News about my next book...

A lot of readers have been asking me what’s next. Another book, of course!

I’m putting aside the STEM heroines for a while and starting a brand new contemporary romance series. Instead of centering on the heroines, this series will focus on celebrity heartthrobs and feature dual POV (which I suspect will make some of you very happy).

But don’t worry: the heroines will still be the smart, independent, relatable characters you've come to expect from me. The first book is about a sociology PhD can...

Looking back on the last year

Picture This was my birthday gift from Mr. Sus, in honor of becoming a published writer last year. I spent over 20 years writing and learning and working and honing my craft before I decided to pursue self-publishing. Discovering that I could carve out a place for myself in the marketplace and sink or swim on my own merits was tremendously freeing.

In the last year I’ve released three books, and right now all three are sitting in the top 20 of their category on Amazon, holding their own alongsi...

Breaking news: writing is hard

Picture WRITING IS HAPPENING.

And that calls for lots of caffeine. I’m almost through the first third of my WIP, and the characters are finally starting to feel like real people. It takes a while for their personalities to set whenever I start writing a new book.

To steal an analogy from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, they’re like cookie dough for the first few chapters. The ingredients are all there, but they’re still mushy and unformed. But somewhere along the way, I realize they’ve turned into co...

Meet Caleb in this exclusive excerpt from ADVANCED PHYSICAL CHEMISTRY

Picture Who's excited to meet Caleb, the hot barista hero of Advanced Physical Chemistry? This blog exclusive excerpt from Chapter 3 gives you a glimpse of Penny's dreamy love interest..and her jerk of an ex- boyfriend.
Penny continued swiping through Instagram filters without looking up at Kenneth. “I don’t have anything to say to you.”

He was close enough she could smell his Armani cologne. She should have known better than to date a man who wore cologne.

“Please, darling, let me explain.” He...

Picture PREORDER NOW I can't wait for everyone to read this book. I want to say it's my best one yet. Is that jinxing it? I hope not. It's definitely a little steamier than the last two, so if that's something that floats your boat, I think you're going to be pleased. After four lousy boyfri...
