and I hope you can join us to officially launch See The Depths that weekend!
I’m also drafting Book Three in the series right now, and I think you’re going to really like it. I can’t tell you much, because I don’t want to spoil the ending of Book Two, but I can tell you that things get very dangerous for the Seadom. I plan to have that drafted by the time Book Two comes out, and then I’m heading back to Fie Eoin!! Karigan has been screaming at me to finally write her story, and I can’t wait! If you’ve been around since back in the FE days, you are going to LOVE Kari. Take Kindra, give her a big helping of self-confidence, some really, REALLY cool twin-bond powers, and a snarky mouth, and you have Karigan. She’s my favorite character to write!
If you want to read StO2 and StO3 before they’re published, I post a chapter every week on my Ream subscription. And if you’re looking for a cheap ebook of StO, it’s currently 50% off at Smashwords through January 1st!

I hope you had a great holiday season, Aledan Merfolk! I’m excited for what the next year will bring, book-wise

See The Depths Cover Reveal! (and preorder links!)
Happy Friday, Aledan Merfolk! And Happy Birthday to me (and Juliana! And Mike! Who both have new books out!)
We are exactly six months out from the publication date of SEE THE DEPTHS, book two in the Speak The Ocean series! So I come bearing gifts: namely, the new cover, which is so gorgeous I literally cried when I saw it. I knew I wanted the second book to have the same general look as the first, but I couldn’t decide between a purple or red background. I thought purple would probably go better with the general cool-tones of the other colors (the third book will be lighter blue), but this book is bloody, so I thought the red could really pop. And it did, but it didn’t fit what I was going for. And neither did the purple. Bummer.
But my awesome cover artist, Cait Greer, knew just the thing to do! And I’m pretty sure it’s going to be my favorite of the three (sorry, Books One and Three).
But first, how about a description. If you haven’t read Speak The Ocean, SPOILERS for the end of the book!
***
Finnegan Jarvis should be dead right now – drowned at the hands of the most vicious mermaid the landfolk have ever seen. He would be, if his girlfriend hadn’t transformed him into a merfolk like herself. Now he’s a superpredator, seeing the depths of the ocean, and exploring the Seadom with Erie by his side. So why can’t he stop thinking about the surface?
Being a mythical creature isn’t as magical as he first imagined. When Erie takes him hunting, the fish scream. When she tries to get physical, the alienness of his own body makes him pull away. And when the King finds out Finn’s life has come at the price of Princess Clair’s, Finn becomes a target not only of the King’s wrath, but of nearly the entire Seadom.
Then the boats begin hunting Mer again. Finn realizes he has a choice to make: stay with Erie as a powerless Mer forever, or make the painful transformation back to human and stop them, losing her in the process.

Isn’t it gorgeous? I love how the magenta at the top bleeds into the dark indigo of the deep ocean at the bottom. Cait really knocked it out of the park, and I can’t wait to have a print version on my shelf next to the first book!
If you want your own print copy, you’ll have to wait a bit for preorders, because they aren’t ready yet. But I’ll have signed copies on my website like always, complete with bookmarks and stickers!
If you want an e-book copy, you can preorder them from all of your favorite bookstores, as well as direct from me!
And if you don’t have your copy of Speak The Ocean yet, you can also get those directly from me in both e-book and print. You can find the links to all formats here: https://rebeccaenzor.com/books/

Ream, Smashwords, and Kobo Plus
Happy Friday, Merfolk! I have a few updates for you on this gorgeous Friday, so let’s get to it!
First, I’m hard at work drafting StO2: See The Depths! If you’ve finished StO, you probably have some idea of what that means. And if you’re excited to get a sneak peek at book two, head on over to Ream, where you can read the first chapter now, and subscribe to read the rest as I write it! As of today, we’re up to Chapter 12, and have even had a couple chapters from Jen’s POV
Second, Speak The Ocean is on sale 50% at Smashwords for the entire month of July, as part of their annual Summer/Winter sale! That’s only $2.49 for an entire book about murderous mermaids and sexy times with the worlds most basic bitch, Finn Jarvis
(my favorite one star review called Finn a basic bitch, and you know what? I love it)
Third, if you’re a Kobo Plus subscriber looking for your next great scifi or fantasy read, I have 200+ suggestions! I’ve teamed up with a group of other indie authors to cross promote our books. I’ve already seen a couple of really promising mermaid reads in the stack: check out Finding Their Mermaid by Cali Mann or The Mer King by Cecily Ann Winters! The promo goes until mid-August, so be sure to check the link as many times as you need to for that tbr!
Have a great weekend, Merfolk!

Signed Books Are Here!
Happy Independent Bookstore Day, Aledan Merfolk! I have great news, because the books I ordered to sell as signed copies finally arrived, which makes me an official Indie Bookstore (of one book) today!
If you’ve been waiting for your chance to buy a signed copy of StO, you can grab it HERE. Don’t forget to put which color pen you’d like me to sign with in the Notes section! Each purchase also comes with a free bookmark and sticker as well ^_^
Don’t need a signed copy, but want to buy direct from me? You can do that here! (Unsigned copies print straight from BookVault and do not come with stickers or bookmarks)

StO2 Posting Has Begun!
Happy Friday, Aledan Merfolk!
A mockup of See The Depths cover. This is NOT the official cover art! It’s been a couple weeks since Speak The Ocean was published, and now that folks have had a chance to read the first book, it’s time to start posting See The Depths over on my Ream! (like Patreon specifically for authors) The first chapter is going to be free, but every chapter after that will be for subscribers only.
If you haven’t finished reading Speak The Ocean yet, please don’t read the first chapter of See The Depths! It starts immediately after StO and contains MASSIVE spoilers!
Also, while StO was a fully edited novel, See The Depths is still a working draft. Which means it won’t be quite up to the same level of awesomeness that StO is, but it also means that suggestions are highly welcome. If something feels off, please let me know. If a section needs more description, note it (I usually do a pass just for description later in the editing process, because I’m a dialogue gal). If you hate a new character’s name, or see a note like “FISH NAME”, please suggest a new one! I hate coming up with names
I’m going to try to keep a schedule of one chapter a week on Fridays. I’ve written ahead a bit, so I think this will be doable. And as before, if you subscribe at the Merfolk or Pod level, you’ll get a free copy of the ebook or print book when it’s available!
Have a great weekend, and I hope you enjoy See The Depths
P.S. if you’re waiting for signed print books, they should be ready next week! They’ve printed, I’m just waiting for them to ship

Speak The Ocean’s Re-Debut Day!

Happy Tuesday, Merfolk! Today is the day Speak The Ocean is back on shelves as a self-published indie novel! You can find it as an ebook or print book in your favorite stores*, buy an unsigned copy direct from me, or ask your local library to carry it! And if you want a signed copy, I’ll have those once I return from the Mermaid Festival in Aberdeen, WA this weekend!
It’s been a long, wild ride, from getting an agent and publisher, to getting my rights reverted back to me, to deciding to put it back out myself. I read A LOT of information about self-publishing, and asked a lot of questions, because I wanted to do it right. (And then I still screwed up formatting in multiple ways, but I fixed it all! Self-publishing is not for the faint of heart)
All said, I’m really proud of the work I’ve put into this book. I’m grateful for everyone who took a chance on it back in 2019, and I’m grateful to everyone who is excited to read it now!
I’m also so thankful that I have a chance to use my murderous mermaids to show people that forcing captive orcas and dolphins to perform for audiences is wrong. Only five days ago, Inouk passed away after 25 years of captivity in France. Last year, Tokitae, who was caught only a few miles from my current home, died after 53 years of captivity in Miami. Her mother still swims free in the waters surrounding my home. Since the original publication of StO five years ago, sixteen orcas have died in captivity, many of them forced to perform for over ten years. At least 56 orcas still remain in captivity worldwide, including 18 at Sea World parks in the United States.
So while today is a celebration, it’s also a reminder that there’s still work to be done. Grab a copy of Speak the Ocean, and then learn more about Whale and Dolphin Conservation, and what you can do to help!

Last but not least, come back on Friday for a sneak peek of StO2: See The Depths! But only if you’ve finished reading the first book, because there are massive spoilers
*There’s a third-party version of StO showing on Amazon for a ridiculous price. Please don’t buy that overpriced book! The print price is $17.99, and anyone who charges more than that is not affiliated with me!

Speak The Ocean Cover Reveal! (and preorder links!)
Happy Tuesday Merfolk! We are exactly three weeks out from the relaunch of Speak The Ocean, and I have been super busy in the background getting everything ready for publication and the Aberdeen Mermaid Festival. For instance, look at this amazing website makeover! I loved the purrmaid and bright colors that used to be the focus of the website, but the book is a bit dark, and I wanted a theme to match. Plus, the zoom in on the book cover background is full of bubbles, which play a big part in one of the darkest scenes of the book.
Speaking of the book cover…would you like to see it? I am blown away by how much the gold on dark teal pops, and the paperback even has a pop of magenta with those jellyfish! I worked with amazing cover designer Cait Greer, who guided me through the process since this is the first time I’ve had to get a cover made myself (and it’s a lot more than just “decided what colors you want”). If you’re looking for a graphic designer, I cannot recommend Cait highly enough!
Full Speak The Ocean cover art by Cait Greer [image error]Full Speak The Ocean cover art by Cait Greer [image error]Full Speak The Ocean cover art by Cait Greer Isn’t it gorgeous? I love the claw-like font and the voice-stealing sea shells <3 (for those of you not completely obsessed with The Little Mermaid, those big shells are the same as the necklace Ursula wears, that she keeps Ariel’s stolen voice in) And the jellyfish! We tried to get them on the front cover, but it just wasn’t working out, so when Cait recommended adding them to the back I was so excited. And they turned out great
Can’t wait to get your hands on your own copy? You can pre-order the ebook edition RIGHT NOW! Follow the universal book link to all your favorite shops, including Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Apple Books, Google Books, Smashwords, Kobo, and others!
Want the paperback instead? I should have the proof copies in a couple of days and can approve them on all retailers. I’ll let you know as soon as they’re ready. If you don’t want to miss the announcement, please sign up for my newsletter or follow me on Ream!
Have a great week, Merfolk, and I hope to see you in Aberdeen on the 6th and 7th!
