Author Aislinn Kearns
Today I have the opportunity to interview Author Aislinn Kearns.
Hi Aislinn. So glad to have you!
-Tell us about yourself. Do you have any weird habits?
Hi! My name is Aislinn, and I’m an Australian that recently moved home after two years in Qatar. I write romantic suspense about ex-military heroes and heroines.
Weird habits? I have a few, but none I’d admit to in public!
-Tell us about the first time you decided to sit down and write a full-length novel.
Well, I decided that a number of times before I finally succeeded at it. My first completed novel was a Regency Romance that I decided to write during the final semester of my Masters (because I’m an overachiever like that!) I wrote 1,000 words a day and was pretty smug when I finally finished it. I hope that I’ll be able to release that book eventually, because I’m very fond of it, and the sequel I wrote to it.
-What was your favorite book to write in the “Soldiering On” series? And why?
Oh, definitely Dangerous Victor:. This was the first book in the series that I actually came up with the idea for, but saved it to write a bit later in the series. I’m very fond of Zack as a character, and I think it is my strongest book in the series yet (though others may disagree!) It was also the hardest to write, though. I had to scrap and rewrite the first 1/3 of the book, which was a tough decision. But the book is better for it.
-What is your ideal writing location?
Somewhere quiet, and peaceful. A log cabin, a roaring fire, a dog at my feet, and snow or storms outside. (I have to travel to the northern hemisphere for that, though!) In reality, as long as it’s quiet, I’m okay.
-What are some of your favorite authors?
I love Suzanne Brockmann and Jayne Ann Krentz.
-Do you have particular artists or bands you listen to for inspiration while writing?
I prefer silence, but occasionally when I need to spur myself into a writing sprint I’ll put on either the Mortal Kombat theme, or a 15 minute loop of the Pirates of the Caribbean theme. They’ll usually get me moving.
-If you could bring one of your characters to life, which one would you choose? And why?
Sam, probably. She’s similar to me and my oldest friend, (though way more awesome than either of us) and I think we’d get along really well.
-Can you describe your dream vacation?
This will sound familiar: A log cabin, a roaring fire, a dog at my feet and snow outside my door. And blissful silence.
-Based on your experience, what is the best way to promote your books?
I wish there was an easy answer to this question, but basically I found that you need a mix of a lot of things across the board. The most effective things are the ones that cost time and money, so you need to be prepared to use a ton of both.
-What’s your next project? And where can readers connect with you?
I’m currently working on the next book in the Soldiering On series, which is Sam’s book. I’m also working on a Christmas novella that will be released in a multi-author boxed set at the end of the year. Besides that, I’ve started writing a spinoff of Dangerous Victor:, featuring a character people may not expect, as well as some novellas and short stories.

FREE FREE FREE
Hello!
I don't know if anyone reads this, but here goes:
My Life As I Knew It is available for FREE on Amazon on March 17 & 18!!!
Let me tell you some fun behind the scenes info.
The main guy in the story popped into my head fully formed; something that rarely happens. But Sam was such an entity by himself that I immediately knew everything about him! He has the most bizarre sense of humor which made writing him all the more fun.
One of my supporting characters, Kevin, was only supposed to be a passing mention, but I was so intrigued by him he became a full-fledged character, and my personal favorite.
As for the protagonist of the story, Maggie, she was a little tougher to break. We meet her at such a bleak time in her life, it was difficult to know what she used to be like before. But, bit by bit, she opened up to me and let me see the inner workings of her mind. If she were a real person, I'd like to think we would be friends.
Had enough of me talking about my characters as if the were real people? LOL.

Author Amy J. Hamilton
Today I have the opportunity to interview the fabulous Amy J. Hamilton!
Hi Amy. Thanks for being here.
-Tell us about yourself. Do you have any weird habits?
I’m Amy J Hamilton (not my real name, not that it’s a secret.) I’m about 300 years old and come from another planet. I live in SE England with my husband and two teenagers and a variety of pets. One of them is a bearded dragon (pet, not teenager) she can fly and talk and breathe fire. Weird habits-probably none I should mention! I think I’m quite weird anyway. Apparently I have the weird habit of lying whilst answering interview questions, although everything I’ve said so far is true. Honest. I change my hair colour every month. It’s currently a colour similar to dried blood. At the end of the month it’ll be purple. I don’t function well without coffee. I do seem to fail at drinking them before they get cold. I read things that I’ve written out loud which is a good habit because you can find awkward sentences that way, but I also talk to myself which is thought of as weird by people from this planet.
-Tell us about the first time you decided to sit down and write a full-length novel?
It must have been around 2010. The kids were both at school and I had some free time between work sessions. I had wanted to write for years. Before I had kids I started a creative writing course. Unfortunately I did what I was told by the company and started on the non-fiction section of the course which held no interest for me whatsoever. As soon as I was pregnant I was so ill it was very easy to give up. It was always in my mind that I’d write fiction, but with two small kids and a business to run, I couldn’t find the time. It just so happened that I had time around 2010 to write a book. I may even publish it one day.
-Tell us about your book. What made you decide to set it on the moon?
Terror. Modified was originally set in London with a base on our moon. Then I realised I have no scientific background and no interest in obtaining one. I just wanted to write a fantasy with things out of my imagination that couldn’t possibly happen. I didn’t care that they couldn’t possibly happen, but I felt happier setting the book on a made up world and a made up moon.
-What is your ideal writing location?
Somewhere warmer than sitting on my sofa with an oversized laptop on my knees. I may need a scarf in a minute!
-What are some of your favorite authors?
There are loads. I’m currently catching up with Mark Tufo’s Zombie Fallout novels. I’ve always loved James Herbert, Agatha Christie. Growing up I read Guy N Smith, Robin Cook and Douglas Adams. I tended to find an author I liked and then tried to read everything they ever wrote. I have about twenty Agatha Christie books to go and I can’t tell you how far behind I am on Terry Pratchett’s Discworld novels.
-If you could bring one of your characters to life, which one would you choose and why?
Good question. I’m not sure, a lot of them are based on various parts of me so in a way some of them are already alive. I suppose I would have to go with Dr Spelling, she’s not based on me. I don’t find her likeable as a character but she is a great scientist and might be able to cure something. Or maybe Jefferson the alien sheep from a short story I’m writing. Not much of a character, he’s a bright pink blob with six legs and he smells bad.
-I think I'd like to meet Jefferson. Lol. If you could read only one genre for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Horror, no, crime. Ugh. Crime Horror. New genre-everyone write that!
-Do you have particular artists or bands you listen to for inspiration while writing?
I am so easily distracted I tend to not have music on when I’m writing. I have recently bought a whole three songs though- Castle on the Hill by Ed Sheeran, Play That Song by Train and Human by Rag’n’Bone Man.
-Can you describe your dream vacation?
Somewhere warm with my family and a private swimming pool and within walking distance of restaurants so I don’t have to cook all the time.
-What's your next project? And where can readers connect with you?
I’m working on a short story for an anthology. I’m trying not to make it too weird-it’s a challenge. I’m also busy writing the sequel to Modified. I’ve got another futuristic erotic novel almost finished. Then there’s that first erotic novel I wrote that needs a bit of work.
Good luck! And Thank you.

Author Carole P. Roman
Today I have the pleasure of interviewing the amazing Carole P. Roman!
Let's dive in.
-Hi, Carole. Tell us a little bit about yourself. Do you have any weird habits?
I imagine my whole life seems weird to other people. I work long hours, multitasking and can flip into many different roles without blinking an eye. My jobs have been as diverse as selling jewelry, dispatching cars, to performing on stage. I think the weirdest thing I do is be able to hold a conversation and write creatively at the same time. It comes from being a mother and wearing the multiple hats I constantly had to put on.
-Tell us about the first time you decided to sit down and write a book.
The very first time was when my kids were young. I wrote a bodice ripper under my actual name. That sold one copy and I gave up indie publishing until my sons dared me to write a book thirty years later. Captain No Beard was born of that challenge and fifty books later, I think I've found my niche.
-What made you decide to write for children?
My kids told me write something you are comfortable with, and my favorite thing in the world is playing with my grandchildren. The first Captain No Beard book reads like one of our playtimes.
-Do you have a favorite of all the books you've written?
Nope, no....it's like choosing children. Love them all!
-What advice would you give new authors?
Read a few books about what you are getting into- you have to get prepared to learn the whole process. Get on a good and proactive thread on Goodreads. Know that writing doesn't end when you press 'Publish my book.' The work is just starting then- you have to be prepared to market and promote, or let your hard work disappear in the black hole of a high ratings on Amazon.
-What is your ideal writing location?
I can write anywhere, anytime, even with screaming kids, the television and dinner cooking. I am not bothered by location. It must be all the yoga...
-Lol. What are some of your favorite authors?
Phillippa Gregory, Bernard Cornwell, Liane Moriarity, Jojo Moynes, Leon Uris, James Clavell, Carola Kelly, Tracey Chevalier, Joanna Bourne, Michael Phillip Cash (my son),Barbara Metzger, Elizabeth Berg, just to name a few.
-If you could read only one genre for the rest of your life what would it be?
It was Regency for a long time, but I am not crazy about the newer authors in the genre. I read a lot of historical fiction or non-fiction.
-Can you describe your dream vacation?
Anywhere with my family.
-What's your next project? And where can readers connect with you?
I am in the process of having my newest book formatted. It's my first early reader chapter book called Oh Susannah: It's in the Bag. I hope it's well received. I published If You Were Me and Lived in...the Ancient Mayan Empire yesterday.
If You Were Me and Lived in...Cuba is being illustrated. Rocket-Bye, Can a Princess be a Firefighter? and One to Ten are being published in hardcover this month. Whew, that does this week. I'm bored so I'll have to find a new country to discover interesting things about.
Thank you so much Carole for taking the time to answer a few questions!

Author R.L. Jackson
Today I will be interviewing the hilarious R.L. Jackson.
Hi R.L. Welcome! Let's dive in.
-Tell us a little bit about yourself. Do you have any weird habits?
Hi Peri and thanks for having me. I'm not sure what to say about myself other than I love to create and daydream about all kinds of things. It's what's helped to kick start me into writing in the first place. As for weird habits... When I listen to music I'm usually imaging some awesome scene unfolding in my mind, which is where I get motivation for scenes for a script or a novel.
-Tell us about the first time you decided to sit down and write a full-length novel?
I was in nursing school and had an idea in my mind for a romance and I decided that it was now or never. Of course it still took two years between school and other obligations to finish, but I'm glad I did it.
-Tell us about your book.
Crashing Into Me
is my first novel and its about a wild and spoiled guy, who thinks the world literally revolves around him, and this stubborn no-nonsense nurse who lives the opposite way. They end up meeting under rather dire circumstances and begin to get to know one another in a forced proximity situation.
-What made you decide to go the self-publishing route?
I like control, lol. I didn't want to spend years possibly being rejected when I knew what I had was good, so I decided to take the leap and do it myself.
-What is your ideal writing location?
That would be my living room at night, when everyone is long asleep and I can think clearly without distractions.
-If you could read only one genre for the rest of your life what would it be?
Oh boy that's unfair lol. I guess it would have to be fiction, and have a romantic element in it.
-Can you describe your dream vacation?
Hawaii on a beach with several margaritas, lol
-Do you have any guilty pleasures?
Don't we all? I guess mine would be watching those Real Housewives shows. I know, its silly, but its like watching a comedy special for me.
-What's your next project? And where can readers connect with you?
My next project will be the second installment for Crashing Into Me, as well as a few other surprises. It's going to be an interesting year.

Introduction
Hi everyone! I'm Peri.
I just self-published my first book, something I never thought I would do. The idea always seemed so daunting. Everything I wrote just sat untouched on my computer until I decided to take the plunge last month. I've never been so exhilarated and apprehensive in my life than when I clicked 'publish'.
Then came the marketing beast. Turns out writing the book was the easy part. I discovered that promoting your work is a never-ending process and I have learned so many new things these past few weeks.
Can't wait to see what the future brings!
Until next time...
My Life As I Knew It

Everything I wrote just sat untouched on my computer until I decided to take the plunge last month. I've never been so exhilarated and apprehensive in my life than when I clicked 'publish'.
Then came the marketing beast. Turns out writing the book was the easy part. I discovered that promoting your work is a never-ending process and I have learned so many new things these past few weeks.
Can't wait to see what the future brings!
Until next time...
