Tip #6 - Writing Organizations

There are a number of very good writing organizations out there.

One of the best things you can do for yourself as a writer is to join one. They offer a wealth of information to new writers and you meet other people who have traveled down the road you are heading down.

I searched for over a year for the right group and join some that were not what I wanted, but in the end I found the group that helped me.

I can not stress enough how much this can help you, but if for some reason it isn't working for you. It's still important to connect with other writers - take class, go to online chat, join yahoo groups. We all need help along the road to success, find people who can make the road easiler.

Here are a few of the organizations out there.


• RWA – Romance Writers of America is one of the largest. It is a national organization with local groups throughout the country. You do not have to be a romance author to join.

• EPIC– Electronic Publishing Industry Coalition – is an online community of writers. They hold a conference once a year and offer a contest for e-book authors.

• Mystery Writers of America – a group of writers joining together to share ideas about writing mystery.

• Horror Writers Association – an organization of horror writers working to help each other become better writers and foster a better understanding of the genre.

Mike and I went with some friends this weekend golfing. The course was beautiful but the terrain was a little hilly.

There is also some wild life in several of the pictures but you have a hard time seeing the roadrunner and bunny very clearly.

#9 in My Book - Now What?

There are many ways to Promote yourself as a writer.

I believe the best way is to look for promotion everywhere.

Yahoo groups, ads, promotional items can all help and should be used, but don't miss an opportunity to sell your book at other venues too.

Church, clubs, the grocery store, the park, on an airplane, we meet people every day and most like to read.

Hand them a business card or talk to them about being a writer. You never know where you next reader might come from.

Working on a Different Genre

I'm working right now on writing a young adult book.

Why?

Because it's different and I like to try my hand at different things.

The story is about a young orphan girl, who discovers that she has more magically power than she wants.

Why? Because people are after her, they want to draw her into their world and have her help them.

Okay so it's all about me.

She on the run, but luckily has a few friends helping her.

But where does the road end?

I don't know I'm still writing.

Diet Dilemmas

The experts say if you eat less calories than you exert you’ll lose weight.

Then why is it on the days I work out the most I don’t lose more.
