“[An Honest Day’s Work] grips you immediately…”

I don’t understand how Mr. Jones gets you so emotionally involved in his characters so quickly . . . [An Honest Day’s Work] grips you immediately, blasts your own moralistic sentiments, then leaves you haunted.

—Stanley McShane (Virginia Williams), Author of Cocos Island Treasure

Author Brent Jones Events in Niagara Region: Fall 2017

I’ll be participating in a number of author events throughout Niagara Region this fall.

I’ll be speaking at all but one of these events, answering questions, reading from Fender, and I’ll have paperback copies of both of my novels for sale.

Come out and say hello, get your book signed for free, and let’s take a photo together. Don’t forget to tag @AuthorBrentJ on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook.

Two of these are solo author events (just me) and two are multi-author events in which I’ll be p...

Hide a Book Day 2017 — Find Two Copies of “Fender” Around Niagara Region

Today is Monday, September 18, 2017, and that means it’s Hide a Book Day, a collaboration between Goodreads and The Book Fairies.

The Book Fairies are people around the world, sharing the joy of reading by leaving their books in public places to be found by the next reader. Often leaving a note inside, and with our sticker on the outside, the books are then found, read, and then hidden again.

And I am participating.

Last week I announced that I would be “hiding” two signed copies of my secon...

It is available at the moment for free on Smashwords, with other notable retailers—such as Amazon, Kobo, iBooks, and Barnes & Noble—coming soon. Check the books page for updates. There I will link to all major retailers who carry this short story for $0.

It can also be read o...

“The Matchbook” — A New Short Story Written by Brent Jones

I have just released the first of several short stories I’ll be publishing this fall. It’s called The Matchbook, and I’m excited to share it with you.

The Matchbook: A Short Story

Clocking in at just over 5,000 words, this short story is set in the fictional town of Wakefield, a recurring location in a number of the short stories I’m working on.

Here’s what The Matchbook is all about:

Synopsis

Corbyn Thurber, seventeen, meets the love of his life while passing through the small town of Wakefield—he just doesn’t know it...
