What happens when your decisions affect an entire universe?
Ren Argent wanted to be an archeologist and spend her life exploring the lost cities of Earth. But when a new planet is discovered and her father is appointed King, she has to leave behind everything she knows to rule over a place she’s only heard of in legends. Not long after her arrival she discovers there are insurgents hiding in the darkened forests and the planet is on the brink of civil war. It won’t be long until the Monarchy steps in to “neutralize” the threat.
Will she be able to stop the hostile takeover? Or will her actions ignite a rebellion across the universe?
Excerpt:
“Well, when the Monarchy showed them this,”—Garret nodded to the paper—“and their current Prime Minister dead, his successor was very willing to pass the torch.”
Ren inspected the paper closer while Elian tried to remember what a Prime Minister was. The only words she could make out were “Star Deed” and “Meredith Argent”, along with a seemingly random set of numbers.
“Something that isn’t widely known is that back on Earth in the latter twentieth to early twenty-first century, people would gift stars to each other,” Garret explained.
“Seriously?” Elian asked.
Garret nodded. “And in 1984, a man named Daniel Argent gave his girlfriend and soon to be wife a star for their wedding. Ring any chimes?”
“Bells,” Ren corrected. “And yes, it does. Are you saying because our ancestor named a star, through a company that doesn’t have any right to name stars I might add, that we own it now?And by default, the planet that orbits it?”
“Absolutely,” Garret said with a grin. Ren had hoped her corrections would make him think twice before opening his mouth, or at least put a damper on his mood, but it did neither.
“You are now the royal family of the planet Novae.” Garret bowed towards the new royals.
“Welcome to the Monarchy.”
Emerson will be awarding a $15 Amazon/BN GC to a randomly drawn winner during the tour!

Excerpt: This time, the voice was distinctly female and the name she mentioned sounded familiar.
Lilly leaned forward and hung her head over the branch. The couple in question were directly under her. She recognized the woman as being one of her mother’s guests who’d come for the week-long house party—Mrs. White, a young widow. And Mr. Colton …
Of course, how could she forget? Her brother, Thomas, had brought a few of his friends to participate in the week’s activities, one of them being the rakish Mr. Colton. She’d overheard some of the women gossiping about him before he’d arrived, and when she was introduced …
Well, it was easy to see what all the fuss had been about. He was devastatingly handsome—tall, with an athletic build and shaggy blond hair. And by the way he carried himself, Mr. Colton was well aware of the effect his appearance had on others. Even his clothing was impossibly perfect—not a single crease, spot, or wrinkle marred the fashionable man. She hadn’t seen him since their introduction, so naturally she’d just assumed he was making himself busy with exploration and the like.
And it looked as if her assumption had been correct.
Mr. Colton appeared to be quite busy with his thorough exploration of the ginger-haired woman he was currently groping.
He laughed. “You have no idea how wicked I can be, my peach.”
Lilly grimaced at the use of such a ridiculous term of endearment. Did he really believe women responded positively to being referred to as pieces of fruit? And of all the produce in which to be compared, he had the audacity to choose that one. Peaches were plump, round, squishy, and furry all over. Really, the sentiment made for a much better insult than a compliment.
Despite that, the woman giggled and pawed at his chest. Mr. Colton took the woman into his arms and began kissing her neck, then moved lower.
Lilly jolted back up.
She knew she should have made her presence known and left the two lovers alone to do whatever it was they were doing. It simply wasn’t acceptable for a young lady, any lady really, to be privy to such personal and completely inappropriate conversation … and everything else she was witnessing.
Yet she remained ever so quiet, perched atop the branch, thinking about what it was she was supposed to be doing.
Then she leaned over again to get a better look.
Jessica will be awarding a $10 Amazon or B/N GC to a randomly drawn winner via rafflecopter during the tour!

#NewRelease Passing the Torch by @LeslieLSanders
The L.L. stands for Leslie Lee. I write erotic romance and post-apocalyptic/dystopian fiction under Leslie Lee Sanders.
But horror and thriller fiction is what I grew up on, what inspires me, and what began my pursuit to authorship. I’ve written many short scary stories since the 6th grade. Now they’re much more mature in general, thanks to the wide range of emotion and experience I’ve encountered over the years.
I’m a huge fan of horror and psychological thrillers in every fashion, including movies, books, art, campfire tales, etc. Some of my favorite stories are those that twist at the end or are ambiguous with deep societal or morality themes. This includes dystopias like Hugh Howey’s Wool, psychological thrillers like Shutter Island, and popular and classic horror/romances like V.C. Andrews’s Flowers in the Attic, my favorite.
All my ideas start with a twist, which is exactly how most of my stories end.Facebook

Deep in the Arizona desert live a girl and her dad, burying secrets--and bodies.
Mesa Kingston's first memory of burying a corpse was at eight years old. Back then it had been the carcass of a large lizard her dad found that they buried in the backyard of their isolated cottage. At age fourteen, the body of a young lady accompanied the reptile's remains, and ever since, an accumulation of female bodies began to grow. Now, the only way Mesa can stop the haunting screams of the dead is by drowning them out with flames. Or is there more to the blaze than even she can perceive?

Excerpt:
The wailing sirens grow louder as they approach, making the singed hairs on my arms stand up as anticipation prickles beneath my skin. Strands of my hair blow against my face, tickling my nose and briefly reminding me of the life I was willingly leaving behind. No more fussing over which shampoos and leave-in conditioners were best suited for my hair, no more being embarrassed when the manicurist added the dull-pink nail polish to my nails that unintentionally blends with my natural skin tone, no more ordinary life for an ordinary girl.
But have I ever been an ordinary girl with an ordinary life, or was my urge to be normal greater than my reality? That question was too obvious to answer, and I would've chuckled at the ridiculousness of it at any other time.
Now as I walk farther from the cottage along the narrow trail—worn and barren from the years of traffic—I'm hit with a devastating realization … I can still hear the agonizing screams.
No matter how much or how long I try to shut out the noise, I fail. Nothing helps, not a thought, a memory, not even the smell of burnt wood in the air can distract me from the noise. Each tactic eventually leads me right back to the screams.
I grab the wire of the makeshift fence with one hand, the fence my dad had built to separate our property from the rest of the desert. It didn't matter much. Our cottage was the only structure for many miles, built by Grandpa decades ago near a remote lake. Even so, erecting a fence and creating a yard may have been Dad's attempt at being normal too.

Interview with Arby Corry for Heart-Shaped Stone
Arby Corry has spent the last twenty-five years in the radio business. Performing every job from radio announcer, to program director, to commercial producer to copy writer, Arby gives voice to characters found just on the other end of the request line. Her debut novel, Heart-Shaped Stone, has received critical acclaim as well as delighting readers with its fresh approach. Arby believes in real characters, with real voices. And while a happy ending is always satisfying, she believes life has other plans. When not on the air or writing her follow-up to Heart-Shaped Stone, Arby enjoys spending time with her husband, children and the great outdoors of the Pacific Northwest.Amazon Author PageGoodreads
1. At any given time do you work on only one story at a time and maybe plot out the next one or are there many ideas racing around your head? I wish it weren’t true, but there are many ideas floating in my head, racing, more accurately. However, currently it’s all about the follow-up to Heart-Shaped Stone. This book wants, needs, no, requires, a follow-up and I’ve had many ask me when it’s on its way. Soon.
2. Is there a genre you haven't written in but would like to? Or wish you could write in? Comedy. I think I could likely do this as it’s sort of my background, having worked in the radio business for years and performed morning shows, but it takes great finesse and I really admire those who can do it right. The thing about writing comedy is it’s sort of like comics who perform on stage – either you’re really good at it, or you really shouldn’t have sold everything you own, moved to Hollywood and given up that pretty decent day job.
3.Do you add an element of romantic suspense in your stories? Well, the genre for Heart-Shaped Stone is all about Romantic Suspense. However, it didn’t start off that way. All I knew going in was that it was going to be a love story. I weren’t sure where we were going, or how we were going to get there, but I love a good love story and a complicated one all the more. My story just took the direction it was meant to have, I suppose. Do I think all stories should incorporate Romantic Suspense? No, just the ones I want to read!

5. If you could turn your novel into a TV show, which novel or series would you do? Where would it be set? Network TV (ABC, NBC, CBS), Cable (AMC, BBC, Lifetime) or Premium Cable (HBO, Showtime, Starz)? As much as it pains me to say, this is truly a Lifetime made for TV movie! I love that network, so why am I knocking it? I think that comes with “falling in love” with your story. I want the best for it and would hate to see it relegated to the Saturday night lineup just before that infomercial for pantyhose. I kid, but it really does fit the network – romance, suspense, intrigue, deception, it has Lifetime written all over it. The only exception, there is quite a steamy love scene in Heart-Shaped Stone and they’d either have to water that down or heavily edit. If not then we’re headed for HBO for sure!
6. Finally, tell us about your latest release! Caila, like most dreamers, just wants to be wanted. Unlike most dreamers, she's wanted by the CIA.
When the last decade of thirty-two year old Caila Domenici’s life disappears, destroyed in a car accident, she is forced to begin again. Defying doctor’s orders to slow-go-it, she sets out to navigate the world on her own. It's not going well. Coddled from birth, everything from a bus schedule to how to boil water confounds her. Worse yet, she's about to accept her meddling mother's offer to pay for food and rent. With just a hunch her talents extend beyond that of daughter of privilege, Caila searches for her past. Before she can find it, it finds her. And the handsome azure-eyed stranger who’s saying he knows her is somehow part of it.
Caila always believed there had to be more, but now, on the verge of discovering the truth, she must decide which is worse – never knowing who she really is, or knowing too much.

Amazon Barnes and NobleExcerpt:
Reese was being too nice. Something was up - their deep conversation the night before, the bubble bath, the tea, turning down her bed and now breakfast? Caila wasn’t suspicious by nature, and in most cases trusted more than she should, but where Reese was concerned she dropped all pretenses and questioned his every move. He was much too calculating to not see opportunity in everything he did. Caila recognized that in him right away. Her mind was now churning with theories. Why, if he was up to something, would he be so blatant with this sudden kindness? Did he think she would not notice?
Then she imagined the most unexpected thing.
Maybe he wasn’t up to anything at all. Maybe this was another side to the man she detested right from the start. The invader, the man who came to make her life a living hell and push aside her father may not, after all, be the man she believed him to be. But even that theory was short lived. No, she thought, he has a motive.Arby Corry will be awarding $50 Amazon/BN GC to a randomly drawn winner via rafflecopter during the tour!

When reclusive cyborg Alistair Mechanus meets his captive, ER doctor Julia Parker, it is love at first sight--for him. While he eagerly drops his plans for World Conquest to woo her, ten years of solitude have left his social skills badly rusted. When his misguided act of kindness spirals out of control, however, Julia is forced to trust the mad genius with her life, and she discovers the vulnerable side under his armored plating. She has the skills he needs to unlock his forgotten past, but learning who he used to be may come at the cost of his remaining sanity.
Enjoy an excerpt:
She advanced cautiously, trying to get a look at the subject of his study in the next room. Before she could, however, the tall man in the hall with her spoke.
“Greetings, Julia,” he said in the baritone she’d heard from the speaker. She turned, and saw to her shock that a significant portion of the left half of his face, now revealed to her, was crafted of overlapping segments of unpolished metal, apparently riveted through the flesh and into the skull and jaw. His left eye was a mechanical lens that turned and focused in perfect coordination with its biological counterpart as he regarded her, its iris dilating as he offered her a welcoming smile. “I am, as you have probably guessed, Dr. Mechanus. I welcome you to my humble lair.” He sketched a bow to her, and she either heard or imagined the sound of countless motors whirring within him.
At first her thoughts were consumed by a single horrified thought—what the hell what the hell what the hell—repeated over and over again until her mind filled with what the hell from top to bottom and side to side. She felt light-headed, and braced herself against the edge of the observation window to avoid falling, but some persistently reasonable corner of her mind gently informed her that now simply was not a good time for her to faint or throw up.
Stay frosty, Julia, the voice advised her, in a familiar-sounding voice that Julia couldn’t immediately identify. Think of this like your first car crash in the ER. Sure, it looks horrible, but you can get through this. Just breathe. Get through this, and find out what’s happened to Jim. You’re okay.

Damn, she had a pretty smile. Hell, she was pretty, period. Lola’s smooth-looking skin was a shade darker than his natural tone, and she had these eyebrows that arched in a way that could stop a man dead in his tracks. Once he’d finally seen her in some natural light, he realized those eyebrows of hers spoke volumes even if she remained silent. There was the quick lift of one brow that said, ‘Really? You’re an asshole.’ Vlad had been on the receiving end of that one.
Then again, she’d raised that same brow before when he’d started stripping down to swim across the marsh. He’d told himself that raised brow was more out of interest than, ‘You’re an asshole.’ He’d been wrong about what women thought before, though, and probably shouldn’t put much thought into a simple eyebrow raise. But he couldn’t discount Lola’s eyes. They were…exotic. Was that the right word? A home-grown Florida boy, born and raised in the Everglades, the closest he’d come to exotic were the snakes he and his brother had found when they’d explored the Glades as kids.
Whatever the word, exotic had popped into his mind. Lola’s eyes weren’t a true brown, but a hypnotic shade of golden-brown with flecks of blue.
And absolutely beautiful. Kristine will be awarding a $10 Amazon/BN GC to two randomly drawn winners via rafflecopter during the tour!

And he'll brave the fires of hell--and the disdain of Steele and Chrome--to protect her.
Excerpt: Platinum’s Choice
Platinum stalked toward the car. What could have happened to Kent? Young children with grandmothers who wouldn’t let them eat anything with red dye number five in it—he knew because it was a fact Tony presented him with at the last meeting—didn’t simply disappear in such a way where professional private eyes couldn’t find them. His danger radar went off in a big way.
“Stop it.” Copper grabbed his arm. “Whatever happened in there, whatever you need to get done, you can’t run off and not tell Chrome or Steele where you’re going. Fuck it, Platinum, you’ve been trained better.”
“It’s personal.”
She shook her head. Copper was the strongest, toughest woman he’d ever known. Why she decided to make friends with him when most everyone else left him to his own devices never ceased to puzzle him. Cooper and Mercury were thicker than thieves, only whatever relationship those two shared—or didn’t—he wouldn’t pretend to understand. Copper had gone and fallen in love with someone other than Merc and everyone seemed okay with it.
“Yes. And?” She wasn’t going to let it go.
“I have a kid.” He could hardly mutter the words. A year of impossibly long days passed since he’d thought about The Boy let alone told anyone, even the people he trusted with his life, about Kent’s existence.
“I think you’d better go see Poppy. Whatever it is, you can’t hide it from the uppity-ups. Whatever happened, it’s only going to make things harder.”
Damn it. He hated when she was right.
Plat wasn’t going to find Kent if Tony hadn’t been able to, not without resources his team could provide. They usually worked in groups of four, each member reporting to Chrome or Steele, depending on who was heading that particular mission. He couldn’t ask anyone else to be involved. Any danger he took on would be his own
None of those facts meant he couldn’t ask permission to go so he didn’t end up with his teammates chasing him down assuming he’d gone off mission.
Steele would talk to Poppy and Poppy would manage Warbucks.
“I’ll call Steele.”
Cooper patted him on the back. “Good.”
“Could you do something for me?”
She raised an eyebrow. “Maybe.”
“Good answer.” Never make a promise until you knew what it entailed. Not unless it was in the field. Then he knew she’d do what he asked as he would. Team relationships were the only friendships Plat ever understood.
“What is it?”
“There’s an asshat in the bar named Tony. I think he’s about to drop dead. I don’t want him to do it here, too many questions.” He really didn’t want to have caused problems for Bone Daddy’s. Tony Di’Fallipi dying at the table minutes after Plat walked away seemed a headache he didn’t need. Plus, needless death irked him. Why let someone die when you could save them?
Some deaths had to happen, others didn’t.
“I’ll take him out and maybe I’ll drop him at an ER.”
“Thanks.” He unlocked the car. First Steele then Kent.
“Platinum.” Copper called his attention. “Sometime you’re going to have to tell me how you ended up with a kid.”
“Copper, if you don’t understand how it works then Gabriel is doing something really wrong.”
His teammate hooked up with her guy months ago and much as Plat didn’t understand how any of their group could manage to have a real social life, Copper seemed happy, which meant she needed to be ragged about it, every chance he got.
“Fuck you, Platinum.”
“I’m pretty fucked. Trust me.”

At any given time do you work on only one story at a time and maybe plot out the next one or are there many ideas racing around your head? It seems I always have ideas racing in my head but I concentrate on one story at a time. It’s rare that I move onto a second project without finishing the first. Generally, though, by the time I am three-quarters of the way through a WIP, I know what my next project will be and that idea and characters are already percolating in my head.

3. Do you add an element of romantic suspense in your stories? Absolutely! My present release is better described as a romantic mystery, but the next two are full blown romantic suspense. One of those, MYTH AND MAGIC, releases on June 9th and is about ghostly occurrences at a corporate retreat. The other, which revolves around the legend of the Mothman, should be ready for submission to my publisher later in February.
4. Say you have unlimited funds: What kind of writing office/cottage would you create for yourself? What a delight that would be! I would have a seaside cottage in a small coastal village overlooking a bluff. Lots of large windows for incredible views, a covered porch with a swing and rocking chair for relaxing, and a path that winds down to a private, sandy beach. I wouldn’t even mind if the weather turned chilly part of the year, because the cottage would have a large stone fireplace and warm rugs over hardwood floors.
5. If you could turn your novel into a TV show, which novel or series would you do? Where would it be set? Network TV (ABC, NBC, CBS), Cable (AMC, BBC, Lifetime) or Premium Cable (HBO, Showtime, Starz)? ECLIPSE LAKE would make an intriguing TV series, I think, because of the cast of characters involved—a hero with a criminal past, a heroine who works for a national magazine, the hero’s outspoken teenage son, Jesse, (who has a knack for digging into his dad’s past), even the hero’s brother who still carries a fifteen-year-old grudge. Then there’s the town sheriff who’d like nothing better than to settle an old score, plus a host of minor characters who range from a dispatch officer with a heart of gold, to a nosy teen trio who befriend Jesse. Sounds like something that would fit on Network TV or cable. Tune in next week as the saga continues… J
6. Finally, tell us about your latest release! ECLIPSE LAKE is about Dane Carlisle, a man who returns to his hometown after a fifteen-year absence. He’s left a criminal past behind, and become a successful businessman and philanthropist. His goal is to make peace with his estranged brother, Jonah, but there’s bad blood between them. Complicating matters, Dane begins a relationship with Ellie Sullivan, an outspoken photojournalist who has no intention of settling down. Circumstance goes from bad to worse when freshly discovered skeletal remains put Dane dead center in an unsolved crime—one a vengeful sheriff is determined to pin on him.

Excerpt:
Ellie stopped walking and turned to face him. “Why are you here?”
Dane picked up a flat stone. With a flick of his wrist he sent it skimming across the lake. It danced effortlessly across the surface as if he’d done the same thing a thousand times before. “You know that skeleton they found?”
She nodded.
“I’ve got more skeletons than a graveyard. I can’t pick up and go to another place…to the next photo shoot.” He turned to face her. “Half of my life is here and half’s on the west coast. I have to make them fit together.”
The revelation reminded her of the family she’d left behind in Idaho, reawakening a familiar tug of homesickness. In an effort to find more comfortable ground, she changed topics. “You told me you’re from San Diego. I did a photo op there four years ago. What do you do for a living?”
“I get by.” He took her hand and started walking again.
She sent a speculative glance in his direction, recognizing evasiveness when she heard it. He was wearing a Rolex, and though dressed casually, clearly had expensive taste. Yet he’d booked an ordinary cabin rather than one of the exclusive chalets higher up the mountain.
She liked the feel of his fingers around hers, warm and firm. The contact sent a pleasant tingle up her arm. What the hell was wrong with her, getting caught up in his touch as if it were magic? As if she’d waited her whole life for that sensation. He had skeletons in his past, a brother who couldn’t stand the sight of him and a sheriff who wanted to run him out of town. Excerpt:Ralph Sykes stuck his head through the open door. “Can I see you for a minute?”
Her stomach clenched. Ralph Sykes was the last person she wanted to talk to right now. But she made herself smile instead. “Of course. I have an appointment I need to get to shortly, but I’ve got a couple of minutes. Have a seat.”
He slipped into her office and closed the door. Instead of sitting, he paced the small area beside her desk.
“Ms. Stewart, you know my feelings about the daycare you’re proposing. I believe it’s wrong for our school and for our town.”
Julia suppressed an impatient sigh. “Yes, you’ve made your opinions well known, Ralph. I understand them, but I respectfully disagree.”
“I wish you’d reconsider.”
“I’m sorry, but I’m not going to do that. I believe the daycare is very necessary.”
He narrowed his eyes at her. “There’s opposition on the school board and in the community, you know. Some say we need a new direction at the head of the school.”
She pressed her lips together to keep from telling Ralph what a sanctimonious asshole he was. A long time high school math teacher at Lobster Cove High School, he’d been a thorn in her side ever since she’d been hired as principal three years ago. He’d felt the job should have gone to him, and he had his supporters in the community. For the last three years, he’d done everything in his power to undermine her authority.
She measured her words carefully. “I’m aware of that, Ralph. I’ll do everything I can to make parents more comfortable with having a daycare for the children of students at the school. But as I said, it will be in place in the fall.”
For a few seconds, their gazes locked in a silent battle of wills. Julia wouldn’t give the bastard the satisfaction of seeing her blink first. Finally Ralph looked away.
“I don’t like the idea of my Chloe being exposed to talk of sex out of wedlock and everything your daycare implies.”
Julia nodded. The news was hardly a surprise. Ralph’s sixteen-year-old daughter Chloe was a good student, and a sweet kid. She often babysat Ava. But she was socially awkward, which made her a target for teasing that often bordered on bullying. Julia had stepped in on a couple of occasions when she’d witnessed Chloe being harassed in the hallways. Having a father who was a teacher at the school, one that most of the students thoroughly despised, didn’t help her cause.
“I understand your opinion.”
“I’m considering organizing a petition against the daycare. If we get enough votes, we can take our views to the school board.”
Julia narrowed her eyes. Bring it on.
