Comme Maurice Wilson, Ruth Hanson est née et a grandi à Bradford. Depuis 1991, elle a voyagé de nombreuses fois au Népal, mais aussi au Tibet, au Sikkim et au Bhoutan. Elle travaille dans un cabinet juridique et vit avec son compagnon dans le Yorkshire du Nord. Ruth Hanson entendit parler pour la première fois de Maurice Wilson pendant des vacances en Écosse, un jour de l’an. Plus elle en apprenait sur cet homme, plus elle était intriguée.
