Happy Halloween and Title News!
It's a very overcast Halloween here in Oregon. If the sky lives up to its promise, the kids are gonna need a tumble dry by the time they get home tonight.
I'm hard at work on the revisions for my new book, which officially has a title! It's called Loose Cannon, a title that I'm actually really pleased with. (I am really bad at titles. Honestly, truly. I am not being modest for the internet). And this is the second book in a row where my editor has had to pass along the marketing department's n...

About that Newsletter Doodad
I had a ball making my recent newsletter. Well, okay, the process of figuring out what to include wasn't much fun, and MailChimp had a slightly steeper learning curve than I was expecting, but I had a really good time revisiting the characters from Bad Judgment. Checking in with Brogan and Embry was a spur of the moment thing, but it was the most enjoyable part of the whole newsletter process, so I think I'm going to keep doing it for future newsletters.
Since this past newsletter had a small b...

Want to Ask Nosy Questions?
I'm doing an author chat at Night Owl Reviews this upcoming Monday (that would be Oct 24, for those of you who care about that sort of thing). It'll be at 5pm Pacific Time, and there'll be three other authors, each taking about fifteen minutes. We'll be answering questions from readers, posting snippets from our books, and talking about current and upcoming projects. Then we'll give out some free swag. It's a chance to win free books and maybe even gift cards!
It takes roughly an hour. I've don...

Starting Fresh
One thing I've learned about being a writer is that you're never working on just one book. You've got one book you're doing marketing for because it's about to be released (or just has been), one book you're revising and annoying your editor about, and one book in the pre-planning stages. This is the sort of thing that many people would have no trouble juggling.
I am not one of those people. I am one of those people who won't eat something if it touched one of the other foods on her plate. I a...

RT Book Reviews and Draft Stuff
Romantic Times Book Reviews posted an excerpt from Bad Judgment today as part of their Hump Day Excerpt Series. And it's a steamy one, too!
They've also reviewed the book, but it isn't available yet unless you're a member of their VIP Salon.I've been told it's a good review, though, so I'm doing my happy dance anyway. ;D

20 Days! Also, tech is stupid.
Only 20 days until Bad Judgment comes out!
I'm starting to get that excited feeling that usually only shows up in kids when they get a couple weeks out from Christmas. That's probably to be expected. I mean, first book and all. But still, it's both nice and sort of terrifying.
I'm still posting tidbits of the book on FB on Saturdays. None of them are from the excerpt, so it's all new material. I don't think you have to have an account to read them, so go here if you're interested.
In completely...

Divine Magazine Author Spotlight FTW!
I've just completed a Q&A session with a lovely lady from Divine Magazine in the UK for their Author Spotlight series. (Turns out she really liked the book! Yay!). Divine Magazine is a LGBTQ-friendly mag that does a little bit of everything, but anyone who's reading this will probably be most interested in the fact that they have excellent book reviews. You can check out the website here, although the actual interview isn't available yet. That'll come out on Sept. 19 when Bad Judgment is relea...

Polling the Audience
I've been toying with some new content ideas for the website. Most of what I come up with sounds pretty cool to me, but anyone who's been reading this mess...ahem,blog, knows that I can be deeply uncool, so my opinion is perhaps not to be trusted. For that reason, I thought I'd get some feedback before I move forward.
One of the things I've been considering is playlists. I frequently write to music, and as I go through a book, some songs seems to show up again and again because they're particu...

Excerpt for Bad Judgment Posted!
You can read it on the website here or on Goodreads!
And since this post is pretty thin on content otherwise, I would like to point out that Justin Trudeau (the Prime Minister of Canada) looks an awful lot like one of his fellow Canadians,Patrick Sharp (a forward for the Dallas Stars hockey team). I would include pictures, but people can sue you for that sort of thing if you don't buy the licenses, and I'm pretty cheap. So you can either look them up for yourself or take my word for it.
(They ar...
