For the Momma Who Needs to Know It’s Going to Be Okay
Hi there, I won’t tell a story here to draw you in and help you know that I get what you’re going through. The truth is, I might not understand what you’re facing. But I do know this.
You clicked on this article because you need to know it’s going to be okay. Or because someone you love shared the article with you and thinks you need this encouragement.
And that means? Maybe something really heavy is happening in your life… or maybe it’s a bunch of little somethings.
Maybe you can’t keep up… or you finally caught up and another wave of to dos has swept you off of your feet again.
Maybe it’s money… or maybe it’s health… or maybe it’s everything.
I’m writing this post because God asked me to remind you… (not just everyone… you specifically) that it really is going to be okay.
It might not look like it.
It might not seem like it right now.
It might not turn out anything like you are hoping or even praying.
But I need to give your feet a solid place to stand because I can almost see the waves trying to knock you off of the rock you’re clinging to in this storm.
God has you. He has all of it. Can you picture Him for just a minute with you in the room? I know you want Him to tell you how it turns out. We might not get to know that today.
But we do get to know this for certain.
There won’t be one moment of what lies ahead for you that He won’t go with you.
There won’t be one second when you have to carry it on your own.
And you might have felt as though He’s silent or distant or an eternity away, but I hope you can hear Him telling you that you aren’t alone.
Pause. Take a second and a deep breath.
Listen as the Lord reminds you:
There are GOOD days ahead.
There are days of PEACE and JOY and PROMISE and LIFE and PURPOSE for you and your family.
We’ll meet each day as it comes together. We’ll take the next moments as they come together. I’m here and I love you. Trust Me.
My friend, He’s not overwhelmed by your emotions. He’s not frustrated with your frustrations. He’s not distracted because you have been busy. You have His full attention right now in this moment.
Take a second to tell Him how you feel… and then? Take a second to listen.
We have a God who wants to speak directly to us. And I have a feeling there are things He wants to tell you, but you’ve been pretty busy…
I wish I could tell you how it turns out, but I can’t. I can only tell you that when it does, you’ll know He was with you all along. You’re going to make it. You’ll see soon enough. Until then, remember you aren’t just clinging to the rock. The Rock is holding tightly to you.
Here is a conversation I had with God in early 2020. I think it might encourage you today.
Me: Okay, God, here’s the thing. I’m scared. I’m trying not to be, but I am.
God: I know. Want to talk about it?
Me: Do we need to? I mean, you already know.
God: Let’s talk about it anyway… We’ve done this before.
Me: I know, I just feel like I should be bigger or stronger of something by now.
God: *waiting patiently, unhurried, undistracted, never annoyed.
Me: Okay. So, I’m afraid I’ll do everything I can to protect my family and it won’t be enough. I’m afraid of someone I love dying. I’m afraid the world won’t go back to what it was before. I’m afraid my life is always going to feel a little bit unsettled.
God: Anything else?
Me: EVERYTHING ELSE.
God: Remember how Jaxton woke up the other night and came running down the hall to your bedroom?
Me: Yes.
God: You were still awake, so when you heard him running, you started calling out to him before he even got to you… remember? Do you remember what you called out to him?
Me: I said, “You’re okay! You’re okay! You’re okay!”
God: Why did you call to him? Why didn’t you just wait for him to get to your room?
Me: Because I wanted him to know that I was awake, and I heard him, and he didn’t have to be afraid until he reached the end of the dark hallway.
God: Exactly. I hear you, daughter. I hear your thoughts racing like feet down the dark hallway. There’s an other side to all of this. I’m there already. I’ve seen the end of it. And I want you to know right here as you walk through it all, you’re okay. I haven’t gone to sleep, and I won’t.
Me: *crying. Can we sit together awhile? Can we just sit here a minute before I go back to facing it all?
God: There’s nothing I’d love more.
You may have seen this post floating around the internet. Yes, I’m the original author. I’m so glad it brought so many people comfort. When the pandemic began, there was so much uncertainty. I was so afraid. This short conversation with the Lord re-centered my heart on truth and reminded me of His presence. I believe it did the same for many. I’m praying it does the same for you.

Hearing God

I have a feeling we are going to be great friends.

I'm Becky Thompson. I'm the author of Hope Unfolding, Love Unending, Truth Unchanging, My Real Story, Midnight Mom Devotional (which I co-wrote with my own momma, Susan Pitts), Peace and Midnight Dad Devotional (which I co-wrote with my dad, Mark Pitts). They've been USA Today, Publishers Weekly, and ECPA bestsellers. They've been on store shelves in Target, Walmart, Barnes and Noble, and even Cracker Barrel. Most importantly, they are connecting women to what Jesus says is true.
I began writing online in 2013 when I created a small fashion blog which grew dramatically in just one year. After one of my articles went viral, I found myself with a large following and opportunities I hadn't imagined.
In 2016 I founded the Midnight Mom Devotional Community on Facebook which I run with my momma. With one million moms joining together in nightly prayer, we are one of the largest nightly prayer movements in America. We invite you come join us!
I host the Revived Motherhood Podcast, which became one of the top Christian podcasts in America just weeks after it debuted. Season two releases soon!
In my day to day life, you'll find me living in NW Oklahoma, spending my time as a wife to my husband, Jared, and a momma to our three kids.
I'm so glad that you have found your way to this website. For more information or for booking inquiries, please use the contact page.
So much love!

Tonight we pray for the momma who thinks often about time. Lord, some days she wishes that it was already tomorrow and some days she just wants to go back. At moments, time seems to fly and other days it feels as though it crawls. Lord, no matter how she spends her time, she always wishes there was more of it. Tonight, Lord, we ask that You would give this momma grace in place of guilt. Give her strength for the long days and fill her with hope on the good ones. You have blessed every moment of this momma’s life. Give her peace tonight. We ask in Jesus’s name, Amen. - MIDNIGHT MOM DEVOTIONAL

Tonight we pray for the momma who is the kindest person we know. Father, she is always there and listens without judgment. She cares about her friends and family. She loves unconditionally. Lord, sometimes it seems like too much but she knows how to pray and brings it all to You. Tonight, we ask that You carry her heart. Please help her to rest. May she know how much You love her and how much we appreciate her. We ask in Jesus’s name, Amen. – MIDNIGHT MOM DEVOTIONAL

Tonight we pray for the momma who works in the healthcare system. Lord, she may be a nurse, a respiratory therapist, a lab technician, a chaplain, a cna, an anesthesiologist, a pharmacist, a doctor, or any other important role. This momma may be working long and difficult shifts often on her feet for 12 hours or more at a time. Lord, these healthcare mommas are our heroes during this pandemic. Please give them an extra portion of strength and keep them healthy. Please watch over their families. We ask in Jesus's name, Amen.- MIDNIGHT MOM DEVOTIONAL

Tonight we pray for each nana, gigi, mimi, lollie, gemma, grandma, memaw, and grams who make our life and our children’s lives so much richer by being in it. Their love and devotion, their care and concern and their words of wisdom make our family stronger. We love them whether near or far. We are so grateful. Lord, we ask that You bless each one tonight. Please fill their hearts with joy and peace. We ask in Jesus’s name, Amen. – MIDNIGHT MOM DEVOTIONAL

Tonight we pray for the momma who feels a little bit of everything. Lord, she may feel tired, discouraged, or worn-thin. She might feel overwhelmed or sad from missing her family, friends, and routine. Hope may come in waves or perhaps fear rests just beneath the surface of her busy mind. Lord, she is doing the best she can to sort through what needs to be done and her feelings one by one. Tonight we ask You to bring what her heart needs. If it’s peace, You promise it. If it’s strength, You’re already there. If it’s hope or joy, bubble it up from the inside of her. If it’s rest, meet her here. We ask in Jesus’s name, Amen. -Midnight Mom Devotional

Tonight we pray for the momma who has had a long week. Father, we ask that You pick up the broken pieces of Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday and restore our peace tonight. Lord, You see all the places where we feel like failures and You call us Your beloved. You see all the places we feel like we fell short and You call us Your daughter. We can rest tonight knowing that You love each one. Please grant each momma peace and hope and restorative rest. We ask in Jesus’s name, Amen. -Midnight Mom Devotional
et_pb_text"}" data-et-multi-view-load-tablet-hidden="true">
