SONORA PASS BOOK VIRAL REVIEW !

Please Check it out  …

Our review……

An intriguing debut graphic novel, Sonora Pass proves a genuine gem with author Jaime Olmos and illustrator Kevin Nichols pulling out all the stops to deliver a corker of a story. Boasting an eclectic cast of characters and a ton of intrigue the art seems effortless with each chapter unfolding in a straight forward artistically uncluttered style that’s easy to follow. And though there is lots of dialogue none of it feels belaboured with Nicholls succinctly matching expressions, movements and gestures to Olmos’ words, but does it work as a murder mystery? The short answer is yes, and a compelling one to boot with Olmos ensuring it doesn’t become over simplified. The plot is nicely nuanced with no infuriating loose threads, the dialogue is sharp, the humour well pitched and between them, Olmos and Nichols do well to capture the progression of their characters. From emotions, to physical reactions they not only solicit an emotive response, readers don’t have to use their imagination to immerse themselves in a scene. They simply have to absorb the images and words to be part of an extraordinary novel.

Wholly original and an utterly entertaining read, Sonora Pass is, by any definition, an accomplished debut and a must read for fans of the genre. It is recommended without reservation.

Inflationary Universe

This is more Anecdotal than a rigorous scientific review.

Technical but FUN read …

I occasionally  saw Dr. Guth at MIT in Grad school ( I was still an undergrad).

I nevertheless knew relatively well his colleague Dr. Henry Tye who went  on to become a String Theorist at Cornell.

I am (like many others) uncomfortable about hyper-inflation (whether it is economic or cosmic :-)).

With cosmic hyperinflation space expands (but it is a void expansion????) at speeds much greater than the speed of light.

Could this be a dark energy/ dark matter phenomenon ?

You heard it here first folks !

But yes, cosmic inflation explains the near “isotropy” of the Universe ….

Goodreads conversation on KIRKUS review

SONORA PASS KINDLE/AMAZON GRAPHIC NOVEL KIRKUS REVIEW

Here is a list of  items I regrettably have identified in the SONORA PASS KIRKUS review !

I will be very happy if I succeed at getting other Indie authors to question the benefit and hence avoid an unsavory experience while at the same time saving $450 .

ITEMS –

The KIRKUS review focused heavily on piddly trivial handwritten “typos” in a 20,000 word graphic novel.
The KIRKUS description/highlights of the story is terrible.

A high school senior could have done a better job. It is as if the reviewer wanted to make sure to prove that he did read the whole script. However, he read it so quickly that he did not understand or follow the plot very well.

More than likely it is the case that the reviewer had very little time to complete the job and so he focused on looking for “flaws”.

For example there is an illustrated banner that has “1974-1996” JABBERWOCKY reunion but elsewhere the banner shows as “1971-1996” JABBERWOCKY reunion.

Is this something important to review? This is the sort of review a grade school teacher would do on a kid’s paper …

(You may not believe this but I was aware of this irrelevant discrepancy, but had decided to keep it because I liked how KEVIN NICHOLS illustrated the number 1974 versus the actual real number 1971

Indie Authors Beware !

I recently had my graphic novel SONORA PASS reviewed by KIRKUS.

My honest and humble opinion is that the reviewer assigned by KIRKUS should stick to reviewing PHONE BOOKS !

Review
Stan Brock is a most remarkable man !

As a young man he became a cowboy in Guyana, not an easy thing to do for an English kid.

I loved reading about his life experiences in Guyana. As a cowboy he befriended the local “cowboy” Amerindians.

He decided to do something about the near complete lack of health care available to these Amazonian people. He wound up founding Remote Area Medical which today busily operates in the USA providing health care to people in need !

He is in addition a wild animal …more
