putting it to the reader...
Copyeditor seems to have a problem with two secondary characters having similar names (apparently, no two people in the history of any world ever shared variations of "John" or "Thomas."). Considering they are in different countries, and hold different jobs, and interact with different people, I don't see any way there could be confusion between the two, and I chose names very specifically in this world to highlight the connectivity and mobility of the cultures.
But I'm willing to accept that s

Day Four, Operation Better Homes & Deadlines
Well, Blood from Stone has been Klausnered, so I guess it's in the pipeline. *braces self* Six books and seven years in, and wow, it's been a hell of a trip. Thankfully, Bonnie & Crew are letting me stay in that world while Wren & Sergei rest, and I know that there are still stories in the Retriever universe to be told, but... melancholy, baby. Melancholy. I think I may be writing more on this, as the book comes closer to release.

Day Three, Operation Better Homes & Deadlines
An Early Morning Cat Crazies start to the day -- thankfully, they started up at 5:45, so I could to ignore them for 15 minutes before my "I should get up anyway" voice kicked in. And then, at the dot of 8am, Boomer retreated to his hideyhole, even before the workmen arrived. Maybe he not quite so dumb as he looks (or he's dumber. tough to tell). Pandora, on the other hand, has reached the "eh, whatever" stage, and now sits on my desk and glares in the direction of All That Noise In Her Kitch

breaking financial news...
WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) -- The Treasury Department will order failed insurance giant American International Group Inc. to repay the taxpayers up to $165 million that the company American International Group Inc (AIG) is giving employees as bonuses, Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner said Tuesday. In a letter to congressional leaders, Geithner said the government can't block the payments, which are being made under contracts signed before the government stepped in with $173 billion to prevent AIG f

So. Herewith, the electrician, messing about in mysterious and noisy ways.
Herewith, the copyedit of Flesh & Fire on my desk.
Herewith, me instead on-line, talking about last night's "Castle," which has won my heart forevermore by having both cop and shadowing writer don protective smock and goggles when going in to meet with the ME -- who is NOT cutting open the body without a care or precaution.
In fact, the only thing that annoyed me about last night's episode was that they're letting Castle be

Day One, fini.
The workmen have left and, much to my surprise and amusement, it was Pandora who was out and about first. Boomer is still in his hideyhole, wide-eyed and nervous.
I've taken photos, but figure I'll wait until there are several stages to show, and then do a single cut-tagged post, so folk who aren't interested can click on by.
Meanwhile, proving that if it weren't for bad timing we'd have none at all, I got an e-mail from Mam'selle Editrix informing me that the copy-edit for Flesh & Fire is en rou

demolition underway
and my opinion of whoever put in the previous kitchen has been upheld by the guys doing the demo.
On the plus side, the crap installation makes for a reasonably easy demolition. If you discount that whole plumbing thing....

insert witty subject header here
Well, I was going to post my comments about last night's premiere of "Kings" here, but then I saw that
kateelliot had already gotten that started, so I'll just send you over there..
Meanwhile, I'm waiting for the workmen to show up (and also delivery of a) the floor tiles and b) the kitchen sink). The cats already know Something's Up and are being clingy/bitchy. It's going to be a long week...
So, should I do photoblogging of the renovation? Y/N?
EtA: also, LJ FTW in one respect, anyway:

Sunday at Starbucks
Yesterday I hiked the canyons of Manhattan (anyone who thinks I'm joking has never been to Manhattan), succumbing to some crass commercial lures and avoiding others. Came home. Collapsed in tired heap. Poked a little at work things, and then finally caught "Castle," which -- while thin -- amused me enough to keep me watching. Nathan is adorable, the cop is just the right mix of amused and annoyed to come across as a Real Actual Person rather than Spunky!Cop!Sidekick/Love interest! and his mo
