Announcing My Next Novel: In the Midst
Only a week after the launch of In the Lurch, I had people asking when my next novel was coming out. It’s so flattering that people want to read my work, but even more so when they can’t wait to keep reading! So today, I’m announcing my most anticipated novel so far, In the Midst, which will release on April 2, 2019.

How I Make a Book Cover
I was about to answer the question of ‘how I make my own book covers,’ which had been posed on a self-publishing forum for the millionth (slight hyperbole, but at least fifth or so) time, but I decided to flesh out the whole process in a blog post instead. I’ve glossed over the steps I take to make a cover several times on forums, but today, I'll go into detail of how I put them together

How to Make and Achieve your Goals
Happy New Year! As the holiday season comes to a close, I always get really excited for the new year. It’s a natural point to look forward and decide what you want to accomplish. I’m already anticipating working on three projects which I discussed in the previous post, but more than that, I’m excited to set goals on what do I want to accomplish.
For 2018, I made plans to publish two books and

Book Ideas for 2019
Happy Christmas Eve! My Holiday Deals will keep going until the end of the year, so if you haven’t purchased your signed books yet, go do it now!
With the end of the year quickly approaching, I’ve been thinking about some of the projects I want to work on next year. Just about every writer has a drawer full of ideas and needs to prioritize which ones to do first. Generally, I try not to start

Beta Reader Book Club
My writing group had their annual holiday party this past week. I’m one of the few writers out there who is somewhat extroverted, so I love going to social events—especially if I can talk about writing and books!
The part of the evening that I was most looking forward to were the pitches for the beta reader book club. In 2018, we had our novel-writing small groups, and I was happy to learn

What to Look for in an Editor
Hello!
To those of you reading, I’m Josiah Davis, Beth Martin’s editor. Just to give a bit of background on myself, I’ve been working in the editing industry for the last five years now, and during that time I’ve done around 250 novels and worked with just over 80 authors. I had stumbled into the career back a while ago, but transitioned to full-time work two years ago and absolutely love

#Indiecember Reading Challenge
A fellow indie author, Megan Tennant, put together a reading challenge for the month of December. Basically, the challenge is to read great indie books, write some reviews, and win prizes.
Yes, prizes! As of writing this, more than thirty authors have added their books and merch to the prize pool, and there's over $150 in cash prizes. (And if you want a free book right now make sure to read to

Oh Christmas Tree
My kids woke me up at the break of dawn the day after Thanksgiving. “Mommy! We need to put up the Christmas tree!” I’m not one of those people who insist that there shall be no hint of Christmas before Thanksgiving, and in some past years, I’ve brought out all the holiday decorations in mid-November.
As we unfolded and quickly erected our pre-lit tree, my husband and I remarked how much
