I hear them coming long before I see them, the rumbling roar of motorcycles echoing up the valley. American flags wave in the breeze as I turn my gaze towards the mountain, looking for the first bike to come down the road and into view in the sleepy little mountain town of Rainelle, WV.

Here I sit, frantically typing a short story that is running through my brain faster than a freight train, trying to keep it on track and get it finished in time for a deadline. This particular story is due by the end of this month, mere days away, and I have another that is due at the same time.

Why am I proud? Because this one has my wife’s debut story with Rac Press, “When the Hoot Owl Calls” in it! One of my big projects this year is for a new sci fi adventure titled “Mech Family Robinson”. There’s been several remakes of the classic tale and this is my shot at it. Of course, I’ve been trying to come up with artwork that would work well for the novel, but just didn’t hit the mark yet. Storms Roll In

Moving to WV from WI brought with it some changes in my understanding of the weather. In WI, when you see a line coming at you, you could predict it’s arrival and approximate strength to the minute.

WV, not so much.

The Radar showed some angry dark orange cells coming at us, what I showed you in the video. By the time it got here, the mountains tore it up and it was just barely yellow. Dark green mostly.
