Better Homes & Deadlines: The Saga Continues
As usual, this is a Fool-Free Zone*. For today, anyway. You may return to your usual foolishness tomorrow.
Despite the chaos of flooring and cabinetry and oops sorta forgetting to eat an actual meal until 5pm, I managed to haul another 1500 new words down on Pack of Lies, and am through to the penultimate chapter. As seems to be forever the case, the closer I get to the ending, the more I understand what I needed to do in the beginning, so before I write the final chapter I will be going back

Better Homes & Deadlines, Day Whatever
I can has floor. Floor is very very pretty. But cabinetry was delivered before grout was dry, and so, in addition to various appliances in my office, all the cabinetry is now piled in my living room, just begging one or both of the cats to try and jump on it. Probably at 3am.
I need a drink, a nap, and a bloody steak. Alas, no rest (or drinking) for the deadline-crunched. Must. Finish. Chapter. 13!
Tomorrow, the cabinets will be installed. And then...

various and sundry are waiting for grout
Headache is staying a real but distant threat, and my muse came back from wherever he's been hiding and helped me figure out a twist the book needed. Another 1700 words today, yay. Oh, and Madame Agent loves crack story idea! But since it is option material, must wait until this book is done and handed in. *hates waiting* Tonight, I get to work on Mustang, finally. *rubs hands together* I am aiming for so over the top I'll need oxygen on this one, folks. :-D

Better Homes & Deadlines, Day Resumption
The doorbell rings. The flooring guys are here. Everything in the kitchen (fridge, dishwasher, range, etc) has to go out.
I am printing out manuscript and fleeing my office, since that's where most of that stuff now resides. Catch y'all on the flipside!

weekend update (downdate?)
Knowing that the week will, hopefully, bring the return of Better Homes & Deadlines, I had planned to do a hard push on the WiP this weekend.
48 hours + massive caffeine + Insomnia Cookies = 5,800 new words. It would have been more, but the weekend also brought with it the sinus headache that Will Not Die. Ugh. Still, I think good stuff was done, and I'm now one-and-a-half chapters away from (very) rough draft, alleluia.
It took us four bars and more beer than I was comfortable drinking that e

I just had a cracktastic idea for a book that literally made me hop up and down and say 'yes, oh yes!" in glee.
Now to run it past Madame Agent, and see if it's the good crack, or the bad crack.
Oh, how I hope it's good crack... (more to the point, I hope it's saleable crack...)

causin' trouble, throwdown-style
so, according to MediaBistro, JABberwocky claims it's "the #1 agency for fantasy and science-fiction authors."
hrmmmm.
I think we need a throwdown, myself. DMLA claims, hrm, Jay Lake, Elizabeth Bear, Patrica Bray, some guy named Jim Butcher, David Feintuch, Nalo Hopkins, Mary Robinette Kowal, Sharon Lee & Steve Miller, C.E. Murphy, Ken Scholes, Ekaterina Sedia, et moi....
Anyone got the current roster for Russ Galen? How about Writers' House?

Once again, I'm cracking the case (fictionally speaking) and thinking "y'know, I need to seed that earlier, so they can realize it without the reader going 'say wha?'" This is why I write in multiple drafts; because although I know the plot, I don't always know the story until I've told it. So then I go back and retell it better, for you.
