How about an Obsessed excerpt?
This was Rain’s chance. Once the bride and groom were out of sight, he strolled over, trying not to look too thirsty.
“Hi.” Tilting his head, he looked up through his lashes, tucking a stray wisp of hair behind his ear. “Do you remember me? I’m Rain, Ollie’s friend.” He held out a hand in greeting.
Mason only stared, eyes flicking between Rain and his hand.
“I remember you.” The timbre of Mason’s voice rippled through Rain as did his touch, for when he finally grasped the outstretched hand in a large warm palm Rain had to bite his lip. Shaking it once, Mason quickly pulled away but there was heat and something else in his piercing gaze, something unrecognizable, and it piqued Rain’s curiosity.
“So, I work here now.” Gesturing around him, he turned his seductive smile on Mason, hoping to have a crumb of conversation, but Mason took a few steps back, hands on his camera.
“I have to take more pictures.” And then he was gone.
Rain blinked at the spot where Mason had been and then burst out into surprised laughter. Did Mason just run away? Why? Was he straight? Afraid of Rain? Afraid of liking Rain because he was straight? It didn’t matter because Rain clearly had an effect on him, which meant he’d won half the battle.

How about a Ravenous excerpt?
“Is vanilla an actual flavor or is it like…plain?” Finn rubbed his chin. He’d opted for the carrot cake and Ollie was beginning to see a pattern. First the carrot cake muffin at Vice and Virtue and now actual carrot cake?
“It’s a flavor. It’s vanilla. Oh my god, I can’t believe that I have to explain this to you when you ordered vegetables for dessert.”
“It’s carrot cake. Cake and icing, not just carrots. I thought you liked vegetables?”
“I do. But not for dessert.”
Finn laughed. “You have some strong opinions about sweets.”
“And you have some bad takes about ice cream.”
“Do I? Hear me out.” Finn’s eyes were full of mischief. “Chocolate is a flavor. So is rocky road. And pistachio. But vanilla is a base. The beginning. You need to add things like chocolate chips or caramel to it to make it an actual flavor.”
“It’s still a flavor though. Otherwise, it would be called plain. It’s called vanilla because it tastes like vanilla.” Why were they even debating this?
“It tastes like paper. No flavor, hence it is not a flavor.” Finn waggled his finger as if he were a scientist making a point and Ollie couldn’t help but smile.
“How do you know what paper tastes like?” Ollie asked as the waitress came back, putting their desserts in front of them and giving Finn a raised eyebrow before she left. “And just because you say it’s not a flavor doesn’t mean that you’re right.”
“I’m going to need to see a citation on that.” Finn winked, digging into his cake.
Ollie ignored his ice cream, typing on his phone. “Aha!” He turned the screen toward Finn, gesturing around it like he was presenting a prize on a game show. “It says right here that vanilla is the world’s most popular aroma and flavor.”
“You know you can’t trust everything you read on the internet.” Finn held out a little carrot cake on his fork. “Would you like to try some?”
“Of your vegetable cake? Nope, I’ll stick with my delicious flavor of ice cream,”

Leading Ollie by the hand, Finn brought them around the front of the car, and the picturesque landscape spread out before them. Glistening lamps lined the streets, reflecting the twinkling stars above, and store signs gave pops of color among the varying yellow squares of home windows, which fanned out in all directions. Ollie could even see The Pointe in the distance, lit in white, its spire looking over the rest of the town.
“This is beautiful,” Ollie breathed, realizing that his tears had dried. He was even sobering up but he was still dizzy and a little cold, so he leaned on the hood, trying to pull some of its warmth.
The driver’s side door opened and closed and suddenly Ollie had a slight weight on his shoulders, but it wasn’t oppressive; it smelled like piney old denim.
“Oh!” He looked down at Finn’s worn jean jacket, which had seen better days, but was another layer between him and the chill so he’d take it. “Thank you.”
“No problem! Would you like some coffee? I grabbed one from the convenience store before I picked you up. I haven’t drank from it yet so it’s brand new.” Finn held up a large cardboard cup and a paper bag. “But I could drink from it first because you barely know me and I just brought you out to the middle of nowhere.”
That was very kind but, for some reason, Ollie trusted Finn. “I think if you were going to murder me you wouldn’t do it while I’m wearing your jacket.”
“Of course! And I wouldn’t want to get this shirt dirty. It’s a classic.” He gestured at his concert T-shirt for a band Ollie had never heard of, but the art indicated that they had been famous sometime in the eighties. “Honestly? I can’t even kill spiders.” Finn shook himself. “I hate them but the little guys don’t deserve to be squished.”
Ollie bit his lip. Could this man be any cuter?

“I’ve waited this long, what’s a few more weeks.”
Owen tilted his head, giving Liam’s hand a squeeze. “What do you mean?”
Liam didn’t think he could blush more deeply but he was certainly trying. "W-Well, I um…” He looked down at the table, studying the remnants of his muffin. “I might've had a crush on you when I was in high school.”
"You had a crush on me? Me?" Owen asked, pointing a finger at his chest. The whole thing should've been awkward but Owen’s confusion kept it light.
“Don’t you have a mirror at your house?” Liam was already in for a penny he might as well go for the whole pound. “You think you’re some broken old man but you’re gorgeous. I have trouble looking directly at you. Plus, you’re nice and super competent, you’re basically the whole package. And your problems don’t make you less of a catch. Like you said yesterday, they make you human.” Liam slumped a little in his chair. “It’s more like I don’t understand how you could want me.”
“I can think of many reasons why I want you.” Owen gave him a sly grin full of promise. “Would you like me to list them?”
