No white Christmas for me…
It's official. We have some crazy weather going on around here. Last Saturday we had a blizzard (I've never seen a blizzard before, go figure) with heavy snow and high winds, Sunday it was sunny, but still cold, and Monday and Tuesday it was snowing again, only not with such force, creating a veritable idyllic wonderland.

We haven't had snow stick to the ground (or fall that copiously for that matter) in my town in years, so it had to me documented for future generations. [image error]
Then it all...

An advance on Christmas presents
It's common knowledge in my family that I like to buy my own gifts (birthday or Christmas or whatever the occasion). Sure, everybody knows that the best present for me is a book, but unfortunately they have no idea what I've already read, what is waiting to be read, what I would want to read, and what I wouldn't be caught dead reading.
The family members usually gives me bookstore gift certificates and tell me to enjoy myself.
And trust me, I do.
This year I started early on the whole...

The ultimate tearjerker book
I recently answered a poll on GoodReads whether I like it when books make me cry.
Some people cry watching a movie, some people cry while reading a book. Up until eight years ago a book could never make me cry. I read only thrillers then and let's face it, Victoria Holt just isn't crying material, and reading Barbara Cartland stories I just cried for laughing so hard.
Now, I do both. I cry at the movies, I cry reading books, not all of them, of course.

Full-time author?
I got an interesting question through the contact form on my website today.
"Are you a full-time author?"
Yeah, right. I'm a full-time slacker when it comes to writing, if you ask me. Just look at my writing opus. Three books – a novel, a novella and a short story (and that's a freebie).
Let me ask you a question. Do you think I would have only three books listed if I were a full-time author? The answer is no.
I have a full-time job that most days leaves me with a minor headache and bleary-eyes f...

JavaScript woes
Yep. WordPress is a wonderful platform…But sometimes even wonderful things let you down somehow. And in WPs case it's all bout JavaScript. Not that I need it much, but sometimes it comes handy.
I completely understand the WP policy fearing JS could be used in some harmful way, but they could at least offer some sort of alternative…Or something.
Okay, so you're probably wondering what this is all about. Well, I recently "enrolled" in another reading challenge on my favorite book-related website ...

Blood sacrifice
True story…When I was little, I was (almost) constantly sick. I was prone to tonsillitis, sick nary every single month. The doctors knew of that of course, yet they just couldn't refrain for sending me for blood tests every time my throat hurt.
Well, I got my tonsils removed on November 29, 1987, but that's another story.
Back to those blasted blood tests. No matter how skilled the people taking my blood were, they never were able to find the veins on my inner elbows. Don't ask me why, I have n...

Freebie madness
Today I received yet another package from a Biblio member/seller. I ordered two books by Julie Miller, yet the package seemed big for only two Harlequin sized paperback. Hmmm...
Imagine my surprise when I opened the envelope and four books fell out. Hey, wait a minute. I ordered two. I paid for two. Didn't I? I check my email confirmation and my credit card statement. Sure enough, I was billed for two books. So what the heck is going on?
An...

Real life sometimes tries to equal fiction
Anyway something happened very, very early yesterday morning (right after midnight, to be exact), that made me think. Yeah, I do think, too. Sometimes.
Anyway, back to yesterday early morning. I just finished watching Batman Begins and was merrily settling under the covers when someone starts ringing the bell like crazy and the sounds from the stairwell (I live in an apartme...

I'm alive…And I love my Sony Reader
It's been a long time, I know. But I'm still on the face of the Earth, still breathing on my own, don't have any health issues (not that I know of)…I've just been super busy in the last few months.
I can't wait for my vacation, that's for sure. Less than a month to go. Yay.
Speaking of vacations, and finally landing on the subject of this post…I'll be able to bring a brick-load of books with me, without any extra luggage.
Why?
Because I finally bout an ebook reader. And because I mostly read...
